Mahabubur Rahaman Arman
[edit]Thanks for your messages. First, it's not clear to me why an article entitle Draft:Angela Matthews appears to be about someone called Mahabubur Rahaman instead.
If you have a conflict of interest, you must declare it. Also don't write about yourself. If you work directly or indirectly for him or his organisation, or otherwise are acting on his behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by him or his organisation, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Angela Matthews. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Angela Matthews|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message.
Also read the following regarding writing an article
- you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, LinkedIn, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls. All your references were interviews with him, blogs and the like. We don't want to know what he says about himself, that's why we need independent sources as I've described here
- you must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. You said your article wasn't promotional but the first para gives unsourced opinions like He is known for his tremendous contribution... donated for flood and burnt victims... he was a successful Cyber activist since 2015.
- there shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
- you must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
You said "We have the right to write", which is true, but what you write won't be kept if it doesn't conform with our rules. Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also reply to the COI request above Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:40, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- First of all, I would like to tell you that I am not paid, but I worked closely with him. This was my first post. I am too new. I was thinking and learning about Wikipedia. I don't know what to write. I just kept another Bangladeshi public figure profile open in a tab and created this one. As I know him personally so thought lets make him a topic. Actually I was interested to write about 'Mahabubur Rahaman' but was not finding a place where to write so I thought may be this is the place.
- About the contribution part you mentioned, I do have some links which I thought to add slowly as I am doing it manually. I did not added any link in the post except reference section. Soon after this he told me to give him back the article and he just posted on behalf of him by his own. Now help us to make it look more professional. User:Angela Matthews (talk) 17:47, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for the above. If you have a close connection, even if you are not paid, you shouldn't be writing about him, and he definitely shouldn't be writing about himself. See the guidance above Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:31, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- Than what is the solution? User:Angela Matthews (talk) 08:06, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- Just on a technical note, a talk page is for discussion about an article, so I've moved your draft to your sandbox, where you can work on an article without so much scrutiny, and then put it through the Wikipedia:Drafts system once you're ready. But right now I can tell you it would be rejected, because it does nothing to establish WP:NOTABILITY. Notability is key to the whole way that Wikipedia works, and is quite stringent. It's not enough to be quoted in passing by some article, you want articles about the person in reputable, independent publications (so a friend's blog wouldn't count). Have a good read of WP:NOTABILITY
More generally, articles about living people are some of the hardest to write, just because the rules are so much tighter because of the risk of libel. When you're new to Wikipedia it's a good idea to start editing an existing article rather than starting a new one, such as the article about your home town or places nearby. Those kinds of articles often need quite a lot of work - just restructuring to something like these guidelines is a start. That way you get to learn how Wikipedia works whilst not risking the sensitivities that go with articles about living people. Oh and one last thing - add four tildes, ~~~~, to sign each post you make on a talk page, then we know who said what. Cheers. Le Deluge (talk) 13:44, 30 March 2019 (UTC)- I want to create a page in the name of Mahabubur Rahaman. I am trying but every time something bad is happening. I was paid a task to do so but I am missing something. I have all the media news links and TV shows video link but still the way I am creating it is breaking your law. Help me to build the page please. Angela Matthews (talk • contribs) 13:52, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- Well you've been paid to do something that is illegal on Wikipedia, Wikipedia is WP:NOTADVERTISING - end of argument. I'm trying to be nice but really I should just have you banned, your IP recorded and Mahabubur Rahaman put on a blacklist of articles. Maybe someone has already put you on a ban which is why you're having problems. You will not be able to create this article, ever - and tell your employer that they can't pay people to promote them on Wikipedia. That's not how it works. Le Deluge (talk) 14:05, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- Now I am being confused. Admin earlier told me that paid is okey just I will have to mention that I am being paid. Even if I am not paid but when I am doing something on behalf of anyone I will have to mention that I am paid. As he said. Now you are saying its illegal. Man Which one is correct tell me! If you do not know anything or you have some power to edit and delete anything and you will do that by your power thats okey. But do not confuse us with your this kind of suggestions. This is a platform for all. If you do not support the way I am doing you should suggest me in which way it will work. But showing and giving me thousand reasons of being blocked. Now you are even threatening me about Blocking my IP and banning my account. Please, threat someone who is illiterate about Internet. :) Never expected this kind of behavior from a platform like Wikipedia and its user! Angela Matthews (talk) 14:16, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- Why you deleted my reply? If you have do not have the guts to reply why you deleted the reply of mine? You are threatening me that you will ban my IP and Ban my account to use Wikipedia? "Editors with a COI, including paid editors, are expected to disclose it whenever they seek to change an affected article's content. Anyone editing for pay must disclose who is paying them, who the client is, and any other relevant affiliation; this is a requirement of the Wikimedia Foundation. Also, COI editors should not edit affected articles directly, but propose changes on article talk pages instead. " - This is what COI says. Thats why mentioned this. And you are threatening me and telling me that, you are being nice with me? I never expected a reply like this from a Wikipedia user. So rude! Angela Matthews (talk) 15:23, 30 March 2019 (UTC)

Disclosing the fact that you're being paid is just one part of it. It used to be that all paid editing was banned, but it's been relaxed a little to allow the employees of major non-profit academic organisations like the National Museum of India to contribute their expertise. But editing for commercial organisations or people will almost certainly come up against the conflict of interest rules, or the rules against any kind of advertising. As Jimfbleak said - If you work directly or indirectly for him or his organisation, or otherwise are acting on his behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. In practice, "very strongly discouraged" means something that newbies are unlikely to have the experience to do, which is why I suggested you get some experience on less controversial articles. But it has to be emphasised, that the problem here is the lack of WP:NOTABILITY - unless you can provide evidence of notability, then the article is never going to be accepted. If you have a problem editing in main space then list your sources here - and be aware that social media won't be accepted as evidence of notability, ideally we're looking for paid-for print sources that have an article mostly about the person, not just quoting him in passing. Also, it's easier if you keep everything on this one talk page, just notify me by putting {{reply|Le Deluge}} at the start of your reply and I will see it. I merely deleted it from my page to move it here, I was in the middle of doing several things at once. No conspiracy.... Le Deluge (talk) 15:30, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- Dear @Le Deluge:
- As you asked for evidence, here I am posting some evidence.
