World hip hop music

This article made a major contribution to the understanding of hip hop in the international scenario. It brings a large amount of reference of artists in different places of the world, which is valuable to the researcher who is getting familiar with the genre in other countries. Moreover, it provides a good context of hip hop around the world. Some suggestions to improve the article follow:

- In general, this part needs reference. Also, I was not able to access note 175 (https://moodle.brandeis.edu/file.php/3404/pdfs/kelley-foreword-vinyl-aint-final.pdf[permanent%20dead%20link]). Finally, your research on newspapers and magazines gave the article a good basis, but it misses some academic bibliography.

- It would be better organized if it was organized by regions. For example, the Haitian, and Jamaican part could be followed by the Latino part. Another example is the two parts that talk about Europe could be merged.

- In this sentence "Israel's hip hop grew greatly in popularity at the end of the decade, with several stars both Palestinian (Tamer Nafar) and Israeli (Subliminal)." it is not clear in which decade Israel's hip hop grew greatly.

- This sentence "In Portugal hip hop has his own kind of rapping, which is more political and underground scene, they are known for Valete, Dealema and Halloween." is not clear. For example, "more political and underground scene" compared to which country? Also it needs reformulation to fit with the complement "they are known for Valete, Dealema and Halloween"

- This sentence "In Japan, where underground rappers had previously found a limited audience, and popular teen idols brought a style called J-rap to the top of the charts in the middle of the 1990s." needs to be reformulated.

- In the sentence "Later in the decade, with Latin rap groups like Cypress Hill on the American charts" the use of the word Latin is wrong. It would be more appropriated to use "Latino."

- In this part: "Brazilian hip hop is heavily associated with racial and economic issues in the country, where a lot of black people live in a bad situation in the violent slums, known in Brazil as favelas." it is possible to make a reference to Henry-Louis Gates in the chapter about Brazil. [1] ˜˜˜˜AnaPaulaMendes
