- hi, and I've done the same for San Juan de Gredos. You certainly don't need my permission to remove the ref tag when you've added good-quality references as you've been doing. Happy New Year to you -- --Lockley (talk) 03:51, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Sorry about your request; it kind of got put on the backburner. Were you only looking for locations within Spain? How about that location in Andorra; should that be on the map too? Magog the Ogre (t • c) 01:51, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
OK, I've made the map, and it's here: File:100 montaditos footprint in Spain and Andorra.png. If you wanted something else, or you need bigger dots or whatever, let me know. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 02:52, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Japanese community in Madrid
[edit]Hi! I got notice of the edit.
The pages may say how big the Japanese community is, so I'll have to take a look. I don't think it's fair to remove the information about where the Japanese live without establishing a new subsection Demographics of Madrid.
WhisperToMe (talk) 07:31, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
- You're welcome. I got the number of Japanese persons registered with the Japanese Embassy in Madrid in 1993. The page says that there was also a number of Japanese who registered with the consulate in Barcelona. The same page states the total number of Japanese in all of Spain. Wikipedia does not prohibit creating empty sections, as evidenced by the fact that there exists a template to highlight them and that there are tons of articles with empty sections. As for the relevance of the sections, Iglesias has been controversial since he rose to fame. A section on his public image should be created. Regarding his political views, there's lots of articles about politicians (Sarah Palin, Shinzō Abe, even Teddy Roosevelt, some of them even have their own articles) that have sections on their political views. Why should Iglesias not have its own? He has been on numerous TV programs talking about his views and he's published some books on political science, I'm sure there is enough material. [edit]Well, we will be entering subjective ground there. To me she looks even older in the 2011 photo, as a result of it being darker and taken from a different position.
Anyway, as a compromise, we could use this one from 2014, which looks better than the other two: File:Esperanza Aguirre (2014) - Comité Ejecutivo Regional.jpg. Also it is a far better quality picture from her (the two we are currently discussing about are bad quality images), without it being the photoshoped picture.
For consistency, I usually prefer to use the person's same image for all election articles in which that person stands as candidate, in order to avoid controversies such as quality-related issues (i.e. a later picture having a far superior quality over a previous photo), as well as to maintain the impression that this person is the same one in all elections. Keeping changing photos from one article to other may lead to confusion; usual practice in Wikipedia, as far as I have seen, usually follows this criteria and maintain the same photo for a given person.
As for your last remark, I hardly never overwrite a file. I've only done it in cases where modification is minimal so as to try to avoid having repeated files (such as Joaquín Leguina image, where I only cropped the borders a bit). But again, which version is better to stand for a person infobox is subjective, since there's not an established standard on it. Impru20 (talk) 12:10, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
- Found this image of Aguirre in 2008: File:Esperanza Aguirre 2008 (cropped).jpg. I think we could use the previous one I posted here for the 2015 Madrid municipal election, while using this other one for Aguirre during her time as President (spanning 2003-2012). One of the features she has changed the most in these late years, more than her looking older or younger, is her hair, as she used to have the same distinctive hairstyle during her years as President which she now has changed. Impru20 (talk) 12:34, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
- Answering the comment you have just put here: I know about OVERWRITE, but I don't know how exactly it's applied. I have seen people doing changes and overwiting existing images with the overwritten image remaining in place, so for Joaquín Leguina and Susana Díaz I thought that those could be overwritten if minimal changes were done. Again, those are the exception, not the rule: you can see that I usually upload different images.
- And about using the same pic, see my proposal above. Impru20 (talk) 12:38, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, of course people change, but we must differentiate minimal changes such as the appearance of small wrinkles with complete changes such as Renee Zellweger-like changes. For the matter at hand, I actually like the 2008 picture to be used for the regional elections (as it shows Aguirre halfway during her tenure from 2003 to 2012, and is probably the most recognizable version of her as President) and a later one for the 2015 municipal election (be it the one I proposed or the 2015 image you uploaded, which is not bad either). During her time as President, changes on her appearance were small. From 2008 to 2015, however, she probably has probably undergone too many physical changes (visibly older, slightly different hairstyle and hair coloring) to keep using the same image for the 2015 election, so I may concede on this point.
