Speedy deletion declined: Lance Easley

Hello SGMD1. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Lance Easley, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Contains information not in 2012 Green Bay Packers–Seattle Seahawks game. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 05:23, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Your new article

I like the concept, but I had a quick question on the naming...shouldn't it be "referees" (because it is multiple referees who are locked out and its the NFL Referees Association)? I didn't want to boldly move it before I asked you. Go Phightins! (talk) 16:45, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Good point...I just did a quick Google search for "referee lockout" and "referees lockout" and both appear in reliable sources. This Washington Post article uses "NFL referee lockout" while this HuffPost article uses "NFL Referees Lockout" so I don't have a problem either way SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 16:52, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Well, whatever you think, perhaps redirect one to the other? Go Phightins! (talk) 16:56, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good. Just created the redirect. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 17:00, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Great, thanks--Go Phightins! (talk) 17:03, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing inappropriate pages, such as Fail Mary, is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 17:12, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

You know, I don't think I get pissed off very easily. But you just managed to do it. You're accusing me of vandalism? I had to look up what the G3 criteria was for CSD. I wasn't mad about the CSD--I'm well aware that I'm far from well-versed in Wikipedia policies, so when I saw that I had messages and came to my talk page and saw the speedy delete notice, I was neither shocked nor upset. But when I found out that you categorized my entry as vandalism, hell, yes, I was pissed off.
I don't blame you if you don't follow the NFL enough to have heard the many times that night (and in the days afterward) that that play was referred to as the "Fail Mary". But I've been editing here for something like five years, and I don't think I've ever had anyone accuse me of being a vandal. I've certainly never been blocked, of that I'm certain. So you don't do any investigating, you just think that because you've never heard of something, that it must be vandalism.
Well, maybe you should just Google "Fail Mary", friend. No, that's right, I forgot, you're too lazy to research--you shoot first, and don't bother with questions. That's okay, let me Google it for you:[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]:No, they're not all reliable sources (though some are), they're just the ones that came up on the first page.
So now, let me ask you, if someone from one of these sources hears about this "Fail Mary" play, just where are they supposed to go? Did you know we actually have an article on that particular game? And that the only reason that article exists is because of that play? Don't you think someone might search for "Fail Mary"? Is there any harm that accrues from the existence of that redirect? Are you ready to apologize for labeling me a vandal? HuskyHuskie (talk) 04:54, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
"Fail Mary" is a neologism, and I direct your attention to WP:NEO. It differs from previous football related neologisms like Immaculate Reception and Music City Miracle because it is not the widely accepted nickname for the play, and as such cannot be used as the title for the article. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 07:12, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Upon reading WP:RNEUTRAL, I realize I am wrong. Sorry. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 07:37, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
I see that I failed to make clear my central point. I have/had no beef with your belief that the redirect should be removed per policy; I am a complete policy ignoramus and am always the first to acknowledge I know less than pretty much anyone else.
My point was that I am NOT a vandal, and you slandered me by using a deletion criterion that categorized my edit as the work of a vandal (or hoaxer, if I recall correctly). I am a legitimate editor, and presume you are the same, and would not so capriciously label another editor as you did me without taking the time to examine their history. I did not want an apology because you erred on application of policy, but because you were an ass in the way you dealt with me.HuskyHuskie (talk) 15:36, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Personally attacking me isn't really the best way to garner an apology. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 15:38, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
First of all, if one has to strategize and/or negotiate to obtain an apology, it hardly means anything, does it? Secondly, I see that you're still (remarkably) missing the salient point: this entire episode started when you made a personal attack on me. HuskyHuskie (talk) 15:52, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Adding the speedy deletion tag under the vandalism criterion was incorrect on my part, but it wasn't a personal attack. You calling me lazy and an ass, however, is. But since I'm an adult, it doesn't bother me. This is my last comment in this discussion. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 16:07, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

IMG Academy

Hello. I need to remove blatantly wrong content from the IMG Academy page, which is misleading readers. None of the academies listed exist anymore. Please advise how you would like me to proceed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kbizzle8 (talkcontribs) 17:54, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Every single statement in a Wikipedia article must come from a reliable secondary source. There can be no original content that has no citations. There can be no promotional material. There can be no removal of cited material unless it violates an individual's privacy. I would strongly urge you to read Wikipedia:Five pillars as a starting point. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 17:58, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. There are items in the original entry that are uncited, however. Why are those allowed to stay? Hopefully, the new entry, albeit shabby, is ok. I am just trying to clarify for readers that the structure and program offerings of IMG Academy have changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kbizzle8 (talkcontribs) 18:20, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
Any uncited items in the original article can be removed. But do not delete cited material ever, which you just did again. I'd suggest modifying this article with a scalpel, not a knife, especially since you are new. You may be blocked from editing if you continue to remove cited content/add promotional material/add uncited content. Read Wikipedia:Verifiability for a starting point on what kinds of citations are required. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 18:32, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

