Bonnie and Clyde

User:AndyZHey Andy, I saw that you added reference links to a couple of the direct quotes I (AND OTHERS) had referenced in the Bonnie and Clyde article, and I would like you to, if you would be so kind, to do the same for a couple more I added this am, and in the ambush Hinton wrote in his book Bonnie uttered "one long horrified scream" as this happened - all quotes are sourced exactly below, but for some reason, my computer would not make the link. I would appreciate it. That article is MASSIVELY sourced but some do need linking, which for some reason, I am having trouble doing. Any fact you need the direct info on which to link to, please just ask me. Your skills are evidently better than mine, and evidently your computer too, lol. This is one of the most heavily sourced articles on the net, due to the controversy surrounding it, but it does need some direct linking I am unable to do. Again, let me know if you need the source for the facts. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. old windy bear 10:53, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

User:AndyZHey Andy,I saw you did most of what I asked - thank you very much. I was unable to create the links. i came back after I got your message, checked your article out - great work, and what I need to do! The facts in Bonnie and Clyde are really not in dispute, for instance, on the warrants, anyone can access the FBI data base, and see the only warrant there! Or the quotes on the ambush, and the horrific aftermath, or on Bonnie's role, et al -- But all that needs linking, as you have done in yours, which is great, and I will get on it, your help and direction are greatly appreciated, greatly! THANKS! old windy bear 20:43, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

User:AndyZHey Andy, thanks for linking the new sources in the B&C article. I am NOT interested in a POV piece, i think you were right that my attempt to reword information was not acceptable, if controversial topics are covered, the sourcing has be precise. Direct quotes are a good way to address that. Actually, i think the article is already much improved with what you pointed out needed changing - and if you look, as I know you have, every word you identified as weasal was pulled at once, and where it addressed a fact, the true facts from impeccable sourcing was submitted. Look, the bottom line here is for 72 years people have debated this issue - my only concern is making sure all those issues are included. I agree with you, let us first identify any FACTS IN DISPUTE, and go from there. THANKS FOR YOUR INVALUABLE HELP SO FAR. By the way, although I honestly do believe, from my history with him, that My2Cents is pushing a POV, i hope you notice I honored my own promise that if one person came there and said it was improper, those comments would be removed. My word is good, I am just trying to write the TRUTH, with no slant. Thing is, with controversial subjects, it is not always possible not to have the plain truth not appear to be what it is.old windy bear 21:52, 2 May 2006 (UTC)!!

User:AndyZHey Andy, thanks for the info on my talk page, I finally created a link of my own, on a place someone put citation needed! I did it and it worked just like yours did! Hurray for an old man who followed your instructions on my new laptop and it worked lovely! I was delighted! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain, and for all your help on this article - I will be curious what you think of the 3 new introductory paragraphs. I think they set the stage for what the article needs to say, but i would appreciate your opinion. THANKA AGAIN! old windy bear 01:34, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Dear AndyZ/Archive 3,

Thanks for voting on my RFA! I appreciate your faith in me, and was overwhelmed by the positive response to my RFA; for it shows that at least I'm doing something right. :) I've started working to improve myself already, and I hope that next time, things run better, and maybe, just maybe, one day we can bask on the shores of Admintopia together. Congratulations

Hi, AndyZ/Archive 3, Congratulations on Becoming a Sysop

Hey there. Congratulations, you've just been made a sysop! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except junk like "LALALALAL*&*@#@THIS_SUXX0RZ"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on Votes for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.

Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun!

It took some time, but since your comments here: Wikipedia:Peer review/Neuro-linguistic programming/archive3. I've converted most of the citations to the new <references /> format. Speedy Delete / Possible "On Wheels" Vandal

AndyZ, I noted you speedy deleted an article by User:Zez-Kai Ell, Zephram Stark. Around the same time you speedied the page, I placed a WoW tag on him for his page moves to On Wheels pages (see his user contribution page for his history). He has just reopened the page you speedied with another nonsense page even after my addition of the WoW tag. Although I am not an admin, isn't the addition of the WoW tag supposed to block his screenname? Just curious, as I don't know who's attention to bring this vandalism to since I've done what I could with the WoW addition. Thanks! --Ataricodfish 18:23, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Hey there -- nevermind, I answered my own question. I found this and was able to have an admin immediately block him after he began moving User pages, too. Sorry to clutter your discussion page, and thanks for your help. --Ataricodfish 18:33, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer. I was a little confused as, per the on wheels page, it gives the impression that adding the WoW label creates the block, and I couldn't locate any additional steps stating that an Admin needed to be involved. As the vandal went onto editing the pages of other users after my WoW notice, as well as reverting the page you deleted, I wanted to ensure he didn't continue his "spree of terror". Thanks for responding, and best of luck as a new admin. I've seen your screenname many times previously, and I thought you had already been an admin. --Ataricodfish 00:04, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Flight planning - peer review 2

I've attempted to follow your advice (peer review 1) and have rewritten and re-organised Flight planning. It is now up for peer review again, if you would care to take a look Wikipedia:Peer review/Flight planning/archive2.

