Welcome
[edit]Glad to have the help. Feel free to start editing! If you run into a bind, let me know and I'll see if I can help you out. Just some things to keep in mind:
- It's not to interject personal opinions, we want to remain neutral so the "stock removal vs forging" and what is superior would be out.
- It's not a "how to" guide. We can report the process but don't want to provide instruction.
- Ideally everything should be backed up by a reliable source. Blade magazine articles, knife making books, etc are all perfectly acceptable in this regard. If you need help formatting sources, I'll be more than happy to help.
The project is small and the immediate goal is to organize and improve what we have: Knife, Knife making, Damascus steel should be our priorities. A good sister project is the Military task force for swords, bayonets, and military blade articles. The company and maker/designer articles could all use some help too, but they're actually a bit better than what should be our basic pieces. Thanks again, good to see a knifemaker on board the project!--Mike - Μολὼν λαβέ 20:17, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
A belated welcome!
[edit]Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Aradams. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions, specifically to the Orcas Island article. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.
Oh, and one more thing: when you make edits (such as you did earlier today at the Orcas Island article), be sure to add an edit summary. Edits made without an edit summary are subject to being reverted.
Again, welcome! Lhb1239 (talk) 01:25, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
