Innapropriate comments

Once again, comments like this are innapropriate, as is spamming other user's talk pages insisting that they take a course of action on an article. As we've been through this song and dance before, I'll simply remind you that you will be blocked if you keep this up. --InShaneee 21:53, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Go right ahead and initiate an RfC if you feel that's neccisary, but that doesn't allow you to put an attack of that sort on a talk page, whether you originally wrote it or not. Nor would you be excempt from the wikipedia policies I have been doing my best to enforce while an RfC is ongoing. --InShaneee 22:12, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Firstly, I never said anything about you, I was commenting about your conduct, which I do consider innapropriate. Secondly, read the first few lines of WP:RPA. El C's entitled to his opinion, as am I. Finally, I acknowledged that the words were not your own in the comment above, and I, along with most other wikipedians, and I don't plan to dignify your demands for an apology with a response. --InShaneee 22:47, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Say what you like, but the fact remains: I am doing my best to fully investigate all sides of the situation, and if you respond to a personal attack, no matter how vicious, you are still in violation of wikipedia policy. --InShaneee 18:37, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm being scolded for incivility

Inshanee seems to consider it a personal attack to call another user Iranian, or an Iranian nationalist.

I see no evidence that he's scolding anyone on the Iranian side for personal attacks, even when they consist of accusations like "racist" or "Zionist".

I don't quite understand why he's taking the tack that he is. He seems sincere and well-meaning. Zora 23:01, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Regarding incivility, I was told off by Inshanee for calling the Iranian Wikipedians a "gang". [1] Fair enough, perhaps. But when I reported this [2] and publicised its contents so that at least three admins could see it (including on Inshanee's talk page), it was ignored and not even a warning was given to the author. I do not believe that Inshanee is as sincere and well-meaning as Zora says. The consequence of this blatant unfairness (and perhaps sympathy for the racists) by the admins is that people are quitting or suspending their involvement in Wikipedia, including Inahet, who has never had a warning from an admin and always avoided conflict [3] and me. A lot of Xebat/Diyako's anger - which led to a one month ban - is precisely due to the failure of admins to respond to bad behaviour by those who can only be described as Persian chauvinists. Wikipedia is a bad joke and either the organisation has to change or content will not be taken seriously. If you don't like this comment here, Aucaman, because it may compromise the ridiculous kangaroo court trial set up against you, then please delete it or move it to my talk page.--Ahwaz 06:44, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
As for Zora, I am amazed at her calmness in the face of provocation, for in my mind she has received the worst treatment by some editors and has not responded in kind. However, I'm not convinced by her conviction that sitting tight and working within the rules actually works, when those with the power act unfairly. There are laws in Iran granting equality to all before the law and freedom of speech, but operating within the law to express your opinion never works. The only solution when the powerful and corrupt is to oppose them and their system. The same goes for Wikipedia. The system is outrageously unfair and the rules do not work, so the only answer is confrontation. Perhaps in America, where people are free (except in Guatanamo), this seems odd, but when you see the powerful behave badly then you can understand that no rule or law can ever bring them to account. Opposition is the only way.--Ahwaz 07:00, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Hi Aucaman. Just a quick note to thank you for voting on my RfA, which recently passed 62/13/6. I want to let you know that I will do my best to address all concerns that were raised during the RfA. I will also do my very best live up to this new responsibility and to serve the community, but please let me know if I make any mistakes or if you have any feedback at all on my actions. Finally, if there is anything that I can assist you with - please don't hesitate to ask. Cheers TigerShark 04:07, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

Hurriya notice board has been deleted a few seconds ago

We tried but the system is against us, what can we do? I suggest we create an Arab-related board, a Kurdistan board and an Assyrian one since regional boards are less likely to be put up for deletion. We could certainly collaborate, I'm sure that isn't against Wiki policies. --Inahet 07:10, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #2

