Reply on how to set up the Time Zone
Okay. How do you do it then?
I Agree with Nishkid64
You have made more edits in one month than I have made in 6 !!!! Now for the substance of this message, you have enough edits in the Wikipedia namespace that you should be familiar with the policies of this wiki. What I am getting at is do you want me to nominate you for adminship in about 1 month. Please tell me how you feel about this on my talk page, it's the "trip" part of my signature :D ~Steptrip 14:19, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Very flattering. Your question strikes me as a bit odd, though (or does this sort of thing happen often?) While I may feel differently a month from now, that's a month away, and I have no idea whether I'll feel differently then or even still be contributing. I don't particularly want to be an administrator at the moment; also, I think there is more to being an administrator than just making edits in the Wikipedia namespace – don't rely on statistics to judge someone! (See also my comments on User talk:Chrislk02). You're welcome to ask again a month from now, but I think you're likely to get the same answer. Thanks anyway – Qxz 14:27, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- What I meant by the # of Edits in the wikipedia namespace is that it will show people who think that you have not been here long enough that you are more familiar with policy than they are. As for the oddness of my question, I don't understand why you think my nomination is odd when other people are trying to nominate you for RfA. (I'm not fully awake yet, don't take this as sarcasm.) ~Steptrip 14:36, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- I understand that. However, the vast majority of my edits to the Wikipedia namespace have been to WP:AIV or one of the many requested-article pages. Little knowledge of policy is required to remove blue links from a page, and not much more is needed to add a vandal's name with a template. It would be different if I had made the same number of edits but to policy page – this is why statistics are misleading. I think the other suggestions of nominations I've been getting are equally odd, especially since a cursory glance at Requests for Adminship tells me that many people will oppose anyone with less than 6 months' experience, regardless of their knowledge of policy or activity in that time – Qxz 14:41, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think Qxz is wise in pointing out that #ofedits is not the end all and be all. Too many Wikipedians judge others by their number count which is absolutely silly. Certainly after 1,000 edits any user is usually reliable, productive, and wise to the ways of Wikipedia. Keep in mind though, that one edit creating an excellent article for the first time is worth over 500 minor edits. And I've seen many Wikipedians vainly blow up their edit count by purposely making countless minor edits when one Save page would do the job, or focus more on their user page than on Wikipedia itself. It's pretty sad when that happens. With that being said, Qxz is performing an excellent service for Wikipedia. ~ Rollo44 06:32, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Vandalism reports
Thanks for watching out for vandals, please try to give people at least the three standard warnings before reporting them on the Admin intervention page. If they haven't vandalised past a final warning, we can't block them! TimVickers 22:58, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- It's not a hard-and-fast rule, if they are particularly obscene and disruptive then use the "Only warning you will receive" template and they will be blocked after that. TimVickers 01:12, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Script linking to User:Interiot/Tool2/code.js
I've fixed the script; there was a typo that had got in somehow (and the link target was wrong, I think). You might want to try copying the code from this revision of my JS sandbox, which should be a corrected version. Hope that helps! --ais523 09:22, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Misstep :-)
Hello Steptrip and thank you for your vandalfight. I think that you should see this. This user got warned three times for a single vandalism edit. I believe that this happened because the 3 RC patrollers involved sent automatic warnings as they tried to revert the edit at the same time. But your test4 warning seems rather abrupt anyway... RE: User logo
Do you mean the one I use in my menu bar? I did that myself in Photoshop :)...or do you mean something else?¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 18:02, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
It wasn't much. I just opened up Photoshop, chose a font I liked, added a beveled and drop shadow effect from the text effects options, and uploaded it :P. Nothing really fancy. Try googling around for some Photoshop tutorials and see what you find.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 20:51, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
I have the Creative Suite edition which comes with way more refinements with what you can do with text. However, Elements or the Startup edition does have some options to work around with text (I've forgotten most of them however because I haven't used the basic editions in a long time). You can always turn the text into a picture and play around with it that way. Here are some tutorials I found on ask.com which might help if you want to do it that way: http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshoptutorialstextfx/Creating_Text_Effects_with_Photoshop.htm ¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 17:46, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Argument
Aye. That argument is not worth fighting over anymore. I've already dragged more people than neccessary (including my teacher, Xiner) into this ordeal. Thanks for you input!
One time, I corrected one of those "his/her" things without any problems. Just to let you know... --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:19, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- On the userbox thing, I meant both his and her. I see what you mean with that rhythm thing. Kinda silly in my opinion...
- On the argument thing, I (when I say "I," I refer to XIner) think it is under control. You may want to check out what is hapenning. It has become increaingly intense (and pointless...). --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:29, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Hooray for grammar. The argument is done. PHEW! --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:44, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I've already pointed out that the argument was already pointless when you started it. I don't appreciate you messaging everyone considering it's resolved & that I wasn't the one doing the name calling.... Spawn Man 02:47, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- And I was NEVER sexist nor did I make sexual inuendo's!!!!!!!!!! I rue the fact you suggest so. I didn't know Cremepuff was a boy alright, so by me calling him a her was a complete mistake. Sorry if I don't think that Cremepuff is a masculine word! Yes, I immediately think buldging muscles & facial hair when the name Tinkerbell comes up, because Tinkerbell is indeed a feminine name. However, on the odd occasion, Tinkerbell can be used by a boy, as was the odd case for Cremepuff in this case. As I said to Xiner, Cremepuff called me a pervert, smelly, insignificant & many things else, while I only suggested his feelings were easily hurt. So don't you go around giving advice on how to convict me of sexual harrassment when I did not. I never will either. Spawn Man 02:54, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- The argument was resolved as a matter of fact... Spawn Man 02:54, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello Steptrip! I just notice that you created the page AJMS to redirect to Andrew Jackson Middle School. I'm not so sure if this is the greatest idea, since the acronym AJMS also stands for many other things. For instance, there are other middle schools which also share the acronym AJMS. Additionally, scholarly journals such as the American Journal of Medical Sciences, the Australian Journal of Medical Sciences and the African Journal of Marine Sciences. Although none of these have articles yet, if you do a simple Google Search for this acronym, Andrew Jackson Middle School doesn't appear until the seventh result. Perhaps it would do more benefit if you made AJMS into a disambiguation page. Or perhaps you could add a template such as this one:
{{for|other topics with this name|AJMS (disambiguation)}}

