Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Whidbey Examiner
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Whidbey Examiner, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your Whidbey Examiner draft
[edit]Hi Austin, thanks for starting Draft:Whidbey Examiner. A couple tips for you:
- This page right here is your "talk page," and once you've received a message and dealt with it, you're free to delete anything you no longer need. So, for instance, you might want to delete the notification above, which just reflects a basic misunderstanding of what you were trying to do. It's up to you.
- Also, I don't know if you noticed, but there's a small footnote at the end of this newspaper's line on the page you started from. That's my note to indicate this particular paper has an entry in the book New Editions. It's not free online, but I currently have a physical copy checked out of the library. There's a ~1 page entry on this paper, it should make a really useful source. If you make an account at archive.org (which I'd highly recommend), you can check out a digital copy for an hour at a time (or, I think there are ways to check it out longer.) The book's page on archive.org is here.
Good luck, and give a shout if you have questions! -Pete Forsyth (talk) 00:08, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
News On Wiki check-in
[edit]Hi there! Thank you for your interest in our campaign to improve the public's knowledge about local newspapers. Time has flown since we got going in September, and our six month campaign ends in just a month! We'd like to check in with you about work you have done, or any articles you'd like to write or edit to do before we wrap up.
We published a mid-campaign report, highlighting strong work from several Wikipedia editors (both new wiki folks and veterans); contributions from Kristy Roschke's journalism course at Arizona State University; and strong engagement from groups like AfroCROWD and Wikimedians of the Caribbean.
As we begin our final push, we would love to learn what you have been working on, or help you with any challenges. We're hosting several informal video conference sessions in the next week. (If that format is no good for you, just let us know.) We'd love to hear what newspapers have caught your interest, any articles you've already written, and also any kind of support you could use in writing up newspapers that lack Wikipedia entries. We'll focus especially on newspapers of the Caribbean in our final month, as we continue to work on Black-owned U.S. newspapers, and newspapers of Washington State.
Please register for one of these Zoom meetings. If these times don't work for you, or if you hate Zoom, etc., just reply here (please include the text "[[User:Peteforsyth]] and [[User:Shanluan]]
" so we get notifications), and we'll find another way to connect with you.