The Barnstar Brigade is a new program aimed at giving more very deserving yet unappreciated users barnstars. It will officially start on 2006-04-09, but signing up is encouraged before this date:
"Here in Wikipedia, there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go un-appreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go un-noticed. Sadly, these editors often leave the project. As Esperanzians, we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. A project the size of Wikipedia has thousands of editors, so there are plenty of people out there who deserve recognition, one just has to find them. The object of this program is not to flood editors with Barnstars, but to seek out people who deserve them, and make them feel appreciated."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Information
Welcome to the second issue of the new format Esperanza Newsletter - we hope you still like it! This week, it was delivered diligently by our new dogsbody. MiszaBot (run by Misza13): any execution complaints should go to him. Content comments should be directed at the Esperanza talkpage. Thanks!
  1. The next elections: Approval voting as before and, also as before, an previous leadership member can run. Please submit your name for voting in the relevant section of this page. Voting starts on 2006-04-23 and ends on 2006-04-30. There will be three places up for grabs as KnowledgeOfSelf is leaving Wikipedia. Please see the previously linked page for full details.
  2. The Code of Conduct is now ready for extensive discussion! Specific comments should go to the Code of Conduct talk page, discussion of having one at all should be directed to the main Esperanza talk page.
  3. The current process for accepting proposals for new programs has been deemed fine. All Advisory Council members and the Admin Gen are to endevour to be bold when viewing discussion. If they feel that consensus has been reached, they will act accordingly.
A plea from the editor...
The propsed programs page is terribly underused! Please leave any comments, good or bad, on the page, to help us determine the membership's thoughts on the ideas there.
Signed...

Sources for editing...

Hello Aucaman, I have tried to site primary referrences within the text I wrote, (I didn't finish it yet though). The Torah itself (in specific the books of Exodus and Joshua) are the primary references I am referring to. There is nothing creative there only assemblying info which is contained in other Wiki sources as well, as you can see I link my text to many other Wiki sources.

The purpose for editing the existing article:: I think the present article only referrs to the effects of anti-Semitism through history. I think its necessary, in any encyclopeadic reference not only to consider effects but cuases as well... to try and list the causes of the subject under consideration, in this case causes of the problem of anti-Semitism which includes those on both sides of the argument, as the objective case tends toward the balance of opinions. The article as it stands only describes the effects of anti-Semitism not concidering its geneology. Xeno-phobia is cause I am identifying in the article, Xeno-phobia which exists on both sides of the issue.

I hope you don't completely delete everything I write as others do without explaining your deletion. I have sighted concrete primary resources and not aim at mis-informing anyone. But you can be the judge. If you wish I could sight exact passages from the Torah where it is written that anyone who is caught praying to a God other than that of the God of Isreal should be burned etc...this certainly has been a cause of anti-Semitism although I do not want to sight this text directly as it would certainly be unhealthy and inflamitory even though it is best to give a direct sitation of the facts...anyways... sincerely, -p Paul diffenderfer 22:02, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

I suppose, if you'd like. First and foremost, for calling ManiF a troll. Secondly, for the further acusations and insults against ManiF and myself on my talk page, including his accusations of this 'gang' that he was blocked for making previously. This, along with the fact that there's nothing in his comments that leads me to believe that he is willing to learn from his mistakes in the least. --InShaneee 21:51, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Are you an Israeli Citizen

To me it is so obvious you are. I just want to hear it from the horses mouth. You should not be a shamed of your citizenship or try and hide it. Peoples citizenships do not make them bad it is there actions. And you can not say this is harassement or not civil. I am asking you a question. persian people

so in response you take out material that is already there and is sourced? That is not very logical way of solving the problem is it? What objection could you possibly have to something that is backed by Britannica? If you have sourced material then add them and try to defend it instead of removing other materials that belong there. Thank you.

3RR

Be mindful of 3RR, you should know better as you've been blocked for it twice during the last month. --ManiF 01:04, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Blocking

You've been blocked for WP:3RR violations on Persian people, after being warned and reverting numerous times. This block will expire in 31 hours; please do not continue revert warring when you return. --He:ah? 01:15, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the additional 7 hours, but those appear to be totally different versions? AucamanTalk 01:19, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
was this guy really blocked?
Yes, really. Who are you? AucamanTalk 01:44, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

YO MOMMA.

