Hi! :) Now you should get a nice brown banner up on the next Wikipedia page you open, telling you that you a new message. I'm glad you finally decided to get an account, I've always thought you'd make a model Wikipedian :) - Haukur Þorgeirsson 21:22, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'd like to wish you a very warm welcome to Wikipedia! — Matt Crypto 22:44, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Matt! I must admit though, that I fear for the state of our household now... Whoever will do the housework if both of us will be sitting paralyzed in front of the computer, refreshing our watchlists?! ;) Arndisdunja 23:06, 31. October 2005.
LOL! I knew there must have been a reason why I hadn't introduced my wife to Wikipedia yet...! — Matt Crypto 17:52, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you were new, and wanted to share some links I thought useful:

I am especialy glad to greet the wife of such a fine contributer as your husband, who wrote Lóðurr, a wikipedia article I was bragging about just minutes ago to a critic of our encyclopedia. Glad to have you, Sam Spade 23:26, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see you have already discovered British playwrights since 1950, and I agree that Wikipedia is awfully lagging behind as far as contemporary British drama is concerned. I hope you'll find enough time to add what you know in this field. Welcome on board. <KF> 22:56, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Arnaldur

[edit]

Sorry, I just couldn't resist when I saw the news on mbl. Funnily, it also mentioned that Ian Flemming won the steel dagger, but they have fixed it now. Anyway, thanks for adding the title. Stefán Ingi (talk) 17:09, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Yule Lads

[edit]

I am glad to see that you posted an article on The Yule Lads. I had been thinking of writing that article myself. However we need to move it to Yule Lads if you have no objection. By normal Wikipedia naming convention we do not use "the" in the title of an article unless "the" is actually part of the proper name, such as The New York Times. I would like to see the article expanded to include a description of each of the lads and what each one does.

I have added the categories Category:Nordic folklore and Category:Christmas characters to the article. I am not sure about the category Category:Elves. Are the lads considered to be elves?

I am interested in the lads because I spent two years in Iceland, '95–'97 and enjoyed it very much. There is a group of us here in California who were in Iceland at that time, and each year we celebrate the lads coming down from the mountains. Today we saw Stúfur on his way down. I would also like to see pictures of each of the lads if we can find some non-copyrighted pictures. •DanMS 19:55, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • P.S. I also added a link to the Icelandic Wikipedia [[is:Jólasveinn]]. If there is a similar entry in the other languages, you could add a similar link to those Wikipedias. •DanMS 20:32, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Takk, þú ert best :) - Haukur 22:22, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I plead for forgiveness, good Lady. You may execute me for it... but only after the event is concluded. ;) → P.MacUidhir (t) (c) 21:00, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Three weeks of admin tools

[edit]

Today three weeks have passed since I was granted access to the administrator toolbox. During this time I have made use of it in the following way:

  • Protections and unprotections: 1
  • Blocks and unblocks: 4
  • Deletions and restorations: 69
  • Rollbacks: 246

I've found that the rollback tool is much more useful than I'd thought for vandalism patrol. In fact it makes that task so easy that I've been doing it more than before. On the other hand I've been surprised by how little the blocking tool is needed. Having done a significant amount of vandalism patrol I have still only blocked one solitary vandal. The great majority of addresses which send out a vandal edit do so only once. Those who do it more often usually stop after a warning or two. Only rarely is a block actually needed and in those cases someone usually beats me to it.

As a side note I haven't retired from writing articles either. I'm still hoping to bring Freyr up to featured status but even though I've already performed more edits on it than on Hrafnkels saga back in the day, a lot of work remains to be done. Community expectations for featured articles have gone up and so have my own ambitions. I'm currently waiting for a couple of books I ordered to arrive and then I may be able to make the final push.

I'm trying my best to live up to the trust you showed in me by supporting my RFA. If ever you feel uncertain whether I'm using the admin tools in the best interests of the project, let me know. I am at any time willing to relinquish the mop and reapply for it to address concerns people have and ensure that I'm not using the admin tools without being trusted to do so. I have to note (with amusement) that this is a somewhat unusual way to address your wife, Haukur ;-) Have you been accused of "blatantly abusing your powers" (or variations) yet? That's when you know you're truly a seasoned admin... — Matt Crypto 23:14, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
*blush* You've got a point there, Matt. Didn't want to leave her out but the template I wrote doesn't quite fit :) I'm hardly seasoned yet and I don't think I've got any accusations! I've got to start deleting fair-use images or something :) Haukur 23:26, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reykjavik Pond

[edit]

I just love that photo of the Reykjavik pond, oh how I long for Iceland. Thanks for putting it online. Brenton.eccles 07:27, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Arndisdunja! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 51 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
