This is an encyclopedia no different than Brittanica

[edit]

Hi, Arkturo. I noticed your message at User talk:Flat Out. Please read about Wikipedia. This is an online encyclopedia, not a free website. We have rules determining what content is notable. If you'd like to write about established comic book characters, try joining WikiProject Comics. The editors there can show you where they need help and how you can contribute. If you're only interested in advertising your creations, then Wikipedia is not the place for you. Your user page reads like an advertisement, so another editor may warn you to tone it down. Your userpage

[edit]

Hello,

Flat Out asked me to comment and I am in general agreement with what Chris Troutman has written. Your user page should portray you as an encyclopedia editor, and that can certainly include some information about your personality and interests. But actively promoting your artwork or comic book projects is not an acceptable use. If you want to upload one or two of your images to Wikimedia Commons, you can do so but please be aware that you will be releasing rights under a Creative Commons license and anyone in the world will be able to re-use your work without your further permission for any purpose, including their financial gain not yours. So think carefully about whether this is a wise choice. If I was you, I would spend some time learning our policies and improving existing comic-related articles or articles on topics like your home town so you can gain some experience with how Wikipedia works. Take care, and welcome to the world's greatest encyclopedia. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:40, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