- 1. অনলাইন প্রচারে প্রসার পেয়েছে ‘টি-জোন’
- 2. আরমানের উদ্যোগ | Enterprise of Arman
- 3. মেট্রোপলিটন সিটিগুলোতে যেন সাইবার ক্রাইম ইউনিট থাকে: মাহাবুবুর রহমান | Cyber Crime Unit in every Metropolitan City is needed : Mahabubur Rahaman
- 4. সাইবার ক্রাইম প্রতিরোধে কাজ করছেন মাহবুব | Mahabub is working to stop cyber crime
- You told me that social media contents are not counted as reference. But I am giving you some link of YouTube Video of Television shows. :Where he was featured.
- 1. Feature on Ekushey TV News about 'Blue Whale' 28-10-2017
- 2. Young Nite - সাইবার বন্ধু - July 06, 2017 (ATN News)
- Now let me know. And I just not posted any link which contains his quotation. I do have many more links. But did not posted them in here because some of them are more than 5 years ago and those are even not in Internet archives. Uploading an image for your justification. Uploading an image is so tough in here so I am not doing this here for now. Angela Matthews (talk) 16:15, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- I strongly suggest that you listen to the excellent advice @Le Deluge: has given you. Our rules say that you can edit as long as you disclose your COI in the prescribed manner, but you have to follow our rules to the letter. I block several accounts every day, nearly always for undeclared paid editing or failure to follow our paid editor guidelines. You cannot post YouTube links in articles. If you insist in writing about him, that's your choice, but you must get it right. You can't say you haven't been warned. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:16, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- You have already been told what you need to do. Read the guidance and make sure you understand it. Also look at existing biographies such as Muhammad Ali Jinnah to see what proper referencing and layout look like. Take your time, I'm not going to write the article for you Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:49, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- OK, this is a start. However I don't read Bengali and am not in a position to assess the WP:RELIABILITY and independence of the sources you have provided. So I'll hand this over to the guys at WikiProject Bangladesh. To be honest, if you've only got sources in Bengali then you're probably better off over at [bn.wikipedia.org bn.wiki]. But from what I can garner from Google Translate, he's run a small company printing T-shirts and then done some IT work, which makes me wonder how notable he truly is - and thus makes me wonder about the quality of the sources you are using. I'm also worried about you writing on such a marginal figure when you have so little experience of Wikipedia editing in general, and as above I would urge you to get more experience editing non-controversial articles such as those about your local area, before starting on an article that is so problematic in terms of WP:COI. But for now I'll hand over to the WPB guys - in the mean time have a read of WP:Notability (people), WP:Biographies of living persons, WP:Citing sources and WP:External links (in particular WP:Video links) - in the circumstances you are going to need to follow them to the letter. Le Deluge (talk) 13:07, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Summoned via WikiProject Bangladesh) With regard to the four print sources above, the-prominent.com is a reprint of techshohor.com. The two are not intellectually independent of each other so they count as one source. Both are obscure sites well outside the mainstream news media. They have no reputation for accuracy or fact checking, so do not meet Wikipedia's definition of a reliable source. Priyo and Ittefaq are a news portal and newspaper respectively, both reputable, and reliable for the sort of content that news organizations are usually reliable for. The specific pieces in Priyo and Ittefaq, however, are essentially Mahabubur Rahaman in Mahabubur Rahaman's own words. Priyo is a primary source interview with no independent analysis by the interviewer, and Ittefaq is 100% "according to Rahaman" this and "according to Rahaman" that. As such they are reliable sources for what Rahaman says about himself, but they lack independence from him, and so do nothing to demonstrate notability. I will leave the evaluation of the YouTube videos to someone else. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:11, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