Please read WP:3RR.
Reverting, in this context, applies to undoing the actions of another editor in whole or part, not necessarily taking a previous version from history and editing that. It may apply to as little as a few words or, in some cases, just one word that is continually added and deleted. Use common sense; don't edit war.
reverting fewer than four times may result in a block depending on context.
While there were several different wordings that you used etc., the gist of each of your edits was the same, was clearly against consensus and disruptive, and you "undid the actions of another editor in whole or part" 6 or 7 times. Just because you didn't revert to the same version each of those 7 times doesn't mean 3RR isn't applicable here.
This is a recurring problem for you, and accordingly, you will be given less leeway each time it happens. This is the third or fourth time you've been blocked for 3rr violations in the last month- not a good record, my friend. Please try and work things out with other editors so this doesn't happen again and we can all be happy. Use talk pages. Use common sense. Try and engender consensus rather than revert warring. Please?
--He:ah? 01:36, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
"clearly against consensus"? This is a group of 3-6 users reverting every edit I make. There are other users sharing my general concerns. They just don't get involved in editing the article. AucamanTalk 01:44, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

hahaha just shut up and learn how to read.

?????? What do you want? AucamanTalk 01:50, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Update

I did not get an answer here. I might have violated 3RR, but you haven't shown me the 4 reverts. And I wasn't "undoing" anyone's work! I was adding sourced material and they were taking them out. So let's see the 4 reverts. AucamanTalk 03:20, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

3RR noticeboard, history of Persian people, your contributions. If a group of 3-6 editors is reverting the edits you make, there is obviously a problem. Please read WP:BLOCK for a more thorough understanding of blocking policy, and please think about how to avoid these sorts of problems surrounding your edits. We have to learn how to play well with others in order to constructively edit here. you have been blocked 4 times in the last month. something is wrong. --He:ah? 06:30, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
How's the second one a revert??? AucamanTalk 06:41, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
3RR = reverting any page in part or in whole more than 3 times in 24 hours. Block stands. NSLE (T+C)(seen this?) at 08:56 UTC (2006-04-11)
I know what 3RR is, but I've not been given a list of 4 reverts. The 3RR form submitted doesn't seem accurate to me (the second "revert" is not a revert - I'm adding in a new paragraph). AucamanTalk 09:10, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
Okay, let me put it this way. Even if it isn't a revert, as you claim, you were edit warring, and incivil. Both are still blockabl. Please just sit the block out. NSLE (T+C)(seen this?) at 09:13 UTC (2006-04-11)

I'm not trying to get you to unblock me. I just want to know what exactly I've done wrong so I won't do it again. If you're telling me that I've been editing the article too many times, well then I don't know which Wikipedia policy I've violated. If you're saying I've been incivil, then I don't know what you're talking about. AucamanTalk 19:29, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Armenians

Armenians are people who migrated to Iran recently. Their origin, is unrelated to Persian people's artilce. Whether they are Aryan or not, I don’t know since we need to study the history of Armenia for the answer.I believe they are Indo European but I don’t know anymore since I have never been that interested. In any case it is completely unrelated to Persians of Iran and their origin and I don’t know why you brought it up. Gol 20:58, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Welcome

Hello Aucaman. That was nice of you to leave that welcoming message, thanks. I'm still learning about Wikipedia, but I think the links at the bottom of the Mizrahim article should be enough for reference material. I also added a new link. I think there are some books in English, but I don't have any. I will try to find something good. It would be better also if the article was called "Mizrahim" instead of "Mizrahi Jews". "Mizrahi Jews" doesn't really make sense since "Mizrahim" is already a Jewish term.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean about my edit on Beverly Hills. I removed it because it looked like the person who added that sentence wants to say that Iranians are classed by the government as "white" but really are not "whites". I've seen people talk like that about Jews and Italians too. I read the other article you gave the link to on Persian people and some of the talk page but I'm not sure what you mean about a "new trend" because it just says that the Aryans were ancestors of Persians. If they're writing that Aryans were also ancestors of Germans, then there is a problem. I found an article (Aryan race) about that so you could write there that Aryans were ancestors of Persians, but not Europeans to make sure that there is nothing else going on.

