User talk:Anziom
Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article FurniFind.com may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers, and encourages them to become Wikipedians. On Wikipedia, all users are entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. ~ Flameviper 17:12, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

RESPONSE TO FLAMEVIPER
[edit]My intention is not to blatantly adverise. FurniFind.com is a free resource for shoppers and genereates no revenue whatsoever from consumer traffic. It has received significant press coverage in the NYC area and is well-known to many NYers as a helpful site for planning furniture purchases. What are your suggestions for contributing this entry to Wikipedia without it being considered spam? .
- Wikipedia should not be considered a resource for shoppers, no matter what the topic. Instead, it is an encyclopedia of knowledge about subjects, not a guide on where to shop for them or where to buy them. Commercial spammers are fond of parasitically linking to Wikipedia entries to further commercial gain. Others may feel that their commercial links are doing readers a favor, and in some cases that might be true. But a shoppers' guide for furniture appears to be only business-oriented marketing material and cannot in any way be considered encyclopedic knowledge. Please stop inserting such commercially oriented links in Wikipedia. Jack Bethune 17:46, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- My words exactly. I'm glad that you are being civil and professional about the matter, but even though your intentions were not to advertise, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information or a shopping guide. If you would like to contribute to Wikipedia in another way, I would be glad to help. Thanks. ~ Flameviper 16:27, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
