Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you recently removed some content without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! [edit]Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Nthep (talk) 14:40, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Dave Stewart (baseball). Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. If the SOURCED information in correct, it's up to you to find correct sources. Your say-so is not good enough. See WP:OR Manway 14:59, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- Please stop your edit warring. If there is a dispute, discuss it on the talk page. George8211 / T 15:03, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion
[edit]Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. The thread is Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:Alst17 reported by User:Manway (Result: ). Thank you. Manway 15:07, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Dave Stewart
[edit]You say you are his daughter, and you well might be. We have no reason to doubt you, aside from this being the Internet and all, but also no reason to believe you. Wikipedia policies are based on verifiability through reliable sources. The word of an anonymous person claiming to be a relation does not count as a "reliable source". Usually we need articles from magazines, newspapers, etc. for proof. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:34, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
You guys have my name on the freaking thumbnail!!! Alyse D Stewart, born 1982, by all means source that!
- Could you explain what is inaccurate about the information included. I understand that the information about his past legal trouble might be embarrassing but you claim it is inaccurate. If you could explain what is inaccurate about it we might be able to help you remove inaccurate info.. But please don't keep edit warring.Spanneraol (talk) 16:40, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Alyse, My name is KoshVorlon , I'm not an admin, nor anything other than a user, like you are. I see you're having problems on the Dave Stewart page. I also see that you state that you're his daughter. In order to protect living people as best as possible, Wikipedia insists that reliable sources be used, not personal recollections, nor first hand reports. However, there have been exceptions made (very rare) when the source is directly related, as you say you are.
The best way to resolve this would be to contact OTRS The OTRS board is here . OTRS handles sensitive requests, such as , a relative or a subject of an article wishing to make a change in the article, because the article currently has something in it that 's not true. So, put a note on that page, and a member of OTRS will contact you (through email, as this process is private ) and will assist you, if possible, to get the correct information on that page. I'm not involved with OTRS at this time, but I'm aware of them. So contact them -- if you continue changing the article, you could get blocked for it, and I know you don't want that, nor do I want to see that either. EDIT: I see you've been blocked. I would still suggest contacting OTRS, they can be reached by email at info-en-q@wikimedia.org. Also, I would suggest recanting your legal threat. I know you're angry, but work with us and we can get the article right, ok ? KoshVorlon Angeli i demoni kruzhyli nado mnoj 16:50, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- Please note that there is a strict policy on Wikipedia of No Original Research because there is no way for us to know whether you really are the daughter of the subject of the article, or somebody who is impersonating the daughter of the subject of the article. All we have at the moment is a source from 1989 that says that Dave Stewart is not married to Vanessa. Of course, he and Vanessa could have gotten back together between 1989 and today, but unless there is an independent source that states that, there is no way we could put that into the article about Dave Stewart. Please consider taking back your threat of legal action (on this talk page since you are blocked from editing any other page on Wikipedia) and help us work together to make the Dave Stewart article the best and most accurate that it could be.
- If you are indeed related to Dave Stewart, and it is really important for you that the article state that he is now back together with Vanessa, have him say it publicly. As per the No Original Research policy, the public statement cannot be made on Wikipedia. Although for most cases we would need a source indpendent of the person to report on the matter in order to include on Wikipedia, we do have a policy called WP:SELFSOURCE that would allow us to quote from his official tweeter or facebook accounts if it's information about himself. - His marriage isn't at issue. He is in fact divorced and it is stated on the page as such. My mom and dad were not divorced until 2010. Publicly (public records) you will not find a divorce decree until then. If it would help you verify who I am, I can send you my 8th grade graduation photo with my mom and dad in it together with me or better yet check out my Facebook.
I have already sent in a request for unblock. I eill state it again...I will not and do not have intention of taking legal action. It appears you all are will to help correct the page. That's all I ask.
- Wonderful - unfortunately Wikipedia is very bueracratic, so you need to put that inside the template per the instructions, so that it will pop up in the appropate location for administrators to see. If you need help with this detail, please state it, and I'll give you the step by step instructions on what to do (I cannot do it for you). How hot is the sun? (talk) 18:17, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for making the updates to the page Spanneraol and Muboshgu. The arrest 1985 did happen. However, at the time he was unaware that the person was transgendered. The sentence as written suggests that he actively sought out a transvestite which as referenced in the source article is untrue. ""Mr. Stewart said he was unaware that Tyler was a male until after the arrest," Police Cmdr. William Booth said. "That was his statement, and we have reason to believe him." I mean it is already bad enough he was soliciting in the first place. I am requesting removal of the gender type of the prostitute please. If the reader would like to select the source, let them find it there please.
