{{editsemiprotected}} St Christopher's College of Medicine (SCCM) was the subject of BBC coverage which highlighted the school as an example of a loophole allowing essentially unregulated medical schools to operate in the UK.[2] This led to an investigation by the General Medical Council,[3] resulting in the withdrawal of registration of at least one doctor. The GMC website was subsequently amended to include a list of schools deemed unacceptable for registration, including St Christopher's College of Medicine.[4][5][6]. St Christopher Iba Mar Diop (SCIMD) College of Medicine came into existence in 2006 and now accredited with Premier College status by the UK-based Accreditation Service for International Colleges, ASIC,[7] which allows local and foreign students to study in the College, but is deemed unacceptable by the GMC for primary registration[8].
