Pete Ricketts photo

[edit]

I've again reverted your edit changing the photo at Pete Ricketts. While the photo you prefer, and which you uploaded to Commons, is unquestionably better than the original photo in the article, the copyright status of your photo is very much in question.

At Commons, you give the source of the photo as "Pete Ricketts for Governor"; under "Licensing", you write "This is a public headshot of a major political figure". You don't indicate that you took the photo yourself or otherwise have a right to decide its copyright status. I did a Google search for the image, and only found it at the Ricketts website; nothing there indicates that they've released it into public domain.

Please see Commons:Licensing for the Commons policy on acceptable versus unacceptable material. If you think that the Ricketts photo is acceptable, please go to Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Peterickettsheadshot.jpg and explain why; otherwise, the photo will be deleted within a week. Thanks. — Ammodramus (talk) 03:02, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I messed up the link to the deletion-request page at Commons. I've corrected it. — Ammodramus (talk) 12:54, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
