Automation error

[edit]

There are script errors when any page loads in VP. For example, when I attempt to load recent changes, the following appears. "An error has occured in the script on this page. Line 2, char 1, error: invalid character. Code 0, URL=recent changes URL" And sometimes another error appears in addition to the scripting error. "Run-time error -2147024726 (800700aa): Automation error, the specified resource is in use." This error is not fatal itself, but when its accompanying scripting error dialog is closed, the program closes immediately. The automation error seems to be reliably reproducable if I set recent changes to "load every 5 seconds", then click "start" and switch to a logged-in WP session in standalone IE. Error appears when switching back to VP, happened twice in this way. — Kimchi.sg | Talk 03:56, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm getting script errors as well. Other than that, this is nice. It's like the AWB specified. T K E 04:37, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I added a note to the welcome page about the automation error and the scripts error, but I'm racking my brain trying to solve this problem. To try to get to the core of the issue, could you please tell me: 1) Did you install the app from the setup cabinet or using the exe? 2) What version of Java are you running? 3) What JS tools are you using? Thanks. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 04:49, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm using VandalProof from the cab file, running it directly without using Setup1.exe to install it beforehand. Java version is 1.5.0_06 and from my monobook.js, I have interiot's tool 2 and lupin's popups only. — Kimchi.sg | Talk 05:36, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm using the .cab, the .exe doesn't seem to work well for FireFox. I have the lastest of whatever java is as of five days ago, and I'm using Swatjester's fork monobook with Lupin tools. T K E 05:59, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
NOTICE TO AN ADMIN this did not upload to the name I intended, please change it to a less notable name. I was meaning to put in in my userpace. Anyway, this is the image I'm getting. T K E 06:16, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm starting to form the opinion that this may have to do with outdated components, especially after hearing that you received an automation error (which would be related to oleaut32.dll). I'm thinking you may have previous versions of this components installed that the app retrieves before those in the cab, or the dll's and ocx's may not be running correctly when not stored in the system directly. I'd recommend that you trying running the setup to correctly install the needed components and see if that cures it. If it fixes it please let me know so I can inform everyone else who is having these problems. Right now I'm trying to get ahold of a machine that does not have these controls installed by default to see if that is indeed causing the J-script errors, as that's what I believe may be responsible. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 21:19, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So in non-tech talk, I need to do what? T K E 03:03, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
(Oye, so many indents...) Extract the files from the cab, run Setup1.exe, and then try the program again. If that fixes it, tell me -- if not, tell me that too. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 03:07, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I cleared out the previous install, removed all .dlls I could find. Now on extraction of the cab, running the setup, I get "Runtime Error 5". Using the install from the cab, I get to log on, but the same error pops up that I screenshot before. I dunno if it's happening to many other users; if not, don't worry about me, I will survive against the vandals! T K E 04:03, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's not just you. There's something fucked in the setup... I can't even run it on my own machine direct from its source... I more or less put all my faith in the PaD Wizard, but it's not working apparently, so I'm going to have to write my own install *angry grumble*. For now, you could try copying all of the files except for the .exe's to your System32 file. A simple copy may not register the dll's, but it's worth a try. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 04:57, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Since I'm an experienced web user but novice at the general PC stuff, I'll hold off. Great tool, seem to be working for most, and I liked what I saw. Lemme know if you get the problem licked, I hope I was some help. A big thumbs up, I'm not frustrated :) T K E 07:34, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

White List edits

[edit]

Deleting one user (there was only one) from the white List causes "out of range subscript error 9" (or something like that) and closes the app. Thats on Firefox. ross nixon 11:05, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, you just seem to be having all sorts of problems. I'm not sure what's causing that ... I just tested adding one (and only one) WL user and then deleting him and had no problems. I thought I already extensively error trapped the arrays for the WL/BL, but apparently not. Could you open up "WhiteList.txt" within the same directory as the app and tell me what its contents are/were before and after you delete the user? It could possibly be replacing the entry with a null character, and then when it tries to eliminate the null character from the set there is no entry superceding it, thus the error ... but I thought I had already fixed all of that. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 11:16, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm .. the first time I tried it there were no problems, but then I did it again and it did produce the same error. I'm looking into it. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 11:19, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I know where the problem is. If you add the user, exit the app, load the app, and then delete the user there are no problems. It has something to do with the initial retrieval of the WL / BL being for some reason different from when you add a user. Still not entirely sure of the exact line to fix, but I do know where to look for the problem. Thanks for alerting me of this! AmiDaniel ( Talk) 11:21, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moderator Tools Bug

[edit]

