Article Idea

[edit]

"Hello Andrew22k,

Thank you for getting the idea out for a article on the main story of DragonFable. Personaly I think It is a great idea. A Df Storyline TaskForce has formed as a part of the DragonFable TaskForce because you came up with the idea that makes you the first "Member." Would you like to join and therefore become theTaskForce Lead? This would put you in charge of that project and you would update the TaskForce page and most likely be the one to start the article. to do this follow this link and replace the ??? under members with a ~~~~ to make your self the lead!"

Citing is needed on where you found the "In the Future of DragonFable character classes are expected to be formatted in which you can level up and add skills to the class." I looked in the Design Notes and could not find any proof of that? :S RyuuTaichou 23:18, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:FloodOfRedPic.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FloodOfRedPic.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:25, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Xan2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Xan2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:01, 27 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. CLW 16:01, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vote

[edit]

Okay, so we’ve been talking and we decided that we need to set up a couple go-to guys for questions about the project. Everybody who is part of the WikiProject should type the name of someone whom they would like to nominate for this position and place it on my talk page. The person with the most nominations becomes the MainProject Lead, or our go to guy, and the runner up is his assistant. (If the winner accepts. I nominate Connor(jcd4u), for example, I will place that on my own talk page. Please note that I am not part of this!!! And veteran members-don’t feel put out because I nominated a newcomer: I know him personally and am sure he would do well. Let yourself be heard and be sure to vote! After at least three people have voted (by the end of the month at earliest) I will announce the chosen and ask if they accept. Please vote… Your opinion matters. (If you think this is useless consider this: How little we got done in Supasoldier’s absence? WE NEED A LEADER!!!) Please respond!

Sincere Regards:

Leon Alistair (Talk|UserPage)

hey

[edit]

Let's just say in my previous "wikilife" Iwas a highlord tumtum ;)

Connor(jcd4u)

Oh yeah, I can't promise I will be of much use on the DF Article, but I can check spelling andgrammar, and maybe get som 3rd party references in there!

Fair use rationale for Image:Kerrang E S.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Kerrang E S.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Leon Sword 20:13, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lost image on user space

[edit]

You cannot have a copyrighted image on your user space, so I have removed it. You can go into Microsoft Paint and just create an image that says "Lost". Thanks for uploading Image:ArtixCES.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Legit (TV series), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/tv/home/entertainment/legit/index.shtml. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 22:07, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:FORband.jpg

Flood of Red

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Flood of Red, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. John 19:56, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:ChrisES.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:ChrisES.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chris Btalk 15:23, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD Nomination: Flood of Red

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem that Flood of Red meets these criteria, an editor has started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.

Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Flood of Red. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.

Discussions such as these usually last five days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, a neutral third party will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. John 18:35, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

== peer review ==

[edit]

I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the Heroes (TV series) talkpage and give us an honest peer review. The page has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at the Heroes Wikiproject some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. We have all worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. I you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Hi! I've opened a discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games#Category:Video game companies of the United Kingdom at Miremare's suggestion. Feel free to comment. Megata Sanshiro (talk) 19:32, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Realtime Worlds games has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. I just don't really think we need a template for a company that only has two games (one unreleased). I did do a major overhaul of the Realtime Worlds article, though. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Chickencowarmour.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Chickencowarmour.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. NotifyBot (talk) 12:35, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flood of Red

[edit]

Thanks for your message regarding Flood of Red. My suggestion would me when the interview is published let me know and give me a link to the interview. I can then have a look at it and give you my opinion on whether it will be sufficient to establish notability per WP:MUSIC.

If I think it will, then I will then I will userfy the deleted article to your userspace (eg. at User:Andrew22k/Flood of Red) and will help you use the new interview to establish their notability. We can then either just move the article back to mainspace or take it back to Deletion Review to get its recreation endorsed. (Would suggest this depends on how clear the notability is.)

If I don't feel it is sufficient then you can still take it back to deletion review if you want to of course! Would suggest letting me withdraw the current deletion review for now then you can start fresh when the new source exists.

Hope this is helpful but remember it is only my opinion! Davewild (talk) 16:23, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Black Camel Pictures

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Black Camel Pictures requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. RayAYang (talk) 05:32, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Greater Glasgow

[edit]

Hi Andrew, Thanks for your note. I have replied on my talkpage regarding infoboxes (I'm happy to change) and in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scotland regarding possible membership of, and my thoughts on a Greater Glasgow WP.Pyrotec (talk) 12:44, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note. Here is my first piece of unsolicited advice. If you think there is enough support, go for it and use Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals as a useful advert. You don't need anyone's permission - although their warning about low participant numbers should be borne in mind. Better nonetheless to have three or four committed editors than two dozen you never hear from. Unless you think you need a 'vote' of some kind I'm not going to sign up there - as I explained I'm happy to help set something up but I doubt I'd be active. Good luck with this. Ben MacDui 19:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well what I meant was that if you need an extra voice of support to achieve some minimum threshold, then fine, but as I'm not planning to take an active part in the proposed project I think it would be disingenuous for me to offer that at this stage. Ben MacDui 17:43, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Motto of the day

[edit]

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:57, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Image:Scarba.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Scarba1.JPG. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Scarba1.JPG]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. Edit summaries

[edit]

I have noticed that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! --♦Tangerines♦·Talk 19:11, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fictional characters from Glasgow

[edit]

why did you delete the Fictional characters from Glasgow category?Andrew22k (talk) 17:39, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's been awhile, but my vague recollection was that it held only one or two members (which isn't much of a help for navigation - the purpose for categories).
See also this CfD, the result of which such categories (characters from x) were deleted.
That said, perhaps you might consider making List of fictional characters from Glasgow (or some such). This would allow for verifiable reliable sources, both explaining the inclusion of the characters, and the grouping of the characters (presumably being from Glasgow).
I hope this helps : ) - jc37 22:25, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Andrew22k! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 54 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Artix Entertainment. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Artix Entertainment (4th nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:07, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Robert Florence has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:05, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is over £3000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. Wikimedia UK is putting up £250 specifically for editors who produce the most quality new women bios for British women, with special consideration given to missing notable biographies from the Oxford Dictionary of Biography and Welsh Dictionary of Biography. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate independently this is also fine, but please add any articles created to the bottom of the main contest page even if not competing. Your participation in the contest and contributing articles on British women from your area or wherever would we much appreciated. Thanks.