Article Size
Xiner told me how to find a page's size. Just copy the coding from the page and paste it into a text file (such as Microsoft Word, or Notepad). The, one can just look at the properties of the word document, and find its size. Pretty nifty, in my opinion. -Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 23:00, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey
do you have any tips on user pages and signatures and things for starters on Wikipedia? I want my home page to look a little like yours, if you don't mind. I don't know how to do any of that! You can visit my page and see the lameness of it. ♥Smartie960♥(Chatter Box) 21:31, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

1. Yes, I have added the new coding, and 2. I created that RfA on the second day that I was on Wikipedia. I didn't realize the gravity of an RfA, so I guess that I will have to suffer in future attempts. Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 01:28, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry that I'm responding so late! I've been torn with schoolwork at the moment and its going to be quite a busy week for me. Monobook Issues
Hello! I recently tried adding something to my monobook, but the signature one freaked out, and now it's all weird. Do you think you could look at it? I removed the one that I was trying to add, so it's only the signature one. Thanks! Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 01:02, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Awesome adds, I'm glad that someone who is not a participant in WP:WPUS is that gifted in computer coding, especially in Cascading Style Sheets (I have seen a total of 2 Wikipedians who appear gifted in .css and are not participants in the aforementioned project). ~Steptrip 23:10, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm not that good with CSS, and I know pretty much nothing about JavaScript, which is what the WPUS people tend to me most skilled with. I imagine the people who created and maintain MediaWiki:Common.css and MediaWiki:Monobook.css know a thing or two – Qxz 10:54, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Editor review
Hi Steptrip. I didn't want you to think I've forgotten about you, so I'm dropping by before I retire to bed. Quick comments: your user and talk pages don't look very good in Firefox 2 at 800x600. I understand it's not a common configuration, but it'd be nice if the great graphics are laid out well on the screen. Your signature is a bit too long for my taste. Sorry they're criticisms. I'll have nicer ones tomorrow, hopefully. Xiner (talk, email) 03:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- The trouble with signature scripts is that for most people, who don't have them, your signature takes up seven full lines in the edit box. Xiner (talk, email) 13:16, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
{{for|other topics with this name|AJMS (disambiguation)}}

