Hello & Welcome
[edit]to Wikipedia. I hope your experiences so far don't discourage you from further editing, especially if your work with your museum is related to some experience or expertise in that area. If you haven't had the time and the love of tedium it takes to read through all of the Wikipedia guidelines before you start editing, your first AfD nomination is fun like a root canal, I know. There are a lot of reminders about not 'biting' the new editors, but I think they need to add a notice for new editors: don't let it bother you when the experienced editors bite you.
There are a lot of people here who look at each new article with the assumption that it should be deleted, but there are others who work to keep articles from deletion. If this experience hasn't burned you on editing, maybe you'll be interested in that, too. Contact me from my user page any time. - Whether you want our comments or not, they are designed to be helpful and explain why an article probably cannot be retained in the encyclopedia. I look at new articles with the assumption that they can be saved and I did a lot of checking to see if I could find anything to argue to keep it. Try not to be so emotional about an entry in the Wikipedia, after all it's an encyclopedia and not meant to be an advert. Just consider what you might had been doing to promote your museum if the Wikipedia still hadn't been invented. If you follow the advice that has already been provided, you should not be surprised if your next attempt succeeds, but you will have to find an acceptable workaround for the COI and providing references, and stay cool with the peol who are trying to help. A lot of real crap gets posted as first articles, but your is not, so I also wish you every success with the museum.--Kudpung (talk) 08:06, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- Although we remain neutral and refrain from emotional, histerical, and WP:CIVIL comment during debates on policy or on the merits of an article, maybe it's time you left off of accusing the Wikipedia editors of being a kind of SA. Such comments are grossly inappropriate and won't influence or change the outcome for your article. One day, hopefully, you might become a Wikipedian yourself (a two-way contributor), and your mission naturally will be to want to help maintain the standards required by the encyclopedia. If you have had military experience yourself, you surely understand the notions of both rules and teamwork.--Kudpung (talk) 01:55, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
