Deletion of your article

Hi Amy. I see that a number of anonymous and registered users have added erroneous information to your article which may be detrimental to you, both emotionally and professionally. For one thing, I do not know where the notion that you are transgender came from but it definitely did not come from me. Assuming you are who you say you are, I used to read your column in the Dallas Morning News, but I don't think they publish it anymore. In my opinion, you are notable enough for a Wikipedia article, going by precedent, but someone else has nominated your article for deletion. I am very interested in your input and ideas regarding this issue. Since you recently deleted some potentially libelous content from your article, another editor has deleted even more in the way of unsourced and potentially negative content to bring your article into compliance with the BLP policy. Additionally, in the interest of avoiding original research, Wikipedia articles should preferably cite third-party sources. However, I have never been able to find any third-party sources having much information on you. If you know of any that you think could improve your encyclopedia article, please let me know. Hey, Andrea -- thanks so much. I should merely be deleted from the transgendered page, as I'm not transgendered. As for a Wikipedia page in my own name, there was a nice one, filled with some pretty good information (go back into the history) until some trolls got to it. There are profiles of me in numerous news sources, but I'm actually on a super-tight deadline for my second book, and after I turn that in in October, I can track down some of the information. Hi, Amy. This is Patrick. I see your article is no longer being considered for deletion. It was nominated for this when some troll (see discussion) on your article (and history) didn't like the fact that I removed some of the less relevant and more idiotic statements. My particular pet peeve was the sentence that started, "Although a staunch atheist, who presumbably doesn't believe in God..." That is so stupid. On so many levels. It is not "presumption" to assume that a "staunch atheist" doesn't believe in God. In fact, it's redundant.

As Andrea notes, the difficulty in writing your article is in obtaining verifiable information. In other words, if we were to include your date of birth, we need a source to cite. I can't simply email you, ask for your date of birth, then include it. There's no "source" that everyone can check.

But we can flesh it out a little, thanks to some of the information we do have, such as where you grew up, which is included in your interview with the "other" Amy. Also, that you were raised Jewish, although an atheist now. We will work on this. PatrickLMT (talk) 20:01, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