Pattern of reverting?
Greetings can you kindly explain why you've just reverted my edit to Submission (film)? I am seeing that you are doing a series of reversions and if they are of the same type as mine you will likely be prevented from further editing. (→Netscott) 22:24, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not so sure about having to be blocked and Steptrip's past contributions don't really form a pattern, but I also think that Netscott's edit was fine. Some people may not now what assassinated means, so I think that a wikilink is a good idea. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:30, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Please could you unrevert my edit to the article on Lobelia erinus. The conventional capitalisation is as in the article title. Thanks SP-KP 17:37, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
No, please leave it as is. It's a scientific name, as opposed to an English one, and botanical convention (and MoS) for these is that the genus (first word) is initial-capitalised and the specific epithet (second word) plus any subsequent words indicating subspecies/forms etc are all lower-case. Don't ask me why, but that's just the way it is! SP-KP 17:45, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, very much!
Thanks for the award, Steptrip! It makes me feel a lot better after running three miles (that's for sure! :) ). Have I seriously made more edits than you? I have about 1500 talk page edits (more than half my total...). --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 01:26, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Also, my user page edits only account for about 10% of my overall edits, just to point it out. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 01:35, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I suppose you're right. Yes, I did get my userpage (and several subpages) deleted. You may want to consider doing this on some of your higher-edit pages. Thanks again for the award! I have quite a collection now adays. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 01:57, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Templates
Sorry I took so long to reply, I was running. (comma splice!!!). I was told before that the templates don't have to be used in order, and I also believe that I've read it somewhere. I guess that what everyone else is doing (especially sysops) is the correct way to do things.
I saw your comment on my editcountitis motto, any suggestions for improvement? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 00:23, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

I disagree with the chages you have made here. I have reverted them, and am using this note to let you know that I have done so, so that we can discuss the best way to handle the situation. (note: this comment was previously posted in a different form) Jouster (whisper) 01:44, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- (1)The way I edited the template was in a manner that was still grammatically correct (2) I see no citations posted by other users who have edited the same template (3) How is my edit considered vandalism and (4) Could you please restore my edit. ~Steptrip 01:59, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- In point of fact, your edit was specifically not grammatically-correct. You violated the words of the userbox in question—you ended a sentence in a preposition! While the resulting sentence structure is indeed archaic and alarming, the irony thereof is a big portion of the appeal of that userbox. If you would like a version of the userbox ironic in that it supports ending a sentence with a preposition by using a sentence ending in a preposition, feel free to fork the box into your own userspace and include a link to it in the <noinclude> section.
- I specifically did not consider your edits to be vandalism, but based on your edit summary, "reworded statement, yet still abiding by the userbox," your statement was factually incorrect. I used the best template I could find—not a vandalism template!—to express this concern. Having read through some of your contributions more closely, it would appear the mistake was unintentional, so please don't feel slighted by the appearance of a UW template on your Talk page. It was merely the fastest device with which to record both my reversion and my dissatisfaction with your edit summary's characterization of your changes.
- If I am wrong in all of this, and due to some particularly-obscure rule of grammar, "up" in the sentence in question does not constitute a preposition, please enlighten me. Barring that, I do not feel that it would be appropriate to revert back to your version at this time. Furthermore, I appreciate you not engaging in a revert war, but taking this to Talk pages, instead. I have your Talk page on my watchlist now, so feel free to respond here so I can keep the conversation in context.
- If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them. I hope what I've said makes sense! It would seem that you are the more-senior editor here, so let me know if I've handled this incorrectly.
- Jouster (whisper) 08:02, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
unconstructive edit?
"However, unconstructive edits, such as those you made to Ian MacKaye, are considered vandalism and immediately reverted."
i removed the words, "In an ironic twist of fate, MacKaye died of a heroin overdose in his Washington, D.C. home on March 21, 2007.", which are factually incorrect. who are you, and how is this an "unconstructive" edit, and why have you changed it back to the factually incorrect version?

