Topic Proposal

1)Food in Malaysia 2)Problems of Linguistic Minorities in Japan

Justification

- Malaysia is a small country in Asia and also my hometown which I would love to share about. The country itself is in Wikipedia but the food section is not detailed nor widely elaborated.

-I find this topic unique and interesting. And I do not see this topic anywhere on Wikipedia.

Sources

-'Europa'

-'Maintainence and loss of minority languages'

Hi Amyaph, I think the topic of a specific Malaysian food will be the best way for you to proceed. It might even be easiest to choose something that is redlinked off the list already on Wikipedia. Daclausen (talk)

Article moved

[edit]

Hi Amyaph. I've moved your article to User:Amyaph/Mee_Jawa and edited it down to a short claim cited to one source. The article as it was before appeared to be largely copied or closely paraphrased from the cited source, including a sentence which is only included if you copy more than seven words from an article like that ("- See more at: http://www.themalaymailonline.com/eat-drink/article/the-sweet-jawa-mee-a-throwback-to-penangs-rich-past#sthash.uhFeLuAe.V4Nd98gN.dpuf"). Sentences like "There is a belief that the dish was introduced by the Indonesian Java or Minangkabau community when they settled in Penang." (from the article) and "There is also another belief that the dish was introduced by the Indonesian Java or Minangkabau community when they settled in Penang." (from the source) are nearly identical. Unfortunately, copying that over obscures the point the source made in the preceding sentence. This draft presents his "[other] belief" as the primary one.

An article on a dish like this should be a summary, in your own words, of multiple sources discussing the dish. Don't work by copying content in from your sources--even if you re-word it it will retain the structure, thought process and voice of a different writer. I'm happy to help you with this. I recommend searching for other sources on the dish and when you find them, adding references to them to your draft. Summarize those sources, along with the one you have now (which is not much to work with) in order to give a reader some sense of the history or importance of this dish.
