Note about links
[edit]Though the berkeleyheritage.com link is probably appropriate for a few articles, please link to a specific article about a subject versus the main page. Thanks, OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:54, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
This article looks like it has been directly cut and pasted en masse from a single source. This probably is not appropriate for Wikipedia. It is not clear that you have permission to cut and paste this volume of text, which would constitute a copyright violation and plagiarism. Also, the cut and paste job has created somewhat choppy text on Wikipedia with spacing problems. Also, we need multiple references for this material. So you might want to work on this a bit.--Filll (talk | wpc) 18:31, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Addressing your comments
[edit]My article on mission style furniture derives from my book, so I have the right to post it and I think its points about the first mission style chair need to be made.
- That's fine as long as the material is correctly referenced and as long as you are aware that any images or text posted here with the creator's permission are done so with they understanding that they are GFDL or similarly-licensed; i.e., they are free for anyone to use or reprint.
Also: the article I referenced re. Oscar Wilde deals with Aesthetes vs Arts & Crafts and definitely deals with the Swedenborgian church, Rossetti, Wilde, Keith and wherever I put it as a reference.(ArtsandCraftsHistorian Also, I wd like to post an article on the Swedenborgian Church of SF, about which I have written extensively. As with the Mission Furniture, I have the footnotes already and don't want to make new ones. Can I simply post the footnotes at the bottom of the article? The fn numbers superscript are in the article already.
- You can't just cut and paste references. References should follow Wikipedia's reference style; see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. OhNoitsJamie Talk 20:46, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Response to questions
[edit]I responded here to the questions you left on my talk page. Please note that I've archived that talk page; I'd appreciate it if any other questions you leave them on my current, clean-as-a-whistle, active page at User talk:EEMIV.
But, just to encapsulate and anticipate: you'll find many of your questions answered in the policy and guideline pages linked in the Welcome section of this very page. It can be time-consuming to read through it all, but taking the time to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's requirements regarding research, and aids for citing sources, will help ensure that your material finds a welcome place at Wikipedia. Experts in a particular field, as you appear to be, may find in particular Wikipedia's policy against original research frustrating. But, the nature of the project simply is that claims on this web site must first be published in reliable sources. --EEMIV (talk) 20:49, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
