Did you know that, just because something is part of the public record, it doesn't mean it SHOULD go onto a Wiki page? I won't be removing your content from the Johnny Manziel article, though I don't believe it is constructive. --BroJohnE (talk) 20:24, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- Response: Wikipedia is a source that should reflect accurate and useful information about a specific topic. As to Personal Biographies, neither you or anyone should use this medium to "pick and choose" what information is posted about a person. The fact is, if that information is true and it can be verified, then anyone should be able to publish it. Whether the information about him is "constructive" is irrelevant. Your argument is analogous as stating that "The watergate incident is not constructive therefore it should not be posted in President Nixon's page"
- You didn't get what I was talking about. My contention isn't that you should be able to publish true and verified content, but that all true and verified content need not be published. You haven't been a part of the effort to build the page as of yet, and now your contribution seems to be analogous to you poking him in the eye with a stick. You are able to publish what you published, and I already made the point above that I'm not going to remove it (because that goes against Wikipedia editing policies...and because you did a good job citing the reference and weren't an anonymous user).
- As for the page not being a medium to "'pick and choose' what information is posted about a person," that's all any editor can do. That's what you did, and me too. I merely chose different content than you. I like the guy. I think Johnny made a series of mistakes, and they came to light on that fateful night. Indications right now say he learned a lot from the incident and will grow from it...so I decided not to make that part of his life part of the article.
- Incidentally, I was REALLY glad that you put the content on the page using your Wikipedia username. Even though I didn't particularly care for your contribution, I can't help but appreciate your boldness and your willingness to interact about it.
- Lastly, do you think that we can move this discussion to the Johnny Manziel talk page? It would probably be more appropriate to be there rather than on your personal talk page (which I took the liberty to write on). I think your input would actually add a lot. Lemme know! --BroJohnE (talk) 23:13, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
Please see my update that I left. Again, I do not think the information that was posted was indicative of "repetitive criminal" behavior. The information that was previously posted is simply enough information regarding the material.
- Hi! For what it's worth, I enjoyed interacting with you over the last couple days. I thought that your heading recommendation of "Personal" for the content you added feels right too. That was a bullseye. I learned a lot about the protection request process...mainly by doing it wrong and being declined. It wasn't entirely clear what to do or how to do it at first, and I'm afraid it's only remotely more clear now.
- I knew that information about the summer incident would end up on the page eventually, but I wasn't going to make it easy on anyone who put it up there improperly...which you didn't...dang it. ;-) When I saw your edit the first time, I knew it was there to stay. It was in the right place, done the right way.
- Incidentally, some of my very best friends are in Blacksburg working at VTech. I visit them about every other year, and I buy a T-shirt each time. Folks down here in Texas ask my why I wear those shirts all the time. I just like 'em, and I like begin reminded of my friends and the campus there. Did you happen to go to VTech? --BroJohnE (talk) 14:04, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
I went to University of Maryland but I have visited VTech a few times. Great campus and beautiful setting. I am glad we got the issue resolved, I enjoy and truly appreciate the value that Wikipedia adds to the online community which is why I decided to pursue that the information be posted. Wikipedia should always reflect facts and accurate information which adds to the civility and the truthfulness of the medium.
It does seem you are TA&M advocate. Congrats on a great QB and I am sure he would do great whether he wins the Heisman or not. Apparently that was one of the primary arguments over this information but I doubt that it will affect his status. He has accomplished great things in and out the field.
Moreover, this process has also made me more familiarized with the Wikipedia process which I actually found it interesting. I look forward to continue to contribute to the wiki community.

- I was wondering if you could check out the "Personal" section on the Johnny Manziel page and give me your thoughts or suggestions. C'ya! --BroJohnE (talk) 00:46, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi! Would you think it OK if I removed the mug shot from the Johnny Manziel article? I have some thoughts on the manziel talk page. C'ya! --BroJohnE (talk) 14:19, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
