The Vlachs are romanized by the Roman Empire, 27 BC - 1453 AD. Thracians, the so-called Rudari, are named because of the work they were engaged in, the Kopanari, the so-called in Bulgaria are named because of the wooden spoons and utensils in general, same thing with the Kalaydjii, Mechkadari, they are part of the Romani people, but they are also considered part of the Vlach ethnicity, it is said theory that during the severe death of the plague 1347, and 1894 CE. many people died and in order to preserve their Vlach ethnicity they mixed with the Roma and assimilated, The Karakachans who speak Greek are Vlachs who were assimilated by the Greeks, during the Byzantine Empire.

In Lithuanian language Trakai...means GLADE,ie open space in between wood.

From ancient sources, we know the thracians had their own language before becoming roman and greek speakers. A person investigating the thracian language before the takeover by Phillip of Macedon and the romans of later day has a number of words from burial chambers of that era.

So, linguists working on that questions have uncovered words from the ancient thracian dictionary that most closely correspond only to 2 languages of european nations today - Lithuania and Latvia.

As a matter of fact those thracian words from rings of noble members of their royal clans, inscriptions on stones, etc directly translate to archaic lithuanian words...verbatim...toponyms and ethnonyms.

Hence, the believe, although not yet confirmed worldwide, that the thracians were ethnic lithuanians and latvians, that came to a warmer climate on the Balkans about 3000 years ago.

The Thracians preserved their language until the last 6th century, When the Slavs immigrated to the Balkans are came across Romance-speaking people, they also borrowed words from the Thracian language, until the invasion of the Turkic nomadic Bulgarians, who were pushed out by the Russians, who came to Thracian land.
