- Links to your hypnosis page most certainly are inappropriate per the external link guidelines and will be deleted. TastyPoutine talk (if you dare) 17:53, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Notability of Coolest Kid on the Planet
[edit]A tag has been placed on Coolest Kid on the Planet requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 22:16, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Reponse to your question
[edit]Hi Arojr, I presume that the school report you are referring to is Transportation and the Farmington canal. I've just read through it. It seems to be exactly the same as the content of the web reference you have given. This means that it will be deleted as a violation of copyright. The main problem with school reports and the like for Wikipedia is that they are Original research.
I've just had a look through all of your contributions to Wikipedia so far and I see that everything you've done so far has referenced trended.net. This is why your contributions are being rejected as spam or as unhelpful. Trended.net is a blog and the Wikipedia policy on using blogs as a source says that they are largely not acceptable.
I don't want to discourage you from contributing to Wikipedia - I'm sure you much that you can contribute - but you need to take care to follow the various policies we have. Here are some pages you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- Tutorial
- How to edit a page
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.
I suggest that you create your next article on your user page and then ask me or another editor to review it before moving it into the main article space. That way you can begin to build a reputation as a reliable contributor. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 23:02, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this, I've been somewhat pre-occupied with the Christmas season. After careful thought I am proposing deletion of the article (see below). As I said earlier, the problem with school reports on Wikipedia is that they are usually original research (which is what they need to be to get a good mark from your teacher). Proposed deletion of Transportation and the Farmington canal
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Transportation and the Farmington canal, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Essay with novel synthesis of information. Speedied once as Copy-vio of editor's blog. Editor removed it from his blog and re-created. Any factual information with reliable sources that is missing from the article Farmington Canal should be merged there.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
