Speedy deletion of Sharp and smooth
[edit]A tag has been placed on Sharp and smooth requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. mboverload@ 00:54, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Sharp and smooth. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Marasmusine (talk) 09:54, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
I'm insulted that I am forbidden to publish their achievements, releases, bio etc. It is not remotely a promotional publication. This is an established, successful live performing act and you are forcefully removing them from wikipedia? That is a little obsurd. There are a ton of references online and in physical copy accrediting their official releases.

A tag has been placed on Sharp and smooth requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Thank you. ~ Jafet • business • pleasure • voicemail 06:50, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. The article was deleted after an AfD discussion, and should not be recreated. That, and the dubious notability are not the only issues. I would have deleted the article as an advertisement (the first of its four deletions) was for that too. Unsourced spam/vanity includes, for example
- two talented and inspiring music producers whose visions since their collective creation cultivated a progression of perpetual achievements.
- David Mimram (spam bolding)
- David's illusive creations
- uniquely influenced
- an impressive list of achievements
- They are the fastest growing LIVE house duo in Israel
You need to verify these claims with independent verifiable sources. There is no indication where this history comes from, but it reads as if it's from the group's promotional material jimfbleak (talk) 05:48, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- The deleting admin has restored the article and relisted the deletion discussion for three more days. I've invited the editors who commented before to review their opinion.
Let me repeat here that I still think that the duo lacks sufficient notability for encyclopaedic inclusion. To get technical, the two compilations are not notable by themselves (they lack significant coverage in reliable third-party sources), they only inherit notability through WP:MUSIC#Albums from the notable musicians PvD and Peter Rauhofer. I'm convinced that WP:MUSIC can't be daisy-chained to pass on notability even further.
Let's see if there is going to be consensus, in the end that's all that counts. --AmaltheaTalk 16:50, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hello - my apologies for taking so long to respond here, I just realized that there are comments going through this talk page as well. First off to comment on the issue Jimfbleak raised - the spam like writing can be easily fixed..Im simply not the best at this stuff, so will work on that now.
