Notability of Blair Wild

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Blair Wild, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Realkyhick 04:54, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And ditto for the rest of the club. --Finngall talk 06:00, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ummm, as a couple of us said above, none of these guys are notable enough to merit an article. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a provider of free web space or a collection of random information. Please read these guidelines if you haven't already. Thank you. --Finngall talk 06:28, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well don't delete the club then, at least give me the chance to update that with the clubs history, its famous players etc.

You haven't deleted the Castlemaine Football Club page so don't delete ours.

  • I'm not an admin and don't have the power to delete pages myself--I just flag them for the people who do. (and it's reassuring that someone's checking my work--lord knows I'm not perfect...)
  • Castlemaine at least makes a claim to notabilty in the article due to its extreme longevity.
  • Due to the nature of Wikipedia, where anyone and create or edit an article, not all articles get the attention they deserve. Therefore, using the existence or quality of article X as a justification for the existence of article Y does not carry a great deal of weight.
  • If the article gets deleted before you have a chance to improve it, that does not preclude its being created again. I suggest creating a subpage of your user page as a workspace, working on the article there, and copying it back over when you're done.
I hope this helps. --Finngall talk 06:47, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the speedy tag for now, but I'll keep it on my watchlist for while. Happy editing, and good night. --Finngall talk 06:50, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of individual players

[edit]

While I can see the case being made for the clubs being notable, I fail to see how individual players are notable. Please refrain from making or remaking further pages unless they have a notability OUTSIDE of playing aussie rules for an amateur club. Sasquatch t|c 07:49, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