- Looks like a misclick; he's fixed it. I'd encourage you to create an account, so that if, in the future, someone from your IP address does commit vandalism and forces a softblock, you can still edit the Project. See Why create an account?. Jouster (whisper) 07:09, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Your question
It would be an adverb since it tells where the user "will put." I have no problem with it, as I'm educated enough to know that "up" in this case wold be an adverb, but it would also be a good idea for the up not be included, so that the users who don't know that up can be an adverd will still understand the box. I think that the vandalism warning was highly unnecessary, and Jouster should probably get rid of it and replace it with a less intense message. Best of luck! --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 20:56, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Re: Question on MOTD
- I have a question as well, can I make a decision on whether or not a motto is approved, and if I can, how do I reopen it (I know how to list it on the approved list), and how do I decide a scheduled date if it is approved and if I can even approve/disapprove mottos. ~Steptrip 00:09, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Of course you can! This is a wiki, and anyone can close a nomination. If you'd like to help close some, follow the closing procedure on the nominations page. I've left a summary of how to close a nomination, as well as how to decide the outcome of a nomination here.
- To schedule a motto, again, carefully read the procedure on either the schedule or the approved page. But, since you asked specifically, here's a summary of how to schedule a motto:
- Select the first of the approved mottos.
- Cut it from the approved list, and paste it into one of the daily subpages (e.g. Wikipedia:Motto of the day/January 1, 2000)
- Use the syntax:
<tt>[[PAGENAME|MONTH-DAY]]</tt> {{PAGENAME}}<br />
to display the new subpage (and motto) on the schedule page.
- Try to follow the example of what mottos are already there, and if you have any other questions, just contact me on my talk page. --Tewy 00:45, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

- To reopen a nomination, do you just cut the motto and post it at the top of the "in review" section? ~Steptrip 00:48, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, exactly, but make sure to mark it as reopened. --Tewy 00:51, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- To reopen a nomination, do you just cut the motto and post it at the top of the "in review" section? ~Steptrip 00:48, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- How many votes does a nomination need to be approved? ~Steptrip 00:52, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- There's not really a set number, as was mentioned here, because it's really a case-by-case basis. If a nomination has just a few votes, but they're all support, the motto could probably be approved (assuming the votes are valid, hopefully with good reasons). But if they're weak support, or maybe an oppose is thrown in, then it's not obvious that the motto should be approved, and you might want to gather some more opinions. The ones you approve should be the clear winners. Ask yourself, does the community want this as their motto of the day? Or is there some doubt? Are there those who give reasons why they don't think it should be the motto of the day? If so, you may want to reopen the discussion for a while, to get some more opinions, and to see if the consensus can start leaning in one direction. Being approved is a priveledge, I suppose, not the default. --Tewy 01:31, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- How many votes does a nomination need to be approved? ~Steptrip 00:52, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Be sure that when you reopen a nomination, you include the entire discussion, not just the motto itself. --Tewy 02:56, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Would it be time to decide on mottos (the ones posted before 03/15)? ~Steptrip 00:59, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- You can decide on any mottos older than 14 days at any time. In fact, that's a good thing, because it spreads the workload out over several days. --Tewy 01:50, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Would it be time to decide on mottos (the ones posted before 03/15)? ~Steptrip 00:59, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I've revised the procedures on the nominations page, to address some of the "FAQs" on my talk page, but you can revise them further if there's a part that might confuse someone. --Tewy 04:41, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

- Oh no! It didn't work! Perhaps if I tell you what I want the box to do, you will be able to help me better. The first parameter specifies the color, for example, if the user want ed the userbox to be green, the box would be {{User:Cremepuff222/User Friend|Green}}. The if statement would determine the color of each color of the box (border, id box, text color). Then, the second parameter specifies the user, which works like a charm. Here's what the box currently looks like:
{{Userbox |border-c=#00FF00 |border-s=1 |id-c=#ADFF2F|id-s=12 |id-fc=#32CD32 |info-c=#32CD32 |info-s=9 |info-fc=#ADFF2F |id=Friend |info=This user knows {{{2}}}.}}

Your work on MOTD has been quite good too, I thought you made a blunder relisting "If this is your limit, you can't exceed it; If you exceed it, it's not your limit" which had three supports but I see that the limit hasn't been quite decided yet...what limit did you have in mind?

