B4Melly Talk Page

[edit]

Hello, B4Melly, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Can I be of any help?

[edit]

Hi -

I have been editing WP for a while and often contribute to Indigenous author articles. This is me IRL: [1]. If I can be of any assistance to your project, let me know. Vizjim (talk) 13:49, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Draft notes

[edit]

Hi! I have some draft notes for you. By large this is good, I just have some notes:

  • Avoid hotlinking in articles.
  • The themes section is almost completely unsourced, which poses an issue when it comes to original research. We can only summarize what has already been explicitly stated in the source material. Anything that could be seen as a subjective statement such as an opinion or interpretation should be attributed to the person making the statement. This especially applies to terms or phrases like 'vibrant', as these can actually make a page seem promotional.
You want to make sure to avoid statements like "The vibrant and durative voices from Indigenous communities emerge to create a palpably transformative experience for Indigenous and non-Indigenous readers." unless you're attributing it to someone.
  • This needs more sourcing to back up the claims. This is an issue especially with the themes section, but in general the article could use more sourcing.

I think you have a good base here - this needs some fine-tuning, is all. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:13, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