Administratorship

Thanks for your update to WP:NJ and listing yourself as an admin. I still have only a vague understanding of what's involved, mostly from actions dealing with other people. But as I have reached the 10K edit mark, is this something I should think about? Would my being an admin help me and the Wikipedia community? You can reach me via email with any thoughts. Protection

I hate to ask this of you but it always takes to long for me to do it. Would you mind protecting the List of Sponge Bob SquarePants episodes as Caldorwards4 and me have both reverted several IP adresses's edits in the last few days. More than several. Only Sprotect it if you wish to help me as I think that registered users should edit it. ForestH2

Userfication of Zishman360

Vandalism comment

Re: [1]. Please be a little more careful in the future. Fortunately, he stopped vandalizing on his own. He was given test4 with this reversion [2]. After that time, he continued to vandalize for another 12 minutes (3 additional times). Giving test4 and then having him vandalize several more times without a block sends the wrong message. Sorry to dump on you, but I give up. Ted 04:07, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Re: User:Jsmith's block

The block had nothing to do with removing messages from his talk page. He was blocked for page move vandalism and unblocked on a technicality. The edits to Sailor Moon media and release information consisted of him repeatedly reinserting a depreciated template and removing another, despite the purposes of both being explained to him numerous times. If you want to unblock him, you are free to do so, but I expect you to deal with any disruptiveness from the user in the future. Thanks.--Sean Black (talk) 23:35, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

  • I'm pretty much on the other side of this debate. I would call it a content dispute if there were a dispute at all; instead, Jsmith (on an anon account) consistently ignored User:Kunzite's talk page messages, and then went on to remove exclaim messages. I asked for administrators to intervene when User:JoanneB informed me this was a matter for WP:VIP, which resulted in User:Denelson83 semi-protecting the page. Jsmith then switched to his account and consistently removed the semi-protection template, which was what crossed the line from an ersatz "content dispute" to blatant vandalism. If that weren't enough, he keeps removing the warnings on his talk page with the message "revert anon" although the admins that are blocking him clearly aren't anonymous. It's a consistent pattern of misbehavior. Danny Lilithborne 01:33, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!

Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines outline some things to include.
  • Interested in working on a more complete article? The military history peer review and collaboration departments would welcome your help!
  • Interested in a particular area of military history? We have a number of task forces that focus on specific nations or periods.
  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 23:59, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments on the peer review from about a month or so ago. If I can ever help you out on something on Wikipedia, let me know. Cheers. youngamerican (talk) 14:26, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I notice you deleted this today; are you aware there is a currently active CfD discussion on the subject? (Obviously, by the time you found it, someone had removed the CfD tag...). Cheers --Pak21 18:03, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

US Collaboration of the Week

I'm confused about why you deleted the tally notes from the US Collaboration of the Week. Because we're transitioning from 2 votes per week to 3 votes per week, I thought it was helpful to know how many votes a nomination got before the date the transition started (May 14). That way it would be easier to add up how many weeks were allowed because of 2-vote blocks received before May 14, and 3-vote blocks received afterward. Thesmothete 18:03, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

MOS- Units of measure

Andy, I added the phase "and not be removed" back in to the end of your edit of WP:MOSNUM (14:18, May 19, 2006 AndyZ). I didn't disagree with your edit, but in my experience someone will misinterpret that and start removing conversions. So I thought a mix of the both covered all bases. —MJCdetroit 19:53, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

RE:Image talk page tagging deletion

Yeah, I figured. It says on the template that it was a speedy deletion candidate if it was a Image page for a missing or corrupt Image. I figured deleted qualified as "missing". I knew {{db-talk}} existed, but I was caught in between which one to choose for the proper tagging (Well, as long as they are getting deleted). Thanks for clarifying for me. Your comments on FAC Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

Hi Andy - should years be wikilinked? I've addressed your other comments. Please see. Rama's Arrow 23:57, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Why did you remove the speedy deletion tag? It is a talk page of a page that doesn't exist, which meets speedy deletion criteria. DGX 00:18, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Ugh.. I didn't see that part in WP:CSD. I just read what it said on the speedy deletion tag and assumed that's what it said on the main article. Sorry for getting it deleted. If you feel it should be undeleted, go ahead. I won't tag anymore pages like that for deletion (regarding deletion information like the above talk). DGX 02:48, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Assistance

Dear AndyZ,

Please look what an editor on wikipedian has written to me:

Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Hamvak"

Okay, Reza, or his brother or cousin. Stop putting unalleged sentences in the article. When and where did Ingmar Bergman praise you(r brother or cousin) as you say? Why do you remove the date of birth ? Why do you overblow that picture? It is way too large - even the pope or the ayatollah does not have a huge portrait like this. So stop fricking around or i'll report you. RCS 20:22, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

20:18, 21 May 2006 RCS [3] (Soory, you are completly POV. Give us a source, and stop putting such a big picture here. It's ridiculous, it's outrageous. Vandal.)

This is not fair! I need your assistance indeed. Is there anything to do?

I appreciate for your reply please.

Psittacosaurus

Hi Andy,

We have interacted several times now on dinosaur articles and I have a lot of respect for your opinion. I don't know if this is wrong to ask but would you mind giving the Psittacosaurus article a thumbs-up or thumbs-down (or a thumbs-in-the-middle even)? We seem to have addressed the concerns of the three people that responded to the nomination, but I'm not sure if three votes of support is enough to get it through. We (Wikipedia:WikiProject_Dinosaurs) would really appreciate it if you could give us suggestions on how to improve the article further so that it can get featured. Thanks a million!

Citation policy

Greetings. Thanks for your input re: peer review of NPA personality theory.

Question: Regarding footnotes, does Wikipedia use the traditional terms Ibid., loc.cit. and op.cit.?

If not, say that you have a References section with a short list of footnotes in a Notes section just below it. If there is a book, say by J.D. Hawkins in the Reference section, and one wishes to cite Hawkins multiple times in the footnotes (with different page numbers), what is the exact preferred format?