Adoption
Forgive me in advance if this is not the correct method to address you. I was happy to receive your offer of adoption but in the time it took me to respond you have apparently rescinded my "obligation" to be adopted. Does this mean that you no longer wish to adopt me or that I committed some infraction in the adoption process that I am unawares of. Thanks. EuroTrash 15:08, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks very much for accepting to adopt me. I guess my first question is about how to include sources that are not online such as a book, page number etc.
I had made an addition to the page on Sea Shepherd Society with some quotes from a book written by Paul Watson. I included the quotes, the book and page number but they were removed for not being inputted properly.
I've been having trouble figuring out how I erred.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi. Thanks for complimenting me on the editor review. I use edit summaries a lot because I enabled "prompt me when leaving a blank edit summary", but for some reason, it prompts me when I undo vandalism, but not when I use popups. Anyway, I usually just create articles, revert vandalism, and add info to mainspace. I am on almost every day, but there's rarely a lot to do in mainspace. To be perfectly honest I'm not entirely sure. I've had a look through his contribs and those he interacted with about 10:30 yesterday morning. I have a few ideas but not enough to want to write them down, as that would unfair and speculation can be often more damaging than the truth. I've kept an eye on his comments as he's deleted posts to his talk page, and can only hope he cools down, as no matter what he thinks he was handy to have around on the templates, and certainly some of us thought his and Aza's ad banners were something fresh round here. Cremepuff told me in person about how the monobook affects a user's editing ability, that certain codes allow for certain actions, such as a spell check. How does that work? Chiefsfan364 (talk) 01:07, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Signature
I don't mind either when it comes to coding size, but the second looks better. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:23, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Spoiler tags
On the Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? page, you asked in an edit summary why the statistics section needed spoiler tags. I live on the west coast, and on March 22, 2007, I looked up it's Wikipedia article. The Statistics section included information as to how far the contestant had progressed in the show, presumably from someone who lives on the east coast who watched the show three hours earlier. This is why I added a Spoiler tag to the section. -- RoninBK T C 00:25, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- (In response to comment left on my Talk,) My personal opinion is that I don't like these sections in general, especially for television shows in their first season. I think it tends to lead to WP:CRUFT, and includes information that may not be considered interesting ten years from now. However I'm not pushing for that at this point. I do think that SOME reference should be made though, perhaps somethign like {{In-progress tvshow}} or something.
help!
I am in my sandbox, working on a new signature. I am trying to clean it up, but its frustrating work! Do you think you could help me? Chiefsfan364 (talk) 01:08, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Hello?
Are you still there? There was an edit conflict, and I'm not sure if you saw my message, due to the fact it is above the other one. This is what I have so far- User:Chiefsfan364/SandboxChiefsfan364 (talk) 01:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Page Protection
Sorry for the vandalism. I've reprotected your userpage for 3 fortnights, hopefully that will be long enough to be rid of them! Thanks, — xaosflux Talk 01:15, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
He didn't
Adams didn't do that. He just was logged on when I, Mr. Fan, wrote that message. I tried to come up with some sort of sig, but that didn't work. sorry! --Mr. Fan —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Adams921 (talk • contribs) 01:55, 30 March 2007 (UTC).
No, Adams has not been adopted. He is not very smart, putting his last name, and my last name also. I AM NOT ADAMS921! --Mr. Fan
Adoption
Adams921- You can adopt me. Chiefsfan- I really wish I was logged on right now... :) Adams921 01:58, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Confused in Confusionland
Am I the only one that's confused by the precious two comments? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:11, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Your userpage
No problem Step. It looks better that way. ;-) Anyways, I copied it from two other people, so it's not really "my" page after all. Also, I notice you say "Do not edit this page" and "Do not vandalize", but that complex, incomprehensible coding is where vandals do their worst... Put your main page coding in a subpage, then add it to your main page as if it were a template (with double brackets around the page name); that makes your page come up, but "Vandalproof"! :-) Good luck! · AO Talk 08:31, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Did you get that idea of hidden text at the top of your talk page from my userpage? ~Steptrip 02:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
