GOCE drive

[edit]

Hi. Thanks for contributing to the drive, and thanks for the question on my talk page. I thought your copy edit of 747 Wing House was very competent. There were a few colloquialisms left in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (mum, stuck with, ...). In a popular culure article, it's quite difficult to decide how far to go in sobering up the language -- we don't want to make it sound pompous, after all -- but maybe "mum" is slightly too chatty (?) I've tweaked As the World Turns#Title sequence slightly, but please don't hesitate to change anything you don't like from it.

What I did notice is something about the word counts. The page size tool isn't perfect, and sometimes we may have to copy words into a word processor and use the word-count tool there. In As the World Turns you counted the whole article size, but only one section was tagged, and really you should only count that section. I make it 1014 words. On the other hand, DrPDA didn't count the Cast list at Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging#Cast, which contained prose that you diligently copy edited, so you're entitled to add in a count for that. I make that section 461 words, for a total of 1534 for the article. I'll leave you to mke the adjustments if you agree.

I'll watchlist your page for a couple of days in case you'd like to discuss any of this. Thanks again for helping out. --Stfg (talk) 14:21, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much - you are of course completely right about the word counts, and I edited it. Whoops! I didn't know if 'mum' counted as British (the article was stated to be in British English on the talk page). M.manary (talk) 15:44, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You're right that "mum" is British, but as far as I understand (which may be not at all :)) it's equivalent to "mom" in the US, quite informal. Best, --Stfg (talk) 16:06, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited 747 Wing House, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Malibu (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. WikiProject Wikify: Current Backlog Reduction Plan

[edit]

Hey, I noticed you marked yourself as a member of WikiProject Wikify and you are currently listed as active. I was wondering if you would be able to assist with our current backlog reduction plan. While traditional drives are more structured month-long sprints by WikiProject Wikify members, there is currently lacking activity within the project and in order to significantly reduce the incredible backlog, members are encouraged to review all articles marked with the Underlinked Template Message - {{underlinked}} - a list of which can be found here - to analyze the worthiness of the template message on the given article. Articles that have nothing to link or are have had wikilinks sufficiently added should have the template removed to clear the backlog and make it easier for editors to find articles in genuine need of wikification. This can be done by any editor; however, all editors should consider joining if they haven't done so already. Thank you!
