Pachelbel's father

Thank you very much for clearing this up! You might not believe it, but even the best available English sources (i.e. Welter's dissertation) give his occupation as "wine handler", "winehandler", etc., and offer no explanation whatsoever. This gave me a headache! I don't speak German and no online source would translate the word.

On a related note, did you simply paste the "Johann (Hans)" detail from the German Wikipedia page, or do you actually have a source that gives his name that way? Because my sources all go for "Hans", without "Johann". Or is it some sort of language thing?

You're welcome. The confusion arises from the similar-sounding words "Händler" in German and "handler" in English -- different meanings, though.

As to your second point, yes, I copied that from the .de Wiki page.