His divorce was finalized in 2010 not 1999. Unfortunately, I cannot find a source for this information online. However, it is public record, in the San Diego County Superior court.
Although we would prefer our privacy, we understand in todays age, that is nearly impossible. All I ask is that you are a little more sensitive to how things are written about living people. My edits were not in an attempt to cause disruption but to prevent heartache, for what is to be a positive moment for our family, with things from the past. It just seems very hurtful that this stuff is now on the page when 5 days ago it wasn't.
I appreciate your understanding and assistance in resolving this. (Alst17 (talk) 19:35, 26 September 2014 (UTC))
- The article does not mention the date of the divorce.. though I found sources referring to him as a "single parent" from the 1990s so the 2010 date doesnt seem right unless they got back together at some point. Probably best to leave it undated like it is. I can also find no sources for his having other kids besides the two listed... Perhaps when the Diamondbacks put up a bio for him on their website that will have the proper sourcing we would need to add to the article. I don't think the wording implies he went searching for a transvestite... did not want to add a whole lot of detail to the article on that event which might add undue weight to it. Spanneraol (talk) 17:47, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- With all due respect, I know your policies but this why I am rather upset. As in the public eye there have only been myself and my brother Adrian, I asure you I have another brother and a little sister. This is one reason I am stating there are some inaccuracies. Which is why I would like the entire section removed...your sources are not very good.
I was present in divorce court and I don't think there will ever be an article on it. But yes...no date makes sense. Again, I'm requesting gender of the prostitue removed. If the intent is not to add detail or bring weight to it, it does the exact opposite. A lewd conduct charge minus the words transvestite and prostitue still bring attention to the fact he was arrested. I'm sure that is the intent. So I am requesting again that it be removed if you will not clarify the fact that he was unaware.
- Perhaps once the Diamondbacks put up his official biography on their web site stating that he has 4 children, we can update the article? How hot is the sun? (talk) 18:11, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- my intent in stating that there are 4 of us instead of 2 was to provide a direct example of how the information you are sourcing is incorrect. Nothing more or less. I don't expect that will ever change. I am hopeful that you will assist me in the wording of the lewd conduct information. That is all. Please.
- I just wanted to note that the information is not "incorrect" but "outdated". Unless the 4 children were all born at the same time, at some point in time he had only 2 children. The information that is cited in the article is from 1989, so it is definitely conceivable that it is outdated. How hot is the sun? (talk) 18:49, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, on Wikipedia, "truth" is whatever can be found in verifyable secondary sources. Here is how you can assist us
- Are there other references that would shed additional details?
- Are the sources that we are using being mis-quoted? mis-interpreted?
- As you have already stated, in today's age it's virtually impossible to have your history erased, especially if you're in the public eye as the new head coach of the Diamondbacks would be, so all you can do is make sure that the embarassing information from the past is presented accurately and in the proper perspective. - I have changed the wording regarding the transvestite to make it clear he was unaware. Does this new wording satisfy you? Spanneraol (talk) 18:32, 26 September 2014 (UTC) I also see that you have been unblocked... you should still refrain from editing his page yourself as you open yourself up to violations of wikipedia's conflict of interest policies. Conflict of Interest concerns
[edit]In order to maintain neutrality, Wikipedia does have a policy of Conflict of Interest, but if everything you insert into the article about your father is properly referenced, there should not be any problems. If you want to be extra cautious, it is best to state what edits you think should be made in the article talk page, and let somebody who is unrelated to the subject of the biography make the edit for you. Again, we are here to help. How hot is the sun? (talk) 19:06, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! Look forward to working with you guys on this page! (Alst17 (talk) 19:31, 26 September 2014 (UTC))
- Just to give you some advice - you may want to edit other articles, unrelated to your father, before you go editing your father's article, so you can practice and learn how to get things done on Wikipedia. Wikipedia operates on the concept of edit by consensus, which means that in some cases consensus can be wrong. Again, you can edit your father's article (even Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, was unable to resist temptation and has edited his own article) but note that any edit you make will receive extra scrutiny because of your declared association with the subject of the biography. - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! Look forward to working with you guys on this page! (Alst17 (talk) 19:31, 26 September 2014 (UTC))
- I understand, I will probably refrain from direct edits for a while. I will definitely provide updated content in hopes that you guys will use it as it becomes available. (Alst17 (talk) 21:58, 26 September 2014 (UTC))
