Hello User:Astronomyblog welcome to wikipedia, please go to WP:RSOPINION to see that blogs aren't specified allowable as sources for content.Drift chambers (talk) 09:23, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Drift chambers, are you saying my username is unacceptable? Astronomyblog (talk) 20:35, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh, perhaps you are referring to the reference to the Chandra "blog" that I used as an example on the AVM entry? The AVM article is about a specification and is not about opinions or living people. The page on WP:RSOPINION specifies that "blogs" may be acceptable "so long as the writers are ... professionals in the field on which they write and the blog is subject to the news outlet's full editorial control". It goes on to say "self-published material may be acceptable when produced by an established expert on the topic of the article whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications.". Joe DePasquale (the author of that particular page on the Chandra Mission website) is a professional science image processor working for the Chandra X-ray Center and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. You can find a list of reliable third-party publications he has published at [1] Astronomyblog (talk) 21:43, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Drift chambers, I've had another read through of WP:RSOPINION. It also specifically allows blogs to be used as references under the section WS:RSOPINION#Self-published_and_questionable_sources_as_sources_on_themselves dependent on various provisos. Deletion discussion about Deirdre Costello (actress)

[edit]

Hello, Astronomyblog,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Deirdre Costello (actress) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Deirdre Costello (actress) .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Killer Moff (talk) 12:27, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
