Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Andrew Mageo, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

References

[edit]

Hello, I'm BlackcurrantTea. Thanks for helping to expand the article on Indigenous peoples of Arizona!

I added a section for references. References can be tricky in a dozen different ways (likely more), and one of them is that if you don't tell the software where to put them, they end up at the bottom of the page. Unfortunately, several of the ones you added are to Wikipedia articles. Odd as it may sound, Wikipedia doesn't consider itself a reliable source because it's user-generated content. It makes sense: Otherwise, I could rewrite the Empire State Building article to say the building's really a space alien, and then quote that in the article on New York City. That's an extreme example, but I'm sure you see my point. I suggest you check the individual articles themselves, look at the sources in their reference sections, and cite those if they're appropriate.

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia and decide to stay after your class ends. If you have any questions, you can ask me here on your talk page - I'll keep it on my watchlist for a bit. Happy editing! BlackcurrantTea (talk) 13:36, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