From what I am reading it looks like a problem similar to the issue of Mizrahi and you could fix it by finding an exact definition of "Persian" because there are Persians who are only Persian-speakers. Do you know what I mean? They speak Persian, but their ancestors were not Persian. I don't know how true that is but I can tell you that in Los Angeles all Iranians call themselves "Persian" even people who are of different ethnicity. Yairzohar 01:52, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

YOU ARE A NO GOOD PHONEY

ALL YOUR ARTICLES ARE COVERT PRo-ISRAELI POV. THOSE EDITORS ARE 100% RIGHT.

I SEE YOUR EDITS AND YOUR LIES AND I AM GOING TO REPORT YOU. JUST TO LET YOU KNOW ISRAEL HAS A WORST HUMAN RIGHTS RECORD THAN IRAN. ISRAEL IS AN ILLICIT STATE AND THE FOUNDERS OF ISRAEL ARE TERRORISTS. WHEN ASKED ABOUT ISRAEL, RETIRED BRITISH SERVICEMEN SAID THEY WISH THEY KILLED THE ISRAELIS...BY THE WAY THE FOUNDERS OF ISRAEL WAGED TERRORIST CAMPAIGNS AGAINST THE BRITISH, CIVILIANS TOO. WHY DON'T YOU GO EDIT THOSE ARTICLES AND MAKE THE WORLD KNOW ABOUT WHAT ISRAEL IS TRYING TO HIDE. 72.57.230.179 05:35, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Reply to your comment

Dear Aucaman, I was a bystander during last few months watching your edits and other Kurdish wikipedians' edits and associated discussions, without interfereing. I have been asked previously to give my vote on the disputes. I voted and I take the responsibility for it. If you read my comments on the same page, you see that I only asked generally all Kurdish wikipedians to revise their view, without mentioning any specific point about you. To me the story was over. However I have been asked again to enter a similar discussion. As I said I was reluctant to continue in this way. I do agree generally with Mani and Zereshk and I think we have very similar viewpoints. I also have no doubt that four Kurdish wikipedians that have been accused of breaking wikipedia policies, they actually did so. And I have no doubt that they are attacking persian pages. About Cyrus, I read also your response which is again unacceptable for me. The guy is a symbol of an ethnic group and a holy figure in Bible. I suggest you not to burn flag of any nation. We should be very careful when we are criticizing respectable figures of different nations or religious groups. National heros, prophets, Gods etc are things that we should comment very carefully on them. Besides, you are by no means an expert on these issues. About your alleged ethnicity, it is not important whether you are Persian or Kurd, Iranian or Russian. You need to revise your views. If you were persian, you would need an even more extensive revision. This is only a suggestion and my personal viewpoint. --Sina Kardar16:10, 16 March 2006 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.57.230.179 (talkcontribs)

Big not huge for Farsi script

Hi, just wanted to say thanks for cutting the Farsi back from huge to just big on Iran. I have this bad habit of editing late at night, especially when I should be asleep. The script didn't look big enough at the time but in the light of day and after some sleep, it did look huge. Thanks again. Green Giant 01:37, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Could you comment on the use of this image in that article? Lily Afshar's image has a fair use tag, so I don't think it can be used in that article. AucamanTalk 22:25, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

It could be used in the article, the problem is it can't be used to make a derivative work, which the combined image is. So that combined image shouldn't be on wikipedia. Image:Lily_afshar.jpg could still be used in the article though, if you were discussing her, but probably not in a general "here is an Iranian woman" sort of way. Thanks for catching that, I have marked the combined image as no license. If you have any other questions let me know - cohesiont 05:44, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Could you leave a comment on Talk:Iranian peoples telling them that the image cannot be used for decorative purposes? I've tried removing the image, but they just put it back in. AucamanTalk 07:04, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Done. :) I didn't remove it from the page right now, I will let it follow the normal procedure, it will be removed within 7 days, unless there is other action. - cohesion 07:22, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. There's also this image which doesn't seem to list its source. AucamanTalk 07:26, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

That picture is okay so stop creating a fuss 72.57.230.179 08:08, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
I agree that the image is not sourced, however, to maintain some neutrality I prefer to deal with images within the normal process, unless they are exceptional enough that I think they may not be handled correctly. The collage image was an example of that. This is a simple "no source" image that I didn't find through any editing of my own, so I hesitate to tag it when you could just as easily, and in a more legitimate way, since you are working on the article. If you have any image questions though I'd be happy to help, but I'm slightly uncomfortable with just pointing out images for me to tag. If you want to learn more about tagging images see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. - cohesion 17:29, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Since it's my first time doing this, I'm going to need some help. I asked Zmmz for the source and he has provided the name of website, not a direct link to the image. The website and most of the images appear to be copyrighted, but I'm not sure how to move on from here. Should I ask Zmmz for a direct link? Or should I add {{imagevio}}? RFAr evidence

