Fair use rationale for Image:Sonnonagonyfilm.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Sonnonagonyfilm.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. - I have done as you requested. Thank you for the explanation. B-ham 14:46, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Commercial use of Image:Westpointclubs.jpg

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Westpointclubs.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Westpointclubs.jpg has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Westpointclubs.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 17:14, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Flowfightingflyer.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Flowfightingflyer.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:07, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sonnoncitycrest.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sonnoncitycrest.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:59, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scott Sonnen and Mensa

[edit]

Hi there. I don't have anything in particular against including Sonnen in the list of Mensans, but referencing it is tricky. If I don't remove him from the list, someone else will. Discussion forums don't fulfill the Reliable Source requirements, although, if he included in his bio that he's a member of Mensa, that would be sufficient. If you know him, maybe you can make a suggestion? Or maybe you can find another reference (I've tried Google to no avail). Nobody of consequence 14:10, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Additions to List of Mensans

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to List of Mensans, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. See also: Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. —72.75.79.128 (talk · contribs) 14:25, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding Scott Sonnon‎ to the list without a reliable source to back it up ... the subject's own website and web discussion forums do not meet this criteria ... Please also be aware of Wikipedia:Three-revert rule as a reason for your being blocked from editing Wikipedia and STOP ADDING THIS NAME ... Happy Editing! —72.75.79.128 (talk · contribs) 15:11, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, note that a discussion forum simply isn't considered a reliable reference. Nobody of consequence 17:31, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know that wiki policy didn't accept corporate announcements as reliable references. If a more reliable reference is made, then I'll re-link it. If not, I'll concede to this policy. Sorry I wasn't aware of it earlier. User:B-ham 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Corporate announcements are probably fine, but the ref provided is just an unverifiable discussion forum, not an official announcement. We can't use it for the same reason we can't use blogs and such. They're just not reliable sources. Thank you. Nobody of consequence 03:31, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'm understanding your point. However, the link was to a specific announcement by one of their faculty members as a "sticky" in their announcement section. Regardless, I emailed their corporate email to ask if there was an official press release. If there is, how should I proceed? User:B-ham 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi there, sorry I didn't notice this until now. If there IS a press release, it's always helpful if it's available online someplace (like on prnewswire.com or some such site). Is 72.75.79.128 helping you? He may know a bit more about this than me. Nobody of consequence 02:07, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scott Sonnon

[edit]

It appears that you probably have a likely conflict of interest in respect of Scott Sonnen. Please restrict yourself to comments on the Talk page, and do not suggest any content that is not supported by reliable independent sources. Thanks. Guy (Help!) 17:47, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand how failure to provide a reliable independent source constitutes as a conflict of interest. You've blotted out that page because of what specific reason? I've replaced what I can see as non-POV info on the topic. User Talk:B-ham 1 November 2007 (UTC)
  • What you have done is to completely ignore my recommendation to stick to the talk page due to your evident conflict of interest, and reposted verbatim pretty much the entire content. Bad idea. Build it up again bit by bit, in discussion, on the discussion page, and citing reliable sources for everything. Then people can judge it, add it to the article. DO NOT repost that content again. It is a long way from being neutral, as several people have noted. Guy (Help!) 18:44, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I certainly did't intend to misunderstand your initial request. I'll try and contribute as per your clarification. Thank you. (User:-Bham) 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Before continuing to edit, please read over the policies at WP:5P. I'll have to warn you more sternly that this. Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Bearian 20:00, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy

[edit]

Hello, Grasshopper ... I see that you have picked up the use of {{cite web}} for references ... I'm still dubious about Scott Sonnon meeting the WP:BIO notoriety criteria, but I didn't have anything better to do so I "prettied it up" like a good little WikiGnome ... BTW, if being a fanboy is a de facto conflict of interest issue, then most of the current editors would have to recuse themselves ... so I, for one, am willing to overlook your initial zealousness as being well-intended, rather than vanispamcruftisement or some other agenda. :-) Happy Editing! —72.75.79.128 (talk · contribs) 05:06, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the help you've given me. I'll make sure that my contributions remain appropriate to cited sources. Thanks again. B-ham (talk · contribs) 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Yer welcome ... BTW, please use five tildes (~~~~~) with your custom signature so that the TIME is recorded as well as the DATE, and don't forget the Edit summary when you make changes to an article ... Happy Editing! —72.75.79.128 15:00, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging Pavel Tsatsouline for deletion

[edit]

Hello, B-ham ... I recently encountered the article about Pavel Tsatsouline while performing either New Page Patrol, Recent changes patrol, or Counter-Vandalism Unit activities, and in my opinion as a Wikipedia editor, it either lacks sufficient Attribution that it satisfies the notability criteria for Biographies, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it reads like blatant Vanispmcruftisment.

The point is that I plan to tag Pavel Tsatsouline (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) with either a {{prod}} that explains my reasons why I believe that it should be deleted, or else a {{db-bio}} tag for speedy deletion (CSD A7).

I have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article or a recent contributor to it; I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about the article on its Discussion page ... please respond either there or on this Talk page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation. Standard vandalism warnings

[edit]

Hello ... your attempt to chastise User:72.37.203.74 (talk · contribs) is commendable, but in the future, please use the standard templates listed under Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace, such as {{uw-unsor1}} or {{uw-vandalism1}} ... Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Samboleglockcropped.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Samboleglockcropped.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:28, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Valery Fedorenko

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Valery Fedorenko. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Valery Fedorenko. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:24, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Article Incubator/Valery Fedorenko, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Article Incubator/Valery Fedorenko and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:Article Incubator/Valery Fedorenko during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