I'm aware of multiple media outlets referring to "sources", but NO official announcement. Till it's official I'll keep reverting. --RBBrittain (talk) 20:33, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

It's on ESPN right now man. It doesn't have to be an official announcement from the school for it to be reliable. ESPN is a reliable source. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 20:36, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Even ESPN is still quoting "sources". It's NOT official even from ESPN. --RBBrittain (talk) 20:37, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Doesn't matter. As a Wikipedia editor you should be well aware that it doesn't matter whether it's true. It matters whether it's verifiable in published sources. This is one of the five pillars. There's nothing wrong with saying "On December 4, 2012 multiple sources reported..." and then citing those sources. Please let this material through. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 20:42, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
IIRC only one of the reports I reverted had any references; it claimed he had moved but cited ESPN's "sources" report. Nonetheless, I now have a report which claims confirmation from the U of A[11], so I'll let them thru. --RBBrittain (talk) 20:47, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Caribbean Medical University Misinformation.

Hello SGMD1. I appreciate you being careful as to what is posted on WIKI. However what I posted was the updates as to what was the truth. This page has a lot of outdated information on it. I was trying to fix these problems. If you would be so kind as to re-post the information that I updated it would be nice. I am not a fan of misinformation. Also the person that you have listed as dean is no longer at the school, employed or has anything to do with the school. Please re-correct this as to whom I had listed. I have no conflicting interest in this, I am just a med student in the USA that was looking into the school as a backup plan if I were not accepted in the USA. I researched the misinformation on this page and was trying to fix it. I wish all of the Caribbean students the best of luck.

Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.88.34.85 (talk) 23:05, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Please take a look at WP:VERIFY. Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it, and there can be no original research. As long as there are reliable sources that state CMU graduates are ineligible for licensure in certain states, that material cannot be removed from the article. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 23:39, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
I posted links for the way I showed that they were approved in said states. In addition to, the site that is posted for Oregon is from a financial aid site not a medical license board huge difference. That information is way wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Docforyourhealth (talkcontribs) 23:58, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
An IMED listing does not indicate individual state accreditation. It only indicates that a school is recognized by its local government. In addition, the Oregon reference explicitly says "Degrees from these colleges are not valid in Oregon, and may not be used for academic or employment purposes." The material is cited appropriately and unless you have a reference explicitly stating otherwise, it must not be removed from the article. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 00:06, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

Both sites have not been updated in a while, thus the problem. It is frustrating to me to see a school have outdated information that is not in their control. Thank you for your incite. Have a great day.

Edit on St. Matthew's University

Aqwfyj:

I am a current student and student ambassador representing St. Matthew's University School of Veterinary Medicine. May I ask why you deleted my contribution to the aforementioned wikipedia page?

Thank you,

Nanderson18 (talk) 04:17, 22 July 2013 (UTC)Nick Anderson

Your edit had a number of issues. First, the "established in 2005" statement was a duplicate of information already on the page. Secondly, "has produced many high quality" and "the focus...is outstanding" are both unsourced and not WP:NPOV. Thirdly, unless it's being cited as a reference, external links are not allowed in the body of an article. The only statement that is acceptable in your edit is "There are currently 15 full time faculty members" but it still needs a reliable, non-self-published reference. aqwfyj Talk/Contribs 11:23, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Greetings!

Not sure why you reverted the accurate changes I made. As of September 3, 2013, the school is operating in Cole Bay. All you have to do is go to the school's website (http://www.eustatiusmed.edu). I was a part of the last batch of students that finished basic sciences on Statia. Trust me, it's not there anymore. The Daily Herald, which is a Dutch islands newspaper even had articles on that (http://www.thedailyherald.com/index.php/islands/1-islands-news/41815-govt-not-to-be-blamed-for-closing-of-medical-school.html). NVAO didn't want to renew accreditation for the school and so it moved to St. Maarten, which has more control over its domestic affairs compared to Statia. SXM was more than happy to have another med school on their much larger island (compared to Statia and Saba anyway). — Preceding unsigned comment added by DJagadev (talkcontribs) 05:58, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Why are you changing my edits on avalon university school of medicine page. I gave a reference for my statement about ecfmg accreditation and I made a brief mention referring to the indian licensure issue not effecting u.s. licensure. These are true statement with no bias. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Medchat12 (talkcontribs) 19:31, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

The ECFMG does not accredit schools. Accreditation is done by local governing bodies. You also cited an internal Wikipedia page, instead of an external reference. Also, your second statement about U.S. licensure does not have a reference. aqwfyj Talk/Contribs 20:19, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

A beer for your tireless efforts on Russell Wilson

The article VIZIO Top Value Performer Award has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable award that fails WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Pro Football Writers Association, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tony Gonzalez (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