I've been spending the last several hours going over this case. I'm about to post some proposals to the decision page. These proposals will actually cover editors other than yourself, as well. Take a look over them, and only provide relevant evidence for whatever you think is missing. Note that even if I move the case to voting now, it won't be closed in 7 days as arbitration is a long process that requires a majority of the active arbitrators to all look at it, so you have time, and I'll be watching for new evidence. I'd already blocked him for one week by the time you messaged me. --InShaneee 14:49, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

What did I remove that you had put in?

Sorry, I'm not clear on what I deleted that you had put in. Tombseye 16:50, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

I was actually putting back the genetics section, but I think the article link has merit as it's an academic work and refers to the Iranian peoples regardless of whether the focus is on the Kurds or not. The 2nd source, I agree, is indeed about Iran and not the Iranian peoples and I will delete it as it lacks relevance. Tombseye 17:46, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Nuclear program of Iran

Hello. Could you have a look at this? Nuclear_program_of_Iran#Zbigniew_Brzezinski, However, the President of Iran recently called for Israel to be "wiped off the map" [31]. I suppose it's simplification and some changes might be made, to make it more factual. I think i could do it. But i don't know farsi, so can't refer to the original text. ellol 11:34, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Based on that, you can't really use my translation. Okay; give me a farsi-english dictionary :-)
I will say you more, most of Russian news agencies also said that he has asked for Israel to be "wiped off the map". I think they just translated it from english.
Actually, I can't do much. E.g., look at the sentence Iranian missiles have banners on parades saying, "Israel should be wiped off the map", "We will trample America under our feet", "Death to America", and "Death to Israel". How can I verify it? I even doubt that you can, coz you surely aren't an officeer serving at Iranian missile base. But after all, this sentence seems to be a weak argument; Soviet posters about U.S. were also not peaceful...
Ask me, if you'll need help with recent events in Russia or with physics (esp. theory of relativity). ellol 06:52, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
Really, thank you. I stopped when didn't find letter " ك " at that keyboard. My knowledge of farsi is zero, but I thought, that I'll at least be able to translate words alone. (Of course, not to actually check your translation, but wanted to show that it could be done by just everybody. May be, was wrong.)
What about "reciting every day"... Yeah, think it's too "tough". In my school, I had no patriotical upbringing -- except may be somehow patriotic view of World War 2.
On the other hand, may be just saying "Death to Israel" and "Death to America" doesn't indicate intention to begin war... It's just ultra-patriotic upbringing.ellol 16:28, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Thank you, but there is no need in word-to-word translation. Could you better say me where is that key situated on keyboard? I don't have a purpose to really check your translation. (For me is enough, that a translation similar to yours was published somewhere in the net.) May be, just "for fun" for myself.
But there are a few who actually believe in what they say and are almost willing to die for it Yes, such actions of Iranian government are quite unbeautiful. In such an age a person often thinks the sense of living is to die for some great idea; the real understanding that the sense of living is living comes later(if comes). It isn't exactly my POV; it's from Probationers by Strugatsky, but i like it.
When people are so young they don't understand life well. Given there's no anti-USA propaganda in Russia, I remember talking with two fellows in 11th grade, they said that we had nukes and would smash down America; that time I spent half an hour to prove to them they were wrong :) But they are not dumb people -- one learns in Moscow State University, another in Institute of Steels and Alloys. ellol 07:58, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
Hello. I "translated" it. Take this with laugh... I composed the text in Russian, now will translate it in English. What will you say about it?
It is doubtless, that rise of new {forces} in Palestina {aimed} against the way of loosers is good and is new spirituality and awakening of readiness in the world of Islam to react against this stain of disgrace (Israel which doesn't go away for too long), which caused calamity of islamic world easterner than Kurds. ellol 16:43, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
