Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! --omtay38 18:03, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Confederate biographies
[edit]Thank you for your recent contributions for R. Lindsay Walker, Abner Perrin, and Willie Pegram! I added references and categories, and slightly restyled the articles per the wiki biography format. There is a style guide for Civil War biographies that I have adopted and copied (see User:Hlj/CWediting). Keep the articles coming! Scott Mingus 19:41, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
John Rogers Cooke
[edit]Your recent contribution(s) to the Wikipedia article John Rogers Cooke are very much appreciated. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at How to cite sources. Thanks! DancingMan 23:56, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
124th NYSV Regiment Ellis statue memorial photo
[edit]Hello -
If you are Jennifer, I would like permission to use your lovely photograph of the Ellis statue in a memorial page I'm working on for the Find A Grave website (and do you happen to have a close-up of the plaque?): http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSmcid=46998289&GRid=55879417&
If you aren't Jennifer, how would I contact her?
Thank you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ellisstaute.jpg

- I signed in to donate some photos I had taken from historical sites to the Wikipedia tonight and yup, you're right, this was definitely disappointing to see at the top of my page. I'll be sticking to working on just my own sites from now on - I thought my article was pretty darn neutral, so clearly, I don't "get" the rules. Aphillcsa (talk) 23:31, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