- About the overwriting issue, yes, I mostly agree with what you say. I only modified those two because I thought changes were too small to be really considered as "overwriting", but anyway, the issue was discussed and different versions were uploaded, so no big deal there. Andalusia 2015 photos
[edit]Superb images the ones you posted in the Andalusian parliamentary election, 2015 article; much better than the previous ones. A request, though; could you make Marin (C's) and Maillo (IU) have the same proportions as Susana Díaz and Moreno photos? That would be one equivalent or close to 709 x 1060 (Moreno is 709 x 1058, so it's fine); as they currently are near 709 x 1140 (height too large). Teresa Rodríguez photo could also have some improvement (it is 709 x 1078; an height maybe a bit large). I'd do it myself, but probably that would be overwriting, which is not encouraged. Neither do I want to upload new images just to crop them a little more than they are now (and, eventually, to fulfill the same function as the current ones); I want to avoid unnecessary duplications. Thanks! Impru20 (talk) 20:15, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Catalonian parliament elections
[edit]Actually, the limit is for 9 parties, but for convention (and with exceptions) only up to 6 are usually shown because above that number the infobox tends to look horrible and too large (when it is meant to be a brief summary). In this case, CUP was discussed to be added to the infobox in the past, but for the reasons mentioned above was prefered to be left out, just as happens in other election articles where the 9-party limit is not used. Intervention in Victor Pradera Larumbe
[edit]Hi, I saw your intervention, comes across as not very prone to collaboration to put an edit your own way, leave (as it happens to be the case), and say now "Discuss the relevant issue (your persistence in adding an unreferenced ethnicity) in the talk page with the pertinent sources". Please bear in mind that it is not a good option to revert edits, even if you happen to be right, especially when I had made by then my request to engage in dispute resolution. Thanks Iñaki LL (talk) 22:08, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
- Following up from the comment you added on my talk page and the history, English is not a problem, incoherent behaviour is. You required a discussion be opened by me, and when I open it you move on to revert again. Now you claim I need to add sources in the talk page, I beg you pardon? I add the link to dispute resolution for your guidance. Regards Iñaki LL (talk) 22:35, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
- O, Ok... First of all, I do not like cross-messaging, as I told you before, so for a better mutual understanding I urge you to post everything here.
- Secondly, you were quick to revert what you did not like, and demand opening a talk section myself. I did, and you did not engage. For your information I added a link (above) to the protocol followed in these cases, you did not follow it. What are we talking about really? Thanks for engaging in dispute resolution and make your content based point, quite straightforward. Iñaki LL (talk) 11:59, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit]So, what's your reasoning behind adding Málaga, a province he is not running for? Doing so would make Garzón the only leader in which two provinces would be shown. Customary practice seems to be to show the province each leader is running for unless that province can't be known beforehand due to the electoral system. Impru20 (talk) 19:19, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- The fact is, that whether Garzón is elected or not for Madrid in three days, the "Málaga" seat will be removed anyway because it is of no relevance for this election. The seat shown in the infobox is not placed because that's the seat they held before the election, but because that's the seat they are running for and will eventually held if they are elected. However, both Rajoy and Sánchez do already hold those seats, so it seems redundant to highlight (again) that they are running for them. All other four leaders are not running for the same seat they held (in fact, Herzog, Iglesias and Rivera did not held any seat at all) and that's why a more descriptive (running for [seat]) is put. But once elected, all of them will be shown as it should (Madrid or Madrid (lost) (in case they are not elected). But by no means is it meant to represent "old" seats, so "electoral memory" makes no sense here. Impru20 (talk) 19:48, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- No, what's the point of removing them? What's the reason? Impru20 (talk) 21:38, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
