Request reason:

I have stepped back from the whole Wikipedia situation. I acknowledge that I acted poorly, and I apologize to everyone involved. I will be better at taking criticism as I should appreciate whenever anyone takes time out of their day to provide a comment. I know that I had that issue in the past, and the only thing that I can do is grow from it. I would like to be un-blocked. I apologize for the short turn-around period. It was just something that I need for myself as weird as that may sound. I will do better in the future. Aoba47 (talk) 04:20, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Procedural accept; the unblock request has already been processed. Yamla (talk) 11:36, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aoba, Rick hasn't been around for a few hours and may not be back until morning. I can unblock you if you like, although if you prefer to wait for Rick, that's fine too. Give me a shout if you'd like me to do it. I'll be around for a short while. SarahSV (talk) 06:16, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @SlimVirgin: Thank you for the message. I would greatly appreciate it if possible. Hopefully, we can work together more in the future as I do think you are a great editor and work on very interesting subject matters. In the future, I would appreciate your feedback and suggestions as I do want to improve as an editor, writer, and researcher. I hope that you have a wonderful weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 06:31, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, that's done. I wish you a good weekend too. SarahSV (talk) 06:36, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is there anything I can do?

[edit]

You're a brilliant editor and I'd hate to see one bad FAC experience force you into retirement. Please contact me if there's anything I can do to help you out. I hope this is just a temporary break for you; the encyclopedia is a better place with your skills and expertise! --Bcschneider53 (talk) 19:18, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

And I'll add, should you wish to come back just file a request to be unblocked. RickinBaltimore (talk) 19:22, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for your message. I will definitely take a look through your proposal. It is good to see someone propose a different approach to the peer review/FAC processes. Hope you have a great weekend. Aoba47 (talk) 07:54, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just saw you (briefly) declared retirement and must say I'm glad it's not permanent! You would be missed if you ever leave for good. Snuggums (talk / edits) 21:45, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sad, very sad

[edit]

It is quite unfortunate to see you retire from this place. You were an excellent editor and I wish you did not withdraw your ready-to-be-promoted FAC. I hope you decide to come back after taking a few months of break. You'll be very much missed. FrB.TG (talk) 17:35, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This sucks, especially seeing as you just gave immense help to an FAC just yesterday. You were the first person to ever pass one of my GANs - in fact, I think you've done more than one of mine. I'll remember you for all the help you gave to the music projects at Wikipedia. Spreading love your way, let me know if you change your mind and return. dannymusiceditor oops 00:40, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I don't know what prompted your retirement, but I appreciated your efforts in the music related subject areas too, and hope that you'll comeback sometime. Let me know if there's anything I can help with if you do. Sergecross73 msg me 02:21, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I also hope you'll return after a break, Aoba. SarahSV (talk) 02:26, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yess, be back soon!! You'll be missed dearly. VedantTalk 05:19, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sad to see you go, Aoba. I hope we get the opportunity to be graced with your contributions again when you're ready. Best wishes. ceranthor 15:03, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My heart is broken. Out of all the editors on Wikipedia, I am most indebted to Aoba, and not just because he's (fairly and justly) promoted at least half of my Good Articles by now, but because he's generally passionate about improving articles on Wikipedia across the board. I'm not entirely sure what caused him to retire (but given my less-than-successful history with FA nominations, I would completely understand), but I hope the Wikiverse is ready to accept the fact that they've just lost a realllly good one (even temporarily).--Changedforbetter (talk) 20:15, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
