Regarding:

August 2007
Welcome, and thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. B. van der Wee 21:43, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Not a test and not vandalism--we tried to "undo" the same edit at the same time and somehow that resulted in my "undo" undoing yours. Before flagging someone as a vandal I always check the person's record (at least anymore)--it's not something you want to do lightly.--Todd 01:35, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalProof Application

[edit]

Dear B. van der Wee,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Daniel 10:29, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Editors matter

[edit]

Regarding your block notice, please take into consideration the Wikipedia essay "Editors Matter" regarding userspace:

Wikipedia's most important resource is its contributors. When considering the value of content in projectspace and userspace, don't just inflexibly apply policies and guidelines; think about the impact of the content on editors' feelings, and whether deleting the content may drive them away.

Don't drive me away, I make good edits, all I want is a blank talk page, there is no reason not to have a blank talk page, there is nothing there but misunderstandings and confusion, I have done nothing wrong, look at my edits carefully. Also I don't want to sign up for an account, please don't treat IPs like second class citizens, this is a much more serious problem than vandalism, a large majority of edits come from anon IPs and they are perfectly good edits. -- 71.191.36.194 03:16, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]

{{unblock|I am a network admin and rarely contribute to wikipedia, my most recent foray was to see if our network IP address could be blocked due to the amount of vandalism our students bring to wikipedia pages. There are up to 800 users on our single IP address and I believe my account has been flagged for this reason. I did use a different account BartManInNZ for a time but have only ever used this account B. van der Wee in recent times - I have no reason to use multiple accounts and if you look at my contributions on this account I do try and make a positive difference when and where I can. Please check the following talk page for my IP address: User_talk:116.199.213.14 I believe that CheckUser has made an error in this case.}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

I think you are right in that I saw an account that had the exact same information as you, and I did not look good enough in the editing patterns to determine if it was a coincidence. Please accept my apologies for the error.

Request handled by:MuZemike

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:07, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2013 and beyond

[edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
