2012 Yemeni presidential election
Hi
Do you the electoral/constitutional system used for the election? Panam2014 (talk) 00:31, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Panam2014
- Sorry, didn't get it.
- What do you mean exactly? Awam King (talk) 00:38, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- The conditions to permit to the candidate to be elected. The electoral law. Panam2014 (talk) 00:39, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Of course not. Yemeni electoral law says there should be two to compete for the presidency, and in this election it was only Hadi. Awam King (talk) 00:45, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- So the election was inconstitutional or the electoral law was changed late 2011 by HoR? Panam2014 (talk) 00:49, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Wasn't constitutional 100%, but the Parliament approved Hadi as only candidate in this election. All political parties agreed on Hadi too. I mean there was a national and regional consensus on Hadi as a temporary president for two years. Awam King (talk) 01:04, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Do you have the source about HoR approval? We could add it to the article. Panam2014 (talk) 01:14, 11 February 2023 (UTC)

- Thank you.
- Also, now is Rashad Alimi became head of GPC? Panam2014 (talk) 05:01, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- This was a tough one, but I believe so. There's very little availble sourcing. The thing is, it certainly isn't Hadi anymore, he's been completely removed from public life. And this statement on the GPC's 40th anniversary refers to Alimi as the party's political leader. Furthermore, the GPC rules that the Hadi faction was following provide for the sitting head of state becoming the party's leader [1]. That's what led to the Saleh-Hadi dispute over the party leadership in the first place. Of course, if you can find anything more authoritative that would be welcome. 25stargeneral (talk) 05:14, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- No, Al-Alimi needs to be elected or chosen by GPC members. He is just a GPC member. Awam King (talk) 14:08, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- So GPC has no chairman, only VP and SG? Panam2014 (talk) 21:56, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- We have many GPCs now. For Sanaa-based GPC, it is Sadeq Ameen Abu Ras. Other GPCs haven't yet. While the speaker of the Parliament Sultan al-barkani is still GPC assistant SG. Awam King (talk) 22:20, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Good to know. I'll fix it. 25stargeneral (talk) 05:01, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
