More information - reliable sources
[edit]Hello, Asel1234. I see that you are a student in a class assigned to work on Wikipedia. In that case, I owe you a clearer explanation of why I reverted your edits to Eastern Orthodox Church organization. The source you were citing there, "newworldencyclopedia.org", is what we call a "Wikipedia mirror". That means that they take content directly from the English Wikipedia here and re-publish it on the Web. Sometimes this is legitimate and fully licensed, and sometimes they do not give us credit. At any rate, the reason this cannot be used as a source is because Wikipedia itself is not a reliable source. Remember, anyone can change the articles here to say anything! So the fact-checking and editorial oversight is not present for Wikipedia or its mirrors. If you want a reliable source, then look to scholarly journals, books, magazines, newspapers, that kind of thing, from reputable publishers. I hope this helps a bit more than the boilerplate warning messages I left, and happy editing! Elizium23 (talk) 04:26, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi, Elizium23. Thank you for clarifying what a Wikipedia mirror is and picking up on that error! Happy editing to you too. Regards Asel1234
