Thanks. I am just experimenting things around here... Ah, I am just wondering that the wikipedia server stores so much info, even history, will this cost a lot of space on the hard drive?

From what I've heard, the full database is something in the vicinity of 43 gigabytes. :) On the one hand, text doesn't take much space... on the other hand, there's an awful lot of it. That's what the {{helpme}} tag does. It calls attention to people who monitor WP:WATCH and we know when you reply because every time you edit a page it gets added to your watchlist (see the link at the top?) so your talk page is on our personal watchlists. As for your previous talk page, I'm guessing you're referring to the talk page that was associated with your IP address. Since you've created a new account, you get a brand new one that you can take with you wherever you log in. -- Netsnipe ► 02:41, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the {{helpme}} categorizes your user-talkpage in a category, and an IRC bot checks the category every 3 minutes. If it finds someone in the category, it alerts us in the #wikipedia-bootcamp IRC channel that someone needs help. GeorgeMoney (talk) 05:12, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HTML code

Can anyone explain the use of <noinclude> and w: in front of something? thanks so much

The code used here on Wikipedia is wikicode, a variant on HTML code. a noinclude tag would be used for content that is not supposed to appear on a page. This is mostly found in templatess, but I would assume could be used anywhere. I think the w: tag is for content found on another Wikiproject, but I am not exactly sure which one. Sorry that I could not provide a more detailed response. The noinclude tag makes it so something appeares on the template page but not when someone actually uses the template. The w: thing is for interwikis that link to wikipedia. So for example, if you wanted to link to meta-wiki, you would use m: [[m:ParserFunctions]], so to link to wikipedia from another project, it is [[w:Page]].
