Hi Anurag Anthwal Yes i added the other name of harela festival.

Hey, Hi..!! I am not sure if this is how I am suppose to reply here. I generally just contribute to pages, and don't know much about discussing on Wikipedia itself. :)

I am also new to Wiki, i am still learning :)

Well my Id is new, though I have been contributing since my College/School-Days. :)

I wanted to discuss about Mol-Sankranti, and may be other celebrations/Festivals as well.

Oh but i am new to this , i started editing from this july month

I don't know anything about mol sankranti but we celebrate it as rai sagraan in chamoli district

Where exactly in Chamoli..?? Could you specify the town/village..?? That would help me understand it better. Also, is it celebrated by everyone, or just one/some specific community?

It is celebrated by all people like in Tharali , deval , karanpryag, jilasu block of chamoli district people as rai sagraan ( may be other part of chamoli it is celebrated with other name like in gairsain it is celebrated but i don't know how they celebrate or what is the exact name they use for this festival)

Okay, so it is a big area that you described, and it is quite close to Rudraprayag, and borders Pauri as well. Could you briefly tell me, how do you celebrate this festival?

Yes chamoli share borders with rudraprayag and paudi also but with paudi , we celebrate this festival as same like other festival we take bath early morning , make puri pakodi and other dishes. Then we cut a stem of a tree named myelu( i don't know what is other word in different district , it has a round fruit , when it get ripe then it turn into blak colour and taste like chawanpras) And we also cut a herb named kudjj(कूंणज),then we go to our fields and plug this in center of the field. Previously people do this process in all the fields but nowadays they do this in single one.

Thank-You so much..!! So it turns out that the celebration is quite similar, or exactly similar rather, to other parts of Garhwal, though I am not sure if a specific sapling needs to be planted everywhere as you mentioned. But as we see, certain trees are given much more importance, and are also considered auspicious, for example, Paiyya, which have specific songs dedicated to it. The variety of the plant/tree might change with region, depending on the climatic conditions, but the celebration seems to be similar. I now just need to find out the specific dish associated with this Sankraant, as we have for almost all the other Sankraants in Garhwal. :)

Yes kule, payyan are the tree of god used in every occasion, in this sangraan we usually made puri ,pakodi ,kheer, puwa , रौट etc
