User talk:Aurichalcum
Hi Aurichalcum thanks for your more extensive update to the quick-fix I did this morning to World population estimates.... I didn’t have time to look into estimates for the other years but while working on something else realised that the 2040 estimate previously there was way out of date and superseded long ago by revised estimates, hence my desire to update it (and draw attention to the anomaly).
The figure you've quoted certainly looks a lot better than just having a completely round "milestone" as I'd left it, however they are of course only estimates so in a way figures rounded to the nearest tens or hundreds of thousands would make a lot of sense and be less misleading.
What do you think? Should we round off all the estimated/projection figures? I'd be interested to know your thoughts on this.
Anyhow, thanks again! Kind Regards Barryz1 (talk) 11:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, User:Barryz1.
- I admit that accuracy of estimated population figures is very low not only in the future but also in the past. However, I also think it is better to quote estimated figures precisely, because this table offers population estimates from several sources which would suggest that there exists actually no consensus even among three estimataions announced in the last year.
- If you want to round figures, all the other estimates should be rounded with a note like: Note: all the estimated population figures are rounded to four decimal digits.03:30, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Aurichalcum (talk) 05:58, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 29
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited List of urban areas by population, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page CMR (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
