[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Donald Albury 00:21, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Seminole Wars. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you.--Cúchullain t/c 19:59, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Second Seminole War, you will be blocked from editing. --Cúchullain t/c 20:03, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- I noticed that you've been adding a book that you (apparently) wrote about Florida history to the bibliographies of relevant articles, and that your edits have been repeatedly removed. However, I don't see a good explanation of the reasoning behind those removals on your talk page, so here you go.
- A new reference is generally not added to an article unless info from that source is also added and cited in the text. Otherwise, it can be (mis)construed as simply promoting the book, especially if it seems that the author himself is the one doing the adding. In fact, wikipedia policy frowns upon authors citing their own work at all, since doing so usually violates the original research rule.
- The book sounds interesting, and I'll try to pick it up and use it to update Florida articles as needed. It probably won't be a particularly quick process, though, since the school year is about to start and I'll be crazy busy. In the meantime, I hope you'll stick around here and add your expertise wherever it's needed. Zeng8r (talk) 21:42, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
