- Please stop. I realize that you may have the best of intentions, but Wikipedia is not a collection of links of links and we do not accept links merely because they exist. Furthermore, while you say you have been editing for some time as an IP, all of your edits with your new account involve adding links to this site. Continuing to add them, despite notification regarding the external links guideline, could lead to a loss of editing privileges, which would not be in anyone's best interest.
- Dear Ckatz, I have posted another message on your discussion site directly before I got this message from you. It is useless to repeat the arguments expressed there, you and everbody else can read them. But your note above, I have to say that with all respect, annoys me. I'm not a little boy (in fact I'm about to turn 50), I'm a long time film researcher and I'm not stupid. You don't have to explain to me that Wikipedia is not a link collection and that a link is not worth of being included to a Wikipedia site just because it exists, this is - forgive me - ridiculous. I didn't refer to any random site, I refered to a scholary project which has usefull additional information for the reader interested in the topics of the related Wikipedia sites (and that's what Wikipedia is about, isn't it: offering free information to everyone). Unfortunatelly You answered to none (!) of my arguments in my email to you (which I, in parts, copied to your discussion site). I'm to old and to experienced in life to play Don Quichote and run against windmills, but I cannot accept arbitrary decisions, even if they come from an administrator (by the way: who is the "we" in Your note above? I think, the "we" are the users/participants of the Wikipedia, so - I just pointed it out on your discussion site - why don't you let them decide wether they find this link usefull or not?) - Finally, a short answer to your remark on my "new account": I have another account under a different name at the German Wikipedia (I'm a native German), but I could'n transfer this name to the English WP becaue it was already taken. So, you should not menace me, because we are all working on a Wikipedia which is "in anyone's best interest", don't we? --Athenaion (talk) 02:52, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Please note that I've already replied to that post, as this one predates your post there. Please also note that I've made no attempt to "menace" you, nor do I see why you need to make such unfounded statements. Moreover, I've not treated you like a "little boy" (your words, not mine), nor have I mistreated you. Simply put, you're directly connected with the site, and you have a conflict of interest in posting it here. Furthermore, by repeatedly posting it you are in fact disrupting the page, whether you mean to or not. If you had chosen to post on the talk page following my initial removal of your link, we wouldn't be here right now. (Please also be aware that what is accepted on the German Wikipedia may or may not reflect what is accepted on the English Wikipedia. While the sites are obviously related, they have standards that are can differ markedly from one another.) Your site may or may not warrant inclusion, but it is not up to you - as someone directly involved with the site - to decide that it is a "a scholarly project which has useful additional information". Again, I'd encourage you to acknowledge the implicit COI you hold with regards to this matter, and to seek input from editors on the talk page. --Ckatzchatspy 03:30, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Link to the "Bibliography of Fantastic Film"
[edit]Dear users/participants of Wikipedia
I have recently added links at the Wikipedia horror film, science fiction film and fantasy film pages which refer to the "Bibliography of Fantastic Film", an international bibliography of the secondary literature on fantastic film focusing on horror, science fiction, fantasy and experimental film. The administrator User_talk:Ckatz has deleted these links several times arguing that Wikipedia is not a compilation of links, that a link to the "Bibliography of Fantastic film is advertisement/spam and violates the rules of Wikipedia, and that I am not allowed to promote a site which I'm involved in as an author. A strange argumentation: not the quality of a linked site matters, but the author/contributor. Finally Ckatz commended me to find another editor to set a link to my bibliography. That suits me fine because I think (as I told the administrator previously) that it should be the decision of the Wikipedia users and not of a single person wether a link to a free scholary bibliography on the topic of the related Wikipedia article is relevant or not. So, following the suggestion of Ckatz, I request You, the users of Wikipedia interested in fantastic film, to check out the "Bibliography of Fantastic Film" and decide by yourself wether it is relevant for a Wikipedia link or not. If yes, please feel free to ad a link to my Bibliography by your own. If You want to send me a message You can use the discussion page of my Wiki username User_talk:Athenaion or email directly to Holger.Schnell@gmx.net.
I have copied this text to the discussion site of the horror, science fiction and fantasy articles of the English Wikipedia. You can also find it at my own Athenaion discussion site. Thanks for Your attention.