I see I'm a moderator, though I'm not on the list. So I press moderate user list, it's blank. I press update user list, it's blank. I press done, and the userlist blanks on the page. Computerjoe 's talk 20:17, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if I press welcome user or update list after I add a user I get runtime error 438. Computerjoe 's talk 20:26, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also, when I log-in - I get the login error. Computerjoe 's talk 20:29, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The problem with the welcome button is one I was already aware of, and I've actually just identified and repaired the bug that caused the page-blanking problem, which will no longer exist in the next release (likely on Saturday). AmiDaniel ( Talk) 22:51, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed, if so, what version, thanks Eagle talk 05:30, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IE Script Error

Whenever I view a diff by an anon ip which has no talk page yet, I get:

Anyway I can fix that? — Ilyan e p (Talk) 14:28, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh...you may have put a fix up, but I don't know if this error is from the same place. Cheers. — Ilyan e p (Talk) 14:29, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, this is the kind of error the above fix was intended for. Not particularly elegant at the moment but it might might help. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 19:37, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Problem.

BTW, what kind of browser does AWB implement? It doesn't get any script errors or have these kind of problems. Maybe something to look in to. -- Mets501 talk 03:15, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, from the looks of it, it's just IE again. Which is very strange. Does it use javascript related-stuff? -- M1ss1ontomars2k4 | T | C | @ 23:33, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Page Opening error

[edit]

File:VandalProofErrorRlevse.jpg

I just started using VandalProof for the first time today (with v.1.1). As soon I as I did so, I started getting the error above sometimes, but not always. It has so far only happened when I us VP/Wiki. I have not noticed any pattern to when it does or does not do this. Funny thing is, when I get past this popup, the correct page loads anyway. Can anyone help? Rlevse 17:47, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure this is popups-related, as I have the same problem when I navigate WP in Internet Explorer. I could update my above fix to work on these messages as well though. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 19:36, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please let me know when you get this fix added in. Rlevse 20:12, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto, I have the same problem. Do you know if there's a popups fix? Amcfreely 19:39, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
These concerns are probably best directed to WP:POPUP or Lupin (talk · contribs) himslef, as I don't have any answers or involvement in the popups project. I mentioned the problem once before but never heard back--it seems as though this is an Internet Explorer problem (I believe popups was developed for FF). I'm working on making the next version independent of popups though. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 20:07, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Runtime-error '91': Object variable or With block variable not set

Get this error ocassonally when clicking on the articles in the Recent Changes tab. The program exits when I click okay. (VP version 1.1, windows 2000, java 1.5.0_06, IE 6) -- Dodo bird 17:14, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Let me try to replicate it, and I'll get back to you. I have an idea what's causing it. Thanks for reporting the bug! AmiDaniel ( Talk) 00:39, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Is this fixed???? I will archive this in 7 days if no response is posted below. Eagle talk 23:25, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have not been using VP very much lately. Can't say if the bug is fixed. But since no other users seem to have the problem and it's not a really serious bug, I'm ok with it. Feel free to archive it. -- Dodo bird 15:39, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it might have something to do with the ampersand in the page title?

Amcfreely 00:09, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reporting the bug! I've added a notice to the start page, and I believe I have now fixed the bug in the next release. The problem was that ampersands are sometimes parsed as & and sometimes as %26. It now recognizes both as an ampersand. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 00:28, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If anyone’s keeping track, here are two more instances of the VandalProof ampersand bug.

Bug When Welcoming Multiple Users

[edit]

When I try to welcome multiple users, I get a crash. Can't replicate ATM. Computerjoe 's talk 20:52, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hm ... I haven't any problems with that yet. Do you get an error message of any kind? AmiDaniel ( Talk) 23:28, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I now see what you're talking about. Strangely, the problem only occurs when running the full-compiled version (the release version), as when I run it from within the VB debugger I don't have this problem. I'm thinking this has to do with a faster load time on the pages (as things tend to load faster in compiled versions); perhaps, the timer is firing and inconsistent intervals, something along those lines. For now, it may be best to just welcome users the old-fashioned way. Sorry about that. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 05:40, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I had this same problem when programming my bot User:Gnome (Bot), if this helps you, since all you really are doing is editing from a list, is to create a "delay" timer in the program. On my bot it is set to .5 seconds. Talk to me if you want some more specifics. (I can even give you my code that I used to fix my problem, (C++/CLI) of course. Eagle ( talk) ( desk) 07:05, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I bet this is also related to runtime error 330 at the very bottem of the page, I discovered that tonight as well:-) Eagle ( talk) ( desk) 07:05, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, as I noted below, this is related to the code running faster compiled as opposed to semicompiled (how I usually run it). It's already running on a slight delay timer to prevent server lag; however, I believe the pages are loading before the timer fires, so I may just have to up the interval on the timer. Thanks for your help! And I actually wouldn't mind taking a look at your code, if you don't mind. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 07:09, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

execution time errors

[edit]

