Notability of Sim2travel
[edit]A tag has been placed on Sim2travel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- Shadowlynk (Talk) 05:40, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Sim2travel
[edit]Hi Aquilas. I'm afraid I won't be undeleting the article. My main concern, notability, is still an issue. The fact that it gets only 73 hits on Google suggests that it is not well known. The article was also on the verge of being an advertisement, which is another potential reason for deletion. I hope you are not discouraged by this, and I hope you can expand your contributions to Wikipedia to more article-worthy things. Regards, пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:11, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortuntely, both links you have provided are effectively the same press release, which is also a form of advertising. Plus Sim2travel still only receives 2 sentences of coverage in one of these.
- Your comparison with the Territorial Assembly of Wallis & Futuna is very weak. Not only was the article not created by myself, it actually recieves 22,000 hits if you search for it in French, the language in that territory. пﮟოьεԻ 57 06:15, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, if you actually go to the end of that search, you only get 78 hits, just five better than before. The advertising issue is not up for debate; it is banned full stop on this project. пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:56, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you meant by me having "acquiesced on the advertising point". You are the one who seems to think advertising is "not inherently bad". You also seem to have lost your sense of perspective if you think a telecoms company is equally encyclopedia-worthy to that of a national assembly of a semi-independent nation.
- Anyway, although there are 20 or so more senior moderators (WP:BUREAUCRAT), they do not deal with this kind of thing. If you want to pursue the issue, take it to WP:DRV. пﮟოьεԻ 57 09:15, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- You had better take it to WP:DRV and let other editors decide. I also see that you changed British English to American English on Mobile virtual network operator. Please do not do this. пﮟოьεԻ 57 00:22, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
