Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; you are welcome to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. Request reason:

I feel I was unfairly blocked. I have only edited one article thus far and it was significantly improved with added content and citations. I am working with the Wiki project GLAM and am a Wikipedian in Residence for my institution. My user name is not the name of an institution, and under Wikipedia guidelines I should not have been blocked unless I was doing something inappropriate. I should only have been "gently encouraged" to change my screen name.Artsbma (talk) 19:32, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Decline reason:

You have stated "Artsbma is a collaboration amongst interns at the Birmingham Museum of Art to improve Wikipedia content regarding art, artists, history, and artifacts." Wikipedia's username policy is that user names that represent groups are not permitted, not merely that they are discouraged. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:37, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I tend to agree, but this matter is probably soonest resolved if you agree to change your username to something else that does not suggest you represent the Birmingham Museum of Art. If you post your suggested new username here using the code {{unblock-un|user=Your New Username}}, an administrator will unblock you to enable you to request a username change.  Sandstein  20:14, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I concur that this userid is obviously related to an organization, and more than "gentle encouragement" was needed. Beware of WP:COI as you move forward in the future, no matter what userid you use. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:17, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Whether you are affiliated with the Birmingham Museum of Art or not, you have unarguably edited the article relating to it. You will not be unblocked without a username change; with one, and provided you take care to avoid conflict of interest, and always provided that your account is used by a single person only, I forsee no problem.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:40, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