"Error: 'document.editform.wpSave' is null or not an object"
"Error: 'document.getElementById(...)' is null or not an object"

I have those errors every time a new page loads, and the rollback functions don't work (the button is gray). When I try to debug the script, I get that the error is on the line: "document.editform.wpSave.onclick = ForceEditSummary", so I guess it's a script conflict. Testing... F e tofs Hello! 15:32, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly. See my recent edits to my monobook.js and you'll see that my whole monobook isn't compatible with your app. F e tofs Hello! 15:41, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I actually believe this is likely not a conflict with your other tools, but rather has to do with java. What seems to be happening is that it is for some reason retrieving one more child object than is actually there (for the getElementById part). The only one that really bothers me is the spSave; hopefully you get that warning only when editing a page, but I don't understand how it could not find wpSave (the Save button). There might be a setting under your Java settings or internet setting to turn off the error messages, though I don't know where it is. What version of Java are you using? AmiDaniel ( Talk) 19:16, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That would be JRE 1.5.0_06. F e tofs Hello! 01:37, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, one more thought that I was trying to post right when the server went down ... try turning off "Force edit summaries" from your preferences... that should hopefully fix the wpSave errors. I'm still not sure how to fix the bodycontent problems, but I'll work on a fix. It does still seem to be a java problem, but it might have to do with your tools. What I really need to work on is disabling scripts on pages (except for popups, which I use quite extensively and have no problems with). Another source of the problem could be that some of the scripts are desinged for FF only, and as VP uses IE components, they might not be compatible with IE, thus the error. (You might also try setting your skin in the IE browser to Simple and see if that cures it). Again, I'll look into it some more, and thanks for bringing this to my attention. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 02:18, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"Force edit summaries" in my preferences is turned off; I use a script for it. Again, when I blank my monobook.js, these errors disappear. Most of the scripts are really uncompatible with IE, but I never got any error like this in the normal browser. F e tofs Hello! 02:37, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'm sorry about that. Popups, Lupin's, and AfD helper (and probably others, but those are what I use) should still work. I'll look into a way to strip all the scripts from the page to eliminate those problems, but hopefully you can live without the scripts or by keeping two versions of monobook.js for a couple of weeks. Sorry for the inconvenience! AmiDaniel ( Talk) 03:04, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possible solution is to look for a "nowiki" tag right before the {<test>), if so, don't subst. If I am not clear, you know where to find me Eagle talk 23:00, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Runtime error 9

[edit]
How to replicate it.
  • 1)Open up the compiled version
  • 2)Click on User Lists
  • 3)Click on any of the three tabs (Talk, Contribs, or Delete from list) in the Black list box, Without selecting an item inside, (i.e. don't click on a vandal's name, just click the button. Doing so will cause the error to occur and the program to exit.
    • Note, this does not occur when clicking the buttons on the white list... I tried:-) As a result, I would compare the code from the whitelist buttons, to the code of the blacklist buttion, (in C++, this would be a malfunctioning try, catch block... Dunno for the languge this is written in)

Hope this was helpful Eagle ( talk) ( desk) 03:30, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Grrr ... I've got too many goddamn controls on that form. I originally copied all of the code from one button to the next, changing slight details (though I should have just made one hald for all clicks to any of those buttons), and then when I noticed the problem with the White buttons I added the fix into those but not into the others. I'm working on fixing it. Thanks! AmiDaniel ( Talk) 07:18, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Don't feel bad, every time I use VandalFigter, I try religously to crash it... (how I debug my own programs:-) Eagle ( talk) ( desk) 20:29, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bad title

[edit]

I'm not quite sure why, but whenever I try to perform a rollback in VP (under normal windows User permissions), I wind up with a "Bad Title" error. I only have popups in my monobook.js, and I deleted my monobook.css too. I can think of 2 issues (or a combination of the two) that could be causing it:

  1. User Permissions - As paranoid as I am, I run under regular user permissions on my windows machine (not Administrator). I had to force full user permissions on all of the installed files & directories in order to get VP to run at all. If I run Vandal Proof with normal user permissions Rollback fails... However if I run as Administrator, it works fine (see my monobook.css page).
  2. IE 7 - I am running with IE7 installed, this may compound the above problem.

