This is a really good start, and would make a good article. It needs to be cleaned up a bit (you might want to review our Manual of Style (for instance, get rid of the bolding), but what I'm a bit concerned about is that you seem to be taking text directly from press releases. This is technically a copyright violation (yeah, I know press releases are intended to be reprinted, but for Wikipedia's purposes, you can't cut-and-paste like that. If you didn't, please let me know. If you did, please re-write in your own words. When referencing, instead of putting the source in parentheses, use the formal format detailed at wp:cite. One last thing...once it goes live, the article title should be the fully spelled out name, not an acronym (the acronym would be a good redirect, though). Some problems that need to be addressed

  1. It looks like there's a bit of a problem that needs some urgent attention. You've uploaded some images that are clearly copyrighted, and you've indicated that you're the copyright holder. That's all fine, if you really are, but you've credited different photographers and the SF Chronicle, which means that you aren't the actual copyright holder. You need to quickly let me know who the real copyright holder is so that things can be fixed before the images are deleted.
  2. I've moved the gallery down a bit, because we don't put galleries at the top. As an alternative, you can pull the images out of the gallery and scatter them around the article, which is actually the preferred layout method.
  3. Why did you remove the See also link? We try to link to articles that aren't mentioned elsewhere in the article, yet are of the same general subject and would be of interest to our readers.
  4. It would be very helpful if you would take the list of refs at the bottom and convert them to inline citations, see wp:cite for how to do this.

1. We have gotten permission from Michael Macor/SF Chronicle to use the pictures, as long as we give them credit. The process here on Wikipedia is too scattered and not easily found.

2. I removed the See Also Link because they are not affiliated with the Bay Area Puma Project, this would confuse people. This is a specific research project. If it were a general project on research methods or on researching cats in the wild, I could see that as properly placed. But, since they are NOT FUNDING the project, it is very misleading and the heads of the project at UC Santa Cruz would not like it.

3. Ok, I am working on the picture layout.

4. Can I just see an example of the citation? Much easier to learn by example.

Hi Ally,
1) If you have permission from Michael, that's fine, but at least one of the images is credited to another photographer. It is extremely important that you follow the instructions in wp:permissions, especially the part about emailing the permission letter and getting an OTRS ticket number. That's the only thing that will keep the pics from being deleted.
2) It doesn't matter that the projects are not related. This is an encyclopedia, and our readers may be looking for a variety of projects, studies, etc. Because Wikipedia is a strictly independent source of information, we are not guided by concerns about the UCSC folks. As I said, "See also" is about other articles related via subject. Wildcat preservation articles, as a general subject, are entirely appropriate for a SA section.
3) Great!
4) As a random sample, check out Art Donahue. I realize that this article has nothing to do with your subject, but you can see how the inline cites were done, and how there's a "References" section at the bottom with the {{reflist}} template there.
This article deserves some good attention, and I've nominated it to appear in the "Did You Know" section on the encyclopedia's front page...quite an honor, if it makes it. Currently, it's on hold while the issues I've mentioned are attended to...but if you can get the citations done, it stands to get some high profile attention. Looks like someone below addressed the shared account, but even so, if it is credited to a publication, it must have a release letter on file. If this isn't taken care of shortly...ie, your top priority, the images will be tagged for deletion. I don't mean to be harsh, but we take copyright issues very seriously. Hi Ally, another issue that needs to be considered. You and Zara are obviously connected professionally to the projects you're writing about. You might want to make yourself aware of our conflict of interest guidelines. One of the things you've done right is to go through the AfC process to get the articles created, rather than creating them directly. I appreciate that! The COI guidelines don't mean that you can't contribute, just that it needs to be done carefully. All of the material you post needs to be written in a strictly neutral tone...any hint of using Wikipedia to promote or publicize your group's activities could have negative affects. The two things that you can continue doing right now is clearing up the copyright issues, and inserting the inline refs, in both articles. Beyond that, you probably should refrain from directly adding content now that the articles are published. If there's something new to add, feel free to contact myself or one of the other editors who have been helping on this, or drop a note about the proposed text, the ref for it, and a note that you're doing so in order to respect our COI guidelines onto the talk page, and a neutral party will address it. Hi- I made some changes on the pictures, but the references wouldn't work. The directions and the sample article, I modeled, but it still wouldn't work. (for BAPP and Felidae)

I'd be happy to help out, but I don't know which refs go to which sentences in the article. If you want, go to the edit mode, copy the text of the article and then paste it into one of my sandboxes, here: User:Akradecki/SB8. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion.
