Earth Overshoot Day
[edit]Thanks for your thoughtful comment on reverting my deletion of a monovocal criticism section in Earth Overshoot Day. I agree that the concept is subject to criticism, but there is also substantive criticism in the preceding "Background" section. I'm not satisfied with the section heading "Background"; it really only applies to the first paragraph. But "Criticism" has problems as well; as discussed in WP:Criticism, it tends to give undue emphasis to the most antagonistic perspective on a topic. Maybe the criticism in "Background" and in "Criticism" could be combined under a new heading. "Method", "Calculating EOD", "Reception" (a more standard heading). What do you think? -- ℜob C. alias ALAROB 19:10, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
I think that the article mainly needs more content, more discussion about the concept. This is hard to find. But for something that is so well known it seems to mainly be a meme, a talking point that is accepted as useful but far from correct. Not much real discussion is happening, as any negative comments are shunned as people do not want to not appear to disparage the real issues it has come to symbolize. Perhaps a more thorough discussion on this page could help with this in some way, but more voices that can be referenced are needed for that. Avangorok (talk) 20:06, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