Regards, -- Charlie(@CIRL | talk) 05:53, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hm.. it seems that there have been quite a few IE7 problems reported. Can you do me a favor? Try clicking this link, and tell me if it reverts, or if it gives you a bad page title error. I'm thinking this problem may already be fixed in the next release. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 20:55, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That link worked for me runing as a normal user so I guess this issue will be fixed in the next release. Thanks a bunch -- Charlie(@CIRL | talk) 21:28, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
AmiDaniel states that this is not fixed yet, thought I'd note the fact... Eagle talk 05:59, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Run time error 330

[edit]

When useing the "inform editors of this article" feature the program does two things wrong. 1)It posts to some selected individuals 3-4 times, and to some other selected individuals 0 times (have a look at my contributions. (I hit this error twice, so you should see two seperate instances of the program going beserk, and my going after it and fixing what it did wrong. 2) It throws runtime error 330 and closes out of vandalproof.

Yep, you're not the first user to have this problem unfortunately. I believe the problem has to with the optimization options I used when compiling it, as this problem doesn't occur when running the uncompiled (or semicompiled if you like) version. It seems as though the program simply gets ahead of itself--the timer fires before it's managed to load the next page. Let me go add a note to the welcome page. Thanks for reporting the problem! Moderator bug

[edit]

See this diff, I approved two users, and didn't approve two, but the edit summary says I approved 2 but didn't approve only one. Prodego talk 18:58, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting, the workaround is to update after you approve each user. Then this problem will not occur. Beyond that advice I can't help you further, you will have to wait for AmiDaniel. Eagle talk 22:37, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, but I would rather select APPROVE or NOT APPROVED for all of them, then click update. See also this diff. Prodego talk 22:53, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, but please remember that this program is still in development, more than likely the error is due to the program only holding X number of changes (without the source code, I can only speculate). AmiDanial may be able to fix this, my suggestion is meant as a workaround only. The workaround is not all that bad either, It just means you have to hit one extra buttion. (I suspect that the program will handle up to 3 without problems). Try it out and experiment. What ever results you get, please put them up here. Thanks Eagle talk 23:05, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, I just mean that I won't use the workaround, mainly because I have editcountitis and I already have a ridiculously high number of User talk edits. ;-) Also, I wanted to bring this minor bug to AmiDaniel's attention. Not so much because I have a problem with it, but just so AmiDaniel knows. Prodego talk 23:11, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thats alright, All I was doing was "patching" up the problem, AmiDaniel will need to have a look at this. But editcountitis aside. the solution works, and 3 more edits should not matter much. Please, just take my advice as a temporary fix, as that is all it is meant to be:-). Eagle talk 23:23, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

VandalProof not case sensitive

[edit]

In case no one else has caught this...I had a user, User:JaY (uppercase Y ) show up in my VandalProof window tagged as an admin. If you've lost count, User:Jay (lowercase y ) IS an admin. the JaY user only had 3 total edits one of which was vandalism on the Fidel Castro article. I almost let it pass but that article has been very active lately so I popped in just to read it. Had VandalProof been case sensitive I wouldn't have gone in with my guard down. Popups bug within VP

[edit]
File:Vperror.jpg

Hey Daniel, any idea why this --> has started happening whenever my cursor hovers over a link?

I did add Kate's tool and AFD helper to my monobook recently; However have since reverted back to previous and hard refreshed my monobook and still doing it every time.

Terribly frustrating! - Gl e n T C (Stollery) 21:09, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This may be better directed to User:Lupin. Popups seems to have a lot of problems with Internet Explorer (which VP uses to render pages)--in fact, the strange crash on startup bug was popups-related, though I've now been able to fix the bug with a 0.5 second timer. Try loading up an IE instance to try and replicate the bug; it's possible that this may have been inadvertently fixed in the upcoming release, as I made some changes to fix the IE script errors. Let me know if you find the cause, and I'm sorry you're having problems. AmiDaniel ( talk) 23:44, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Daniel,

Having some issues this evening. Been trying to get into the mod menu to approve to two users attached on this image ==> and been getting Run time error '13' popping up after which the app immediately closes.

