Heads Up: My Edit of Lung Cancer

[edit]

Hey Axl:

Hope this finds you well. When you get a minute, check out the new section I added re: "Other Causes" of lung cancer. Found the source this morning. If you don't like whats in there, just feel free to blank any or all of it, tweak it, or whatever you wish to do. Take care, and thanks for that voodoo that you do so well.

Best regards: Cliff (a/k/a "Uploadvirus") (talk) 17:19, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DVT

[edit]

Any thoughts on the wisdom of this[1] edit is it relates to my concerns at Talk:Deep_vein_thrombosis#What_do_to_with_minor.2Frare_forms.2Fcorollaries_of_DVT.3F? Thanks. Biosthmors (talk) 19:11, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am not familiar with the phrase "phlegmasia alba dolens". The reference is a little old. Have you looked for a more up to date reference? I presume that your major references don't describe this, so it probably isn't that important. Axl ¤ [Talk] 19:40, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. After I searched for reviews, 4 came up out of 31 original articles. The most recent review is this one[2] and it hasn't been cited. Before that a 1997 review[3] has been cited once. A 1995 review that mentions it (not sure on the detail, don't have access) is cited 88 times.[4] A 1992 French language review also mentions it. Biosthmors (talk) 19:50, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It would be reasonable to include one sentence that mentions it. It would also be reasonable not to mention it all. Axl ¤ [Talk] 19:52, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Biosthmors (talk) 19:54, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Giant anteater, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Epoch (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Parkinson's science learning project in Wikiversity

[edit]

Hi. I'd like to bring your attention to a new learning project in Wikiversity. As you have been involved with the discussion on the wikipedia Parkinson's disease page I felt you might be interested in looking at the project and perhaps even contributing material to it. Please see my Talk page, http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/User_talk:Droflet#The_Science_Behind_Parkinson.27s_learning_project , the subpage, http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/User_talk:Droflet/ProjectDescription or the project itself , http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Portal:The_Science_Behind_Parkinson%27s . It would be great if you could bring the project to the attention of others who might be interested in helping us develop it. Thanks.

Amphibian

[edit]

Thank you for doing such a detailed and helpful GA review of Amphibian. We are making steady progress through the sections, but I thought I would mention that it would be helpful to me, for personal reasons, if the review could be concluded by the end of the month. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:39, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I'll do my best. We are close to the end now. Axl ¤ [Talk] 09:06, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Frog

[edit]

Thank you for your help and comments on the Frog FAC. I have now edited the lead section so that it is the decline in frogs and not amphibian declines that is mentioned there.

If you are thinking of working through other sections of the article, I would be glad if you could turn your attention to the "Distribution and conservation status" section, which may need attention more than some of the other sections. In the Frog article, I do not cover declining populations to any great extent because they are covered in the linked article Decline in amphibian populations. I'm happy to work further on the article and need to resolve issues as soon as possible. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:11, 14 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your co-operation. It is a long article and it will take me a while to finish a full review. Since you are asking me to check the "Distribution and conservation" section first, I shall do that. Axl ¤ [Talk] 09:56, 14 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I had the impression that Sasata was reviewing Frog for FAC but in view of this, it is probably a good and neutral thing for you to take over the review. I look forward to further co-operating with you on improving the article. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:21, 14 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for all the work you put into reviewing Frog. I much appreciate your support.
I will probably put Amphibian up for FAC in November. Do you want to be named as a joint nominator? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:40, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You are most welcome! It is a pleasure to collaborate with you. :-)

Boxer Rebellion

[edit]

Hello,

I am a fairly new Wikipedia user, and am currently involved in a minor dispute over the citations in the Boxer Rebellion article. I requested citations for a great deal of unsourced content, but this request seems to have drawn a 50 Cent Party member. Whereas, I am not certain that user Rajmaan is such, his editing history does seem to indicate this. The article in question, seems to require impartial assistance, and sadly the neutrality check request seems to have drawn very few editors and no administrators. You seem to be somewhat involved with China issues, so I decided to ask for your assistance. I would be very grateful if you would provide me with some help in ensuring that the article receives some attention.

Many Thanks,

KeepitImpartial (talk) 21:30, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, KeepitImpartial. I'm not sure why have asked me to assist with this article; I rarely edit China-related articles. Anyway, I have left notes at the relevant WikiProject talk pages to ask for their input.
Your characterization of Rajmaan as a "50 Cent Party member" is an ad hominem attack. You should avoid doing that. Axl ¤ [Talk] 06:15, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Axl,

Thank you for your help. As I said in my last post; I am rather new to Wikipedia editing. I noticed that you had added a China barnstar to the page of a user, who frequently edits China related articles. Thus, I assumed that you had some expertise in China-related matters. As for the "ad hominen attack", 50 cent party members are a very real issue in China-related journalism, (Please see the comments section, of any China-related article, on the website of The Diplomat.) and thus it seems only logical that the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China would see the editing of Wikipedia articles, such as the one in question, as logically within its purview. I think that members of the China editing community should be aware of such. This said, I have no proof that the aforementioned user is acting under orders, and do believe that I was careful in stating this. Anyway, as I said previously, I do appreciate your help.

Regards,

KeepitImpartial (talk) 07:44, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello axl. Keepitimpartial firstly used an undeclared sockpuppet account to tag the article, and then he tagged source information with citation needed and removed other source information. See Talk:Boxer_Rebellion#Removal_of_request_for_citations. Fyi, the boxer rebellion has nothing to do with the chinese communist party. Chinese communist party history publications are actually critical of the imperial government of china at the time as feudal and corrupt and the cause of china's downfall, and only view the boxers as good. I take the opposite point of view, and it seems keepitimpartial is critical of both. I hope he does not personally attack me again.Rajmaan (talk) 01:37, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rajmaan,

Thank you for recognizing that I do my best to stay impartial. Let's move this conversation to the talk page of the article in question.

What's your idea with Template:X2, by the way? Just curious. Thanks! Biosthmors (talk) 19:35, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is a sandbox page. I use those template pages to draw up rough drafts, especially if the message includes complex formatting. In the past, I have been stung when long messages don't save properly due to some internet/IT quirk. It also gives me a chance to review my statements and amend them if necessary before they "go live". Axl ¤ [Talk] 21:36, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, I try to make it a habit to copy everything I post in the edit box before I click save... Something else to put down on my list of things to tell student editors. Biosthmors (talk) 22:00, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I’d like to thank you for reviewing the Long-tailed Ground Roller’s FAC nearly a year ago, and apologize for having to step away from Wikipedia prior to the FAC’s completion to deal with my studies. I am puzzled at your comment "I am unconvinced that revdeletion is an important part of dealing with copyright violations." at Bilby RfA. In the case of a copyright violation that does not result in the deletion of the entire article, it has become established practice to revdel the intervening edits.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 15:32, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
