Stop edit warring

[edit]

Although WP:FRESHSTART affords you the option to start a new account, using that account to start an edit war, as you have at Islam in Europe and Shyam Aryal, is not allowed under the spirit of a fresh start. Please read Wikipedia:Bold, revert, discuss cycle, to see some advice on how to manage disagreements by discussing them on talk pages instead using the Undo button. I went by the by the 3 revert edit rule. I stopped after that. So I don't class that as edit warring

Thanks for observing 3RR, AvatarofPride Ibadibam (talk) 17:34, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm honestly okay if they really want to edit it, now, I'm cool with it, it felt a bit targeted that Ken was going through rather indiscriminately on my work. I didn't think it was fair to revert grammar corrections. If he had fixed the issue in question rather than destroying the grammar corrections, in the process, I personally saw that as a best outcome, correct me if I'm wrong AvatarofPride (talk) 17:38, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Reading manual of style, never mind I apologise for the disruptive editing, it was all meant in good will AvatarofPride (talk) 17:47, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, well, BMK has been working on Wikipedia for a long time, has very strong opinions about the right way to do things (many of which are different from mine), and isn't shy about implementing those opinions. He and I have had a couple of disagreements in the past, but I know he cares about Wikipedia the same as you and I do. Sometimes longtime editors get so sick of dealing with vandals and spammers that we forget to have patience with new editors who are learning Wikipedia standards and culture. Just keep doing the best you can, assume good faith, and keep learning about the manual of style and guidelines, and you'll become a great Wikipedian. Cheers, Ibadibam (talk) 00:59, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I see you say this account is a Fresh start but it is not. If you read the policy you will see why. There are two things that must be done for a new account to truly be a fresh start. 1st, "The old account must be clearly discontinued." It does look like you have done this. 2nd, "the new account must avoid editing patterns or behaviors that would allow other users to recognize and identify the account." You have not done this. You have gone right back to the articles you were editing and started to edit war to preserve your edits from your other account. The final sentence from the first paragraph of the policy lays it out, "It is expected that the new account will be a true "fresh start", will edit in new areas and avoid old disputes, and will follow community norms of behavior." You need to walk away from the areas where you were editing and look for new things to edit if you really want to claim a fresh start. ~ GB fan 19:04, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

To be fair, AvatarofPride, I don't think you really needed a fresh start. You had strayed from a couple of guidelines and had a little misunderstanding with a couple of editors, which are normal for new editors. But most fresh starts are for people who made very serious mistakes. Ibadibam (talk) 00:48, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Which I have done since the last talk section. I found the amount of new stuff cropping up on my old page was overwhelming, I simply wanted a fresh start to clear my mind a little, I get nerves easily and dwell on criticism, I felt it was personally necessary to make myself feel better about editing honestly. I feel better about criticism now its afresh and I have a better state of mind "I'm honestly okay if they really want to edit it now" you won't see me on those old pages anymore :) AvatarofPride (talk) 17:14, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply, AvatarofPride, that makes sense. Ibadibam (talk) 18:23, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