Can't seem to shake it (tried it on 2 PCs [however my second PC accesses the app on the other via the shared folder so that the logs/custom buttons etc remain intact). Thought I'd let you know anyway - approve the two users too if I don't get a chance! :)

Same. The only odd thing I see is that Mystìc tried to self-add, but that was reset. I'll keep looking as well. Prodego talk 15:06, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should be fixed now. Sorry about that--I needed to a reset on the mods; I suppose I should actually try error trapping for once lol. AmiDaniel ( talk) 18:51, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! - Gl e n T C (Stollery) 18:56, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and for User:Wes!, the exclamation point is what's causing the problem--User:That Guy, From That Show! had a similar problem. The bug is now fixed in the next version (to be released this weekend). AmiDaniel ( talk) 18:53, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Could this also be why User:^demon can't log in? (see my/his talk pages for more if interested :) - Gl e n T C (Stollery) 21:33, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that would be why. Fixed in the next release. AmiDaniel ( talk) 22:49, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You can work around this by using the character code (see (aeropagitica)). Prodego talk 22:52, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I second Prodego, me and him worked on that one togather:-) Eagle talk 23:07, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure you mean "he and I" worked on it together! -- Wisd e n17 18:33, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Gah! I am not a grammer person, I tend to math and science... Though seriously, thanks for pointing out my error:-) Eagle talk
I'm sure you mean "grammar." :-P AmiDaniel ( talk) 19:47, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Note to self. Don't edit on pages frequented by "english" people when sick. If I should do so, I need to have a spell-checker installed into firefox:-). Thanks agian. Eagle talk 00:43, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3 minor glitches

[edit]

Hey Daniel, just 3 very minor bugs (if you could call them that) - no doubt you know these but thought I'd be sure.

  1. When reverting VP doesn't detect a change has been made and as such tries to revert. However there is no change actually made (as someone else was faster reverting) and then VP warns the editor regardless. This results in double ups in warnings
  2. AIV - VP doesn't detect the user has already been added to AIV, again, resulting in double ups.
  3. Because VP is IE based, the new edit counter links won't work (more specific to mods than users). Is there anyway to have a open in new browser window right click open the default browser instead of IE perhaps?

You rock as per :) - Gl e n T C (Stollery) 07:27, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  1. I'm aware of this problem, but I don't know how exactly to go about repairing it. No warning is given to the user when someone else has reverted quicker (unless by a 1:100000 chance you get an edit conflict), and it would be quite counterproductive to reload the history everytime just to check that.
  2. Already fixed in the next release.
  3. If you know a javascript command (or Win API) to do this, I'd be glad to; however, I don't know any. Right now I'm just using the javascript, "window.open('blabla');" to pop up a new window. I suppose it's probably possible to do this via API, maybe with ShellExecute, but that's still an awful lot of code to do something I'm currently doing in one line. Is IE really that horrible?
Thanks for the report. I just spent all day today playing around on test.wikipedia, and I now have my first sysop-oriented tool finished =). But so long as I get bored writing tools I have no way of using, I should have v1.2 ready by this upcoming weekend. Sorry for how long this one's taken! And all you people wanted to block me during my Wikibreak! Imagine how far behind I'd be if that had happened lol. AmiDaniel ( talk) 07:37, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. I believe the RC script detects a change maybe there's something in that worth stealing? Great news on #2. And no I'm not picking on IE except that doesn't Interiot's edit count #2 only work in non-IE browsers? - Gl e n T C (Stollery) 07:54, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Congrats on the sysop tool! Can you tell me more? Glen
Sure, I'm building a page on it at User:AmiDaniel/SHM. Essentially it's just a simple tool to do history merges--after a long discussion in IRC last talking about what a pain merging histories is (though I don't think so at all), I just threw together a quick diddy to do it in one click. Now back on topic: Interiot's Tool2 only works with non-IE browsers, though I might note that the toolserver is ... sort of ... back up. In any case, the next release will use my really crappy little edit counter to just obtain a quick, dirty raw edit count, so that won't be an issue, I don't think. The RC script only works because it's a streaming feed, which VP is not, but I'll look into it anyway. Anyway, thanks for all your help, and I'll see what I can do. Character Conversion Error

[edit]

For some reason, reverting this edit didn't work properly. I tried twice. It seemed to think I was reverting an edit to Wikipedia:Why create an account:F; this is what showed up on the warning it produced: [3]. Mango juice talk 04:18, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to be a problem with converting HTML chars to ASCII, though I thought I had already dealt with the question mark before. Let me run a couple tests and see if I can get it sorted out; I'm thinking this may have to do with the order in which I translate the chars: if I have %3 before %3F, it will translate %3 and then not find %3F. Thanks for reporting the bug, and I hope I can get this fixed soon. Sorry for the inconvenience. AmiDaniel ( talk) 19:46, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

== PROD Subst'ing (fixed in future version) ==

[edit]

I've just recently uncovered a rather serious bug in VP: It currently does not substitute the PROD template. Especially since the implementation of the new "YOU FORGOT TO SUBST THIS TEMPLATE!!!" warning and the new system of timestamping, this could be quite a problem. For right now, please prod articles manually. This will be fixed in the next release (I might have to release a very immediate version this weekend). Sorry about this.
