Help Uploading An Image

[edit]

Thanks for your note. It is possibly because your account is too new to allow uploading. No problem I found the new logo on the website and will update the one on Wikipedia. - Ahunt (talk) 17:47, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay that is done. If you are going to update and add information to the article the only thing to keep in mind is that it needs to be properly referenced as per WP:V, preferably to reliable third party refs and that it needs to be encyclopedic content and not promotional content. I do watch that article and will help you out with content, refs and formatting. - Ahunt (talk) 17:51, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Centennial Aviation Club‎ has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - Ahunt (talk) 22:21, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Speedy deletion

[edit]

It's great that you're into reverting vandalism, but it would be helpful also if you were up to speed on the deletion process, as some vandals (like that one) create articles that need to be dealt with. If I were you, I'd read the wikipolicies on speedy deletion, proposed deletions and nominating for deletion to see when which one should be used and how to do them. Like anything in life, mastery comes with experience. You might also want to consider installing an antivandalism program like Huggle or Twinkle, which make reverting vandalism and warning and reporting vandals much easier than doing it manually. Happy editing! – Muboshgu (talk) 15:51, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Warring IPs

[edit]

I wouldn't worry about them. They'll probably never come back again now (typical). Calabe1992 (talk) 23:35, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to go back to RCP. Let's hope they learned their lesson. Andrew Kurish (talk) 23:37, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Are you using Twinkle by the way? It looks like you are the type who would benefit from it. Calabe1992 (talk) 23:40, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please Help

[edit]

I was about to start doing vandalism clean up this morning when I learned that someone using an account created by the same ip address that had been assigned to me by my isp was blocked. I use a dynamic ip address and am hoping that someone will please unblock me so that I can get back to work.Andrew Kurish (talk) 14:09, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to have autoblock on their IP address lifted has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Block message:

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Anoyingipuser6". The reason given for Anoyingipuser6's block is: "Abusing multiple accounts".

Accept reason: I see no problem with your editing. (I did at first glance think your unblock request started "I was about to start doing vandalism this morning ...", but luckily I re-read it.) JamesBWatson (talk) 20:53, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Obvious sockpuppets are obvious

[edit]

When an IP self-admits to being a known sockmaster like Yourname, there's no reason to file an SPI. The IP is obvious enough so that we don't have to waste time on them.Jasper Deng (talk) 23:57, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK will do - This is the first time I have ever delt with a sockpuppet. I will just let the admin block the sock in these cases.
Greetings ... I stumbled across your user page while reviewing requests for page protection and decided to stop by. It takes some practice dealing with sockpuppets. For an interesting read, check out this puppeteer who pops up every now and again to wreak havoc on Wikipedia. Stay strong, and thanks for your contributions! --McDoobAU93 02:24, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the link. Looks like the sockpuppet problem is much larger than I thought when I quickly read about it a few months ago. Also I currently edit with Twinkle and am considering moving to Huggle if i can get rollback. Is there any advantage to using Huggle over Twinkle? Andrew Kurish (talk) 02:28, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I use Twinkle and it works rather well dealing with vandals, and many other house-keeping functions. Haven't used Huggle so can't register an opinion on it. --McDoobAU93 02:34, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You have to be very careful when using Huggle, since it's very easy to make mistakes, but it's a faster tool than Twinkle.Jasper Deng (talk) 02:48, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the advice. Andrew Kurish (talk) 02:51, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

[edit]

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback correctly, and for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks.  — An optimist on the run! 07:08, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your name has been mentioned in connection with a sockpuppetry case. Please refer to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Yourname for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to cases before editing the evidence page. Jasper Deng (talk) 23:31, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Attack pages

[edit]

The page was not created by you. It was created by another user. You subsequently blanked it with the explanation "blanked an attack by a vandal".

So I thought I'd do you a favor and delete it.

But that was months ago. DS (talk) 04:15, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I do recall that incident now.Andrew Kurish (talk) 04:18, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

January 2012

[edit]

Hi Andrew Kurish. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Danny Perrot, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Funnyfarmofdoom (talk to me) 23:12, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your reason for not speedy deleting the page. However, what should I do about a page on the English Wikipedia that is not in English. Thank You.Andrew Kurish (talk) 23:13, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Josiah White

[edit]

Hello Andrew Kurish. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Josiah White, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. (talk) 22:29, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Pavlo Hrytsenko

[edit]

Hello Andrew Kurish, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Pavlo Hrytsenko, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not all professors are notable, but enough are that A7 isn't really appropriate. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 22:47, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletes

[edit]

I suggest you stop and Speedy deletes to articles are your error rate is well above 75%. I suggest you read Wikipedia:Speedy deletions for the the criteria. Doing Speedy deletions should only be done conservatively. It can turn off new editors when an article they do has a speedy delete tag placed on it. Bgwhite (talk) 07:15, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am somewhat new to new page patrol. I will be looking over the speedy delete criteria before doing any further new page patrolling. As a fairly new editor mysself I understand the concept of WP:BITE. Andrew Kurish (talk) 11:13, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I personally find NPP depressing... seeing all the new crappy articles flowing by. If you ever have any questions, give me a yell on my talk page. Bgwhite (talk) 19:53, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Waterloo Road ARE YOU FOR REAL!!!

