Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Alexf(talk) 23:15, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also: I am NOT being paid for this. If you read the draft I've done so far, I'm being very careful not to sell anything and to just write about the magazine, as the other magazines I mentioned are written about -- based on facts.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I was not writing for advertising purposes, and I disclosed my COI upfront. I’m writing a Wikipedia page for Sesi just like other notable magazines have a page – including Essence, Seventeen, and Teen Vogue. Sesi is the only teen magazine for Black girls in the country. I tried to change my username before starting the article, but I couldn't figure out how.

Decline reason:

I have renamed your account, which resolves that aspect of the block. If you are employed by this magazine, you are a paid editor, you don't have to be specifically paid to edit or specifically directed to edit. Wikipedia is not a place to just tell about something; that is considered promotional, you don't have to be soliciting or selling something. A Wikipedia article must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the topic, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability. That other magazines have articles does not automatically mean that yours can too, it depends on the sources, see other stuff exists. You will need to demonstrate by editing in other, unrelated areas that you understand Wikipedia contribution and content guidelines, before being permitted to submit a draft about your magazine; please tell what other subjects you are interested in editing about. If your only goal here is to edit about your magazine, this is the end of the road. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 10:30, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just so you know, I created this magazine. (I also disclosed my COI upfront.) And even after 10 years, we still have not made a profit, so I'm not actually paid. I have several freelance jobs to help me keep the magazine going, as well as donations. I understand you all not wanting people to advertise their businesses, but that's not what I was doing. I even looked at the entries for other magazines and modeled my entry after those -- writing things factually only. I don't really understand why you won't allow primary sources to write about their own things, especially when they are writing them based in fact. I will delete my account and my entry. I'm no longer interested in contributing at all.

Please completely delete my account immediately. The attribution/no deletion policy does not apply to me, since my account is not associated with any articles on Wikipedia. I'd only attempted to write one about the magazine, which has been deleted. I will not be contributing to anything on Wikipedia again and would like to be completely removed from this platform. Thank you.