[edit]

Are you and that puffin geezer SERIOUSLY suggesting that I AM vandalising the List of Waterloo Road Episodes article??? Have you and him actually seen what it is i am reverting - I am getting rid of the vandalism created by someone else. Just take FIVE SECONDS to actually look at that page before you and him label me as a vandal. Or is this what wiki's come too 89.241.5.187 (talk) 20:10, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The proposed deletion - which was then enacted by someone else -on the grounds of lack of "at least one reliable source" was patently a mistake.

The cited references in the article included major respected sources such as the Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, the New York Daily News, the official websites of the Kennedy Center, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (confirming the multiple Emmy awards) and HBO. The subject of the article is also clearly notable by all Wikipedia standards for BLP.

Given the above, I would appreciate you reinstating the article immediately. Thank you Davidpatrick (talk) 18:51, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As the article should not have been deleated that quickly under the BLPPROD tag that I placed on it I decided to look in to what happened and explain it to you. Another user placed a speedy deletion tag on the article under G11 as Unambiguous advertising or promotion: unsourced biography of a living person after this tag was placed on the article an admin deleted the article under the CSD-G11 tag. As far as restoring the page is concerned you would have to ask an administrator and they may or may not do so to allow you to better develop the article.Andrew Kurish (talk) 18:57, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for acknowledging that the article should not have been deleted that quickly. (Of course it should not have been deleted at all. But first things first).

Please assist me in this:

Who was the person you describe above as "Another user placed a speedy deletion tag on the article"? I see only your deletion tag. And then the actual deletion by Jimfbleak. So I am unaware of the other editor you refer to.

Given that you have graciously acknowledged that the deletion was premature. And given that you can read each and every one of the 18 major reliable sources cited that attest to the validity of the facts in the article and to the undoubted notability under BLP of the subject - I would be most grateful if you could assist me in the process of applying to an admin to have this premature deletion fairly reconsidered. Thank you Davidpatrick (talk) 19:08, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

While I would agree that the deletion was premature had it been deleted under the BLPPROD tag within seven days of the application of the tag I do not agree that the deletion under G11 by an administrator was premature. As the article has already been deleted I have no way of determining who placed the G11 tag on the article. If you feel that this topic needs an article and you are willing to defend your position with the community I would suggest that you use Request For Creation and let the community determine if the article should be created or not.Andrew Kurish (talk) 19:14, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

this subject been discussed removed redo so many times in the article history. as we know, it is not only Chinese in Korea to become prostitute by the choice by them self or by force. yes it is true Chinese been prostitude in korea, but only point out Chinese but did not mention others is a discrimination.Smiling Demon Lord (talk) 19:50, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Andrew Kurish, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Chester Bay (Band), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: If Rolling Stone Magazine featured them then A7 does not apply. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 03:34, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Can you please keep an eye out for the IP on this article? I'm up to 3RR and even though you are allowed to break 3RR when reverting vandalism, section blanking isn't considered vandalism. I've reported the IP to AIV, but can you please revert them? Thanks, Electric Catfish 16:29, 16 September 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Sure but I am about to hit 3RR myself. Andrew Kurish (talk) 16:39, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Two other editors have hit 3RR trying to clean up the mess. I do not think this IP is planning to stop anytime soon. Andrew Kurish (talk) 16:40, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've sent it over to WP: AN/EW. Feel free to comment there. They've already been warned (thanks to you), and since they are the only IP doing this, page protection would not be ideal here, so the best option here would be a block. Electric Catfish 16:44, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion of Dustin Ketchem

[edit]

Dustin Ketchem is the current 1st Vice Chair of the Newton County Democratic Party and also has a monthly column in the local newspaper. His name is also in consideration for a seat in the Georgia General Assembly. While the wiki page is not completely finished it does contain enough information to substantiate itself. Speedy Delete for page FreePBX Distro

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because it is an informational page on a popular linux distribution and important to the PBX telephony industry worldwide, ( over 5 million downloads)[1] it also includes information and wiki links to other similar software this is the first draft of the page, I have also cited third party sources of information and removed any language that would seem promotional, please feel free to take another look and share your thoughts. I am new to Wikipedia and appreciate any follow up you may have. Reconwireless (talk) 00:12, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Andrew Kurish! Many thanks for your attention paid to my article about MD. But I regret to say that the expert-subject template you’ve inserted may well mislead the readers so that it should be removed. Of course, my article is very short and does not explain the details. At the same time it does not contain false information that must be discarded by an expert. To my mind, the only shortcoming of the article is associated with the fact that I relied on Russian sources. As we are in English WP, bibliography in Russian seems irrelevant here.

On the other hand, the Refimprove template would be improper, too. It is meant for indicating that there’s unsourced material in the article. My assertions, however, are supplied with appropriate sources that support my description of the phenomenon in question. It’s easy for me to name a lot of other books because the concept of MD is expounded even in textbooks for students, let alone scientific literature and handbooks for professionals. The only problem is all of my sources are written in Russian, with the consequence that I didn’t even mention them here. Perhaps we are to employ the Ambox template and write a notification that’ll be smth of the sort: "This article mainly relies on literature in Russian. Please substitute the corresponding sources in English for those in Russian." Then an English-speaking Wikipedian who is familiar with the subject-matter of my article will be able to expand its bibliography and add books in English. Personally, I haven’t got them. --SU ltd. (talk) 20:57, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I shan’t be able to tackle the article one of these days due to the absence of access to the Internet. Besides, the current state of my article makes it possible to form a correct notion of MD, so that I hardly begin its editing again. When asked about masked depression, I wrote about it. The stub created is enough to answer the question, I hope.
